Chapter 114: Being the Villain Feels So Damn Good!
Hearing the system’s words, Ning Xiyue lay down, closed her eyes, and began breathing steadily. To anyone watching, she looked as if she had fallen asleep. In reality, her focus was razor-sharp, waiting for the system to make its move.
[Don’t worry, Host. I’ll protect you,] the system said.
“Mm.”
Ning Xiyue could feel it beginning to act. A strange force attacked her spiritual consciousness, making her head ache. But once she slipped into her inner space and came back out, the sensation disappeared.
Her body, however, had already climbed out of bed and begun walking on its own—like a sleepwalker—moving toward the door.
On the other bed, Chen Yechu had also gotten up. Ning Xiyue cracked her eyelids into a tiny slit; with the system’s help, she didn’t have to worry about being discovered.
She saw Chen Yechu walking beside her, eyes closed, clearly unconscious. But Ning Xiyue trusted the protagonist’s “plot armor,” so she wasn’t worried.
Ning Xiaoxiao wasn’t there, but Ning Xiyue already knew where she’d gone—she had taken a thick stack of letters and left.
Tsk. Seeing that thick bundle of letters made Ning Xiyue grin even wider inside. Go on, just don’t half-ass it.
They walked out of the room.
The educated youth compound was eerily silent. The moon above was half-hidden behind black clouds, crows flapped overhead, cawing caw caw caw, and the midnight breeze sent a chill through the air. A thin mist was creeping across the sky.
For some reason, Ning Xiyue suddenly remembered how zombies always appeared in those horror movies she used to watch—fog rising… and then, suddenly, a zombie jumping out.
Now, the rising mist revealed two “zombies” of their own—herself and Chen Yechu, stumbling forward like walking corpses.
Their direction? Straight toward Wang Mazi’s house.
It seemed this whole mess was still tied to that strange red aura.
Ning Xiyue’s half-squinted eyes darted subtly left and right. She couldn’t see the red thing, but maybe it was invisible to her.
From the system’s behavior, though, she could tell it was right in front of them.
They stopped at Wang Mazi’s door and waited until Ning Xiaoxiao came rushing over. Excited, she muttered to herself, “Immortal, I’ve done everything you asked. Leave the rest to me. Tonight, I’ll make those two end up with Wang Mazi, and tomorrow their reputations will be ruined forever!”
Ning Xiyue felt a wave of seething, hateful intent fix on her like a physical weight.
[Host, should we move now?] the system asked urgently.
“Wait. We’ll act once we’re inside the courtyard.”
[Understood.]
After Ning Xiaoxiao finished talking, the door to Wang Mazi’s house opened, and she was the first to step inside.
Ning Xiyue and Chen Yechu’s bodies began walking again, following her into the courtyard.
It was just as silent inside. Even with three living people stepping into the yard, neither Wang Mazi nor his mother, Liu Guifen, made a sound.
Ning Xiyue knew the red mist had a hand in this.
They weren’t done yet. One of the doors in front of them swung open—it was Wang Mazi’s room.
Ning Xiaoxiao stood at the doorway, glanced inside, then looked back at Ning Xiyue and Chen Yechu. She let out a few maniacal laughs.
In the stillness of the night, her laughter sounded downright deranged.
“You two should just settle in and become brides tonight. Don’t blame me for gifting you a husband. If you want to blame someone, blame yourselves for being so damn annoying. You’re getting off easy! Hahaha!”
Ning Xiaoxiao laughed wildly, tears streaming down her face.
So noisy.
“System, do it,” Ning Xiyue said coldly, unable to bear that smug laughter a second longer.
[As you command.]
The system shot forward like a meteor, pouncing on the red mist Ning Xiyue couldn’t see. She still couldn’t make it out, but she could see the system’s claws slashing ferociously at something invisible, utterly savage, and—judging by its energy—thrilled.
Satisfied that the system was handling things, Ning Xiyue turned to her own task.
She pulled a vial of knockout powder from her spatial storage and discreetly sprinkled it toward Ning Xiaoxiao.
Three seconds later, the arrogant laughter cut off abruptly. With a dull thud, Ning Xiaoxiao collapsed to the ground.
Ning Xiyue half-opened her eyes and saw Chen Yechu beside her slowly opening hers too—clearly, she hadn’t been under control either.
Chen Yechu had hidden her consciousness inside her “golden finger” from the start, so she hadn’t fallen under the influence. She’d even avoided the knockout powder and only opened her eyes when she heard Ning Xiaoxiao hit the ground.
In fact, she’d contributed to Ning Xiaoxiao’s fall.
Ever since the Wang Mazi incident, she had secretly purchased some knockout powder from Ning Xiyue for self-defense.
Only a fool wouldn’t make money. Ning Xiyue had agreed—Chen Yechu paid well, so why not?
No one knew about their private deal. Chen Yechu had proposed it herself, so there was nothing to worry about.
“Xiyue, are you okay?” Chen Yechu asked, concern in her voice.
Ning Xiyue opened her eyes fully and shook her head silently.
Neither of them asked about the things that couldn’t be explained.
Chen Yechu glanced down at the unconscious Ning Xiaoxiao and gave her a kick. “Looks like she couldn’t wait any longer. Hmph. Let her reap what she’s sown tonight.”
Ning Xiyue stared coldly at the unconscious woman. “Mm. Let’s get started. Since she made the first move, we’ll make the last. We can’t let all this effort go to waste.”
“Let’s go.”
Ning Xiyue grabbed Ning Xiaoxiao by the arms, Chen Yechu by the legs, and together they tossed her onto Wang Mazi’s bed.
“I’ll add a little fuel to the fire,” Chen Yechu said with a wicked grin. She pulled a pill—something she’d bought online, similar to Viagra—from her pocket and shoved it into Wang Mazi’s mouth.
“Hehe, then let me add some too.”
Ning Xiyue hadn’t expected Chen Yechu to go dark side—but she liked it. She took out her own specially prepared “enhanced Hehuan Powder,” a potent aphrodisiac designed to keep people going all night long.
She handed one dose to Chen Yechu, motioning for her to give it to Wang Mazi, and personally administered the other to Ning Xiaoxiao.
What a waste—this was high-quality stuff, full of rare ingredients, and here she was wasting it on Ning Xiaoxiao.
But when she thought of the scene that would unfold tomorrow, Ning Xiyue’s grin returned. It would be glorious entertainment.
After dosing them, she placed the stack of letters into the wardrobe Wang Mazi had mentioned.
Chen Yechu pulled out a bag and, with a look of disgust, selected an item from the wardrobe to pack away.
Seeing the two people on the bed already clawing at each other’s clothes in a frenzy, Ning Xiyue thoughtfully closed the door for them. “Come on, let’s go.”
Chen Yechu chuckled wickedly. “Yeah, let’s go. Once we’re back at the compound, I’ve got something exciting I still want to do.”
What could she say?
Sometimes… being the villain just feels so damn good!
