Teacher System

Chapter 38: Teacher System

As soon as the button lit up, Ning Xiyue rubbed her hands together in excitement and eagerly pressed it.

Inside was a full set of materials — so complete that Ning Xiyue felt as if she had just opened one of those “civil service exam prep mega packs” she used to buy online.

There was a complete textbook version of the “Household Weaving Mastery Manual”, full of pictures and text, laid out like a tutorial — with each step explained in detail.

More importantly, besides the book, there were teaching videos and practice assignments included.

The videos were designed to match the textbook, with corresponding exercises for synchronized practice. And of course, the videos had to be personally recorded by the learner — led by an exclusive instructor.

Wasn’t this basically like joining a reality TV study program?

Ning Xiyue was eager and full of anticipation as she opened the first lesson video.

In an instant, an image appeared in her mind — a stick figure demonstrating the steps.

But after the stick figure’s demonstration, her mind was still blank. She hadn’t remembered a thing.

Suddenly, large words appeared in front of her:

[To truly learn, you must first record it yourself.]
[Would you like to begin?]

Good heavens — so that stick figure was just the trailer?

Ning Xiyue pressed “Yes.”

The scene in her mind shifted — like a movie zooming in from the vastness of the cosmos. She saw a building perched on a meteorite, which seemed to be a classroom. The moment she touched the door —

— she was pulled inside.

It was indeed a classroom — a modern, high-tech one, with a multimedia console and a large projection screen at the front. A row of desks stood before her, but she was the only student there.

Curious, Ning Xiyue looked around.

No instructors. No visible cameras. She guessed there were invisible recording devices that she simply couldn’t see.

Suddenly, a booming voice echoed through the empty classroom:

[Welcome to the Host Training Program. This is the ‘Household Weaving Skills’ training course.]

Ning Xiyue jumped in surprise — a voice had suddenly filled the entire classroom, yet there was no one to be seen.

Her eyes instinctively turned toward the podium and the projector.

And then — a giant turtle appeared on the podium.

At the same time, the projector turned on, displaying the first lesson from the textbook.

Seeing the enormous turtle — the familiar shell patterns, the familiar eyes, the familiar movements — Ning Xiyue was speechless.

“System… is that you?”

“Ahem, hello, students. I’m your instructor today — Teacher Mi Yang.”

Ha! Ignoring her now, was he? Apparently, getting bigger made him bolder too.

Ning Xiyue took a few steps closer, trying to get a better look at him.

But as soon as she neared the podium, she realized she couldn’t go any further. It was as if an invisible barrier separated her from the podium’s space — she could see it, but not touch it.

She was confined to her own space.

“Interesting.”

Ning Xiyue chuckled lightly, returned to her seat, and stopped worrying about the question — she had time to figure it out later.

“Today is our first class in the Beginner Host Training Program. Our lesson is: How to weave a durable yet beautiful vegetable basket from rattan. Please open your textbooks to page one, lesson one…”

As Teacher Mi Yang spoke, materials for the lesson appeared on the desk in front of her, and the turtle teacher began his instruction.

It was surprisingly advanced.

Ning Xiyue grew increasingly intrigued by Teacher Mi Yang — especially the turtle himself.

“Teacher Mi Yang, are you my little turtle?” she asked, probing for information.

“This student, please do not disrupt the class.”

Oh wow — now she was officially “this student.”

Was he accusing her of disrupting class?

He even glared at her.

Ning Xiyue didn’t dare interrupt again.

Every time she tried to speak, the giant turtle’s expression seemed to accuse her of not paying attention, and his claws twitched irritably — clearly displeased with her behavior.

This made her too scared to ask any more off-topic questions, afraid System might smack her with one of those claws.

And truthfully, System’s current form looked strong enough that she couldn’t take a single hit.

It also felt like the turtle wasn’t teaching only her — she sensed there were other learners in unseen spaces.

Could it be… that thousands of hosts across different systems were all learning together?

With this realization, Ning Xiyue focused completely. No more distractions — she followed along with the textbook and weaving materials, fully immersed in the lesson.

By the end of the class, she had learned a lot of knowledge and even mastered the art of selecting rattan vines.

After the basics, she followed Teacher Mi Yang’s step-by-step guidance and made her first basket.

Although the final product was a bit flimsy — deforming with just a light touch — Ning Xiyue was still very pleased. It was her first attempt, and no matter how rough it was, it was still her handiwork.

Once she finished, the giant turtle teacher said, “Students, that’s all for today’s host training class. See you next time.”

When the turtle vanished, Ning Xiyue’s consciousness was ejected from the classroom.

What a fun class! And that turtle? It was definitely System.

She couldn’t help but laugh whenever she thought of “Teacher Turtle.” Also, the basket she made in class couldn’t be taken out — it was automatically saved in her personal learning archive as a record of course completion.

When she returned, the teaching video was still there, now marked with a small “Completed” badge. She could scrub through it, and the footage clearly showed her own recording — just like those civil service exam prep videos.

Even better, once she had studied and recorded the class, the initial stick figure animation was now permanently memorized — she could replay it in her mind at will, like watching a cartoon, helping her fully master the lesson.

She was absolutely delighted by the stick figure — it could even adapt dynamically based on the recorded video frames, deepening her memory further.

“System, is this video a one-time thing or permanent?”

“All courseware produced by this system is permanent and reusable.”

There was even a hint of pride in the mechanical voice.

“And… was that giant turtle teacher in class you?”

“Ahaha… that was a clone of me,” System admitted, scratching his claws shyly. “Don’t mind it, Host. The main system only allows me to teach you in this form. I am your system — and also the teacher for all your lessons.”

Damn, she knew it! Who would’ve thought System had so many roles.

Ning Xiyue gently patted the little turtle’s head and smiled:

“You’re amazing — you know so much. I don’t mind at all. Let’s work hard together.”

The little turtle rubbed its head against her palm contentedly.

“Alright, Host.”

Ning Xiyue’s eyes then turned to the final practice exercise of the lesson. After the lecture, she was excited to try it.

When she clicked it — it did not disappoint.

She entered a practice room, equipped with all the tools and materials she’d need. After selecting them, she could begin weaving.

Ding! [Reminder: The passing score for this exercise is 60 points. Only by reaching the passing score can you leave the simulation room. If you wish to leave without passing, you must consume two sign-in opportunities as a penalty.]

“Got it. I don’t need that.”

Such valuable sign-in chances — Ning Xiyue had no intention of wasting them. She was confident that scoring 60 would be easy.

After selecting her materials and tools, she began weaving the basket she’d just learned.

Drawing from her earlier experience, her speed improved significantly, and she even mastered a few new techniques.

Before long, a proper-looking basket was finished — far better than the one she had made in class.

This one was sturdy, tightly woven, and stable — no fear of it falling apart. It even looked nice. Though still not quite as good as the baskets Aunt Qiuju sold, it wasn’t far off.

Satisfied, Ning Xiyue placed the basket on the submission platform.

“Submit.”

The platform lit up red.

Ding! [After evaluation, your work scored 59 points. Not passing. Please try again.]

“What?!”

Ning Xiyue was shocked — she’d actually failed, and by one single point.

She almost spat blood. Missing by a lot was one thing, but missing by one point was infuriating.

She’d thought passing would be easy, but clearly the system’s standards were strict. She guessed Aunt Qiuju’s level was probably only just barely above passing.

“Where did I lose that one point?” she muttered, stroking her chin.

Most likely, it was in appearance or technique proficiency.

Practice makes perfect.

Not discouraged, Ning Xiyue continued weaving.

One basket. Two baskets…

Her scores even dropped lower and lower — until the tenth basket.

“This one has to pass,” she said confidently as she carried her tenth basket to the submission platform.

Ding! [After evaluation, your work scored 65 points. Congratulations, you passed! Well done — keep it up!]

Ning Xiyue finally breathed a sigh of relief, a smile spreading across her face.

Ding! [You may take your practice work with you. Have a pleasant day — goodbye.]

Now this was great — a free basket without using any materials.

Holding her tenth, passing basket, Ning Xiyue practically floated out of the practice room with a relaxed smile.

Next time she had free time, she’d come back and aim for a higher score — and take home a few more.

After leaving, she stored the basket in her mustard seed space for future use.

With her consciousness completely exiting the system inventory and returning to her body, Ning Xiyue instinctively glanced at the watch on her wrist — and was slightly surprised.

She was just out having a meal when — poof — she disappeared. When Ning Xiyue opened her eyes again, she had already transmigrated into the 1970s — and worse, she was now a minor cannon-fodder character in a “lucky mascot + everyone dotes on the heroine” era novel, a love-brained side character whose only purpose was to deliver resources and equipment to the female lead. Ning Xiyue declares: “No way! I refuse to be a love-brain.” She will tear apart scumbag men and b*tchy women with her bare hands. If someone takes what belongs to her — they’ll return it. If someone eats what’s hers — they’ll spit it back out. Did someone give away something that might become her future “golden finger” (cheat item)? She’ll snatch it back. If the cheat isn’t useful to her? She’ll smash it to pieces with a brick rather than let anyone else benefit from it. The scumbag man who harmed the original owner? She’ll kick him all the way to the desolate northwest. And the “white lotus” cousin who conspired with him to kill the original owner — and who is supposedly the female lead? She’d better prepare to face Ning Xiyue’s wrath. Later, Ning Xiyue obtained a golden finger of her own — a sign-in system where everything in the world could be signed in and acquired. With this system, she happily went to the countryside as a “sent-down youth,” supporting rural development. But once she arrived, she realized that the novel she had transmigrated into wasn’t so simple after all. The scheming cousin isn’t the real female lead? There’s someone else who is? Ning Xiyue says: “I don’t care who the female lead is. That white lotus cousin isn’t escaping — I’m still going to beat her up and torture her.” As for the real heroine — why not just sit back, munch melon seeds, watch the drama unfold, and focus on building her own career? Note: The male lead is mostly a background character and doesn’t appear much.
