Chapter 130: A New Location
Looking at Su Ning as she prepared to leave, Li Ming suddenly felt an inexplicable urge to follow her. Almost instinctively, he began trailing behind.
Su Ning paused, turned around, and looked at him coldly.
“Why are you following me? Weren’t you scared of my abilities?”
Li Ming gently shook his head, his eyes filled with sincerity. He spoke honestly, “Yes, I was afraid of your powers, Sister Su. But my instincts tell me… if I go with you, I’ll be safer.”
He wasn’t making it up — it was his [Super Luck] talent at work again. Sometimes, it gave him an unconscious sense of who to trust and where safety lay. Compared to the terrifying man-eating rat controller Jin Yuan, Su Ning gave him a stronger sense of security. Despite her terrifying abilities, she made him feel… safe.
Su Ning frowned and replied coldly, “Suit yourself.”
Truthfully, she had planned to act alone and didn’t want anyone tagging along. But thinking about Li Ming’s [Super Luck], bringing him along as a sort of good-luck charm might not be a bad idea. Maybe they’d even stumble across another treasure chest thanks to him.
After all, as long as he survived this survival instance and returned to his own world, they’d eventually part ways.
Su Ning wasn’t worried about anyone discovering her abilities. They came from different worlds — what was there to fear?
Though she was considering building her own power base, that plan still needed more thought.
As promising as the idea was, there were still many flaws to fix.
For example, how to upgrade Zombie No. 1 and the others.
Although the zombies she had converted completely obeyed her commands, they couldn’t stray too far from her. If they did, they would lose control.
“I had considered whether a large enough supply of [Zombie Fruit] could help awaken some intelligence in No. 1 and the others, letting them develop their own will. That would require a huge number of fruits. I didn’t have enough to test before — but now, with so many zombies around, there’s no shortage of materials.”
Now her concern was whether Huahua (the plant that converts zombies) could keep up.
Huahua: This is going to kill me from exhaustion!
But before all that, Su Ning needed to find a suitable place to establish her first safe base. The recycling plant was nice, but too exposed — anyone nearby would inevitably be drawn to it. Not safe at all.
She turned her gaze toward Li Ming, who had been circling around Zombie No. 6 (Jin Yuan).
Apparently, Li Ming was curious about how Su Ning could control zombies — and how they weren’t attacking him. He was now observing No. 6 closely.
“You’re amazing, Sister Su. I can’t believe powers like this even exist!”
Li Ming thought, If Sister Su has such strong powers, she should really build a base. That way I could stay in it and be under her protection…
As that idea passed through his mind, he felt a bit down.
“I wonder how my sister Li Hua is doing…”
Li Ming came from a divorced family. He had a twin sister who lived with their mother.
But after the apocalyptic disaster, he’d lost contact with them. His father was unreliable, so he had to survive on his own.
Su Ning figured she could rely on Li Ming’s absurd luck. She decided to ask him something — hoping his instinct might point her in the right direction.
“Li Ming, if there’s a livable location around here, which direction do you think it’s in?”
Li Ming fell into deep thought. He studied their surroundings: a dense forest, seemingly surrounded by mountains, far removed from the bustling city.
There weren’t many zombies around — it felt relatively safe.
Furrowing his brows, Li Ming thought for a moment and then pointed in a direction.
“A livable place… hmm… maybe that way?”
Of course, he had no real clue if that direction held anything useful — but since Sister Su asked, he had to give some answer.
Su Ning nodded without hesitation.
“Alright. Let’s go that way.”
Li Ming (stunned): Wait, you’re just going with that? No second thought?
Su Ning (serious): “Follow the guidance of luck.”
Soon, Su Ning led Li Ming to their destination — a solitary villa, surrounded by towering ancient trees in the middle of the forest.
“There’s really a house here?! Someone actually lived in a place like this? That’s unbelievable!” Li Ming exclaimed.
Su Ning stood before the villa, quietly observing the slightly run-down building.
There were a few scattered zombies nearby, but she didn’t make a move — instead, she looked at Li Ming.
Li Ming froze in place.
Su Ning didn’t want to keep someone by her side who only relied on her protection.
The rain from earlier had long stopped.
“Did you finish your task yet?”
Su Ning remembered the survival instance [Corpse Hell] had two main requirements:
Survive 7 days
Kill 10 zombies
There was also an extra reward: kill 100,000 zombies to unlock the Planting Space, but that was optional.
Li Ming nodded. Since entering, thanks to [Super Luck], the zombies that had tried to attack him had all accidentally tripped or fallen — like dominoes. More than ten of them had died in freak accidents.
Su Ning seemed to have forgotten just how ridiculous his ability really was.
Li Ming also understood that Sister Su wanted to see if he had any actual combat ability.
So he stepped forward and used his Bubble-Blowing Talent + Skill.
A transparent, floating bubble shimmered into existence — sparkling like a gemstone, glowing faintly with an enchanting light. The bubble drifted toward a nearby zombie, wrapping around it like a magical force.
The zombie stared at the bubble in confusion. It tried to grab it — but in the next moment, the bubble engulfed the zombie entirely, and its figure vanished as if sucked into thin air.
The zombie’s body began to float upward, spinning and struggling in midair but unable to break free.
Soon, more zombies were trapped in Li Ming’s bubbles, their bodies all lifting into the sky.
Dozens of floating zombies hovered above them — like they were imprisoned in transparent cages, flipping and tumbling, trying to escape.
Even Su Ning was surprised. “This ability is amazing! Just one bubble and the zombie starts floating. And you didn’t even need to fight them directly!”
Li Ming smiled. “This is the [Floating Bubble]. As long as it doesn’t get wet, it can last for a long time!”
This was the talent and skill he’d acquired in the last instance.
Not only was it powerful — it was unique.
“I can also blow an explosive bubble, but it’s really loud. I’m afraid it’ll attract more zombies, so I’ll show that one another time.”
The two of them entered the villa.
Whoever built this place clearly wasn’t short on money. Though the zombie outbreak had left it run-down, the former luxury was still visible beneath the dust.
Li Ming started searching for resources. Sure enough, he quickly found some useful items.
“Weapons!”
As he was looking for a place to set down his blind box egg, he noticed a long spear mounted above the fireplace. Delighted, he grabbed it.
“Now I can fight zombies in close combat too!”
He gave it a few practice thrusts.
Su Ning looked at him wordlessly.
“Li Ming, didn’t you ever consider trying to complete the 100,000 zombie kill mission to get the Planting Space?”
Li Ming lovingly wiped down the spear and replied while cleaning, “Who wouldn’t want a Planting Space? The outside world is nothing but scorched earth. If I had one, I could grow food. But killing 100,000 zombies… I don’t have that kind of ability. And even if I did, there aren’t enough zombies around for me to do it.”
