Don’t Even Think About Reincarnating – CH145

The Scriptwriter

Chapter 145: The Scriptwriter

After such a rich pre-bedtime activity, Gu Qinghuan slept soundly.

Having no homework was this blissful—she woke up the next morning full of energy.

The weekend’s program shoots went on as usual, though students could decide whether to attend. If a student didn’t show up, it would just be the artist’s rehearsal.

Of course, how could Gu Qinghuan miss such a good opportunity to watch!

She got up half an hour later than usual, bought a pork tenderloin pancake and soy milk for breakfast, and leisurely took the bus to school.

Several people were already active in the class group, chatting casually.

Qin Yue: “The morning air is really nice.”

Zhan Chuchen: “You just sneezed really hard, didn’t you?”

Xie Xiangxue: “I happened to capture it [image]”

Qin Yue: “Recall it! Delete it!”

Jiang Chuchu: “Saved it, sent to my brother, sent to your brother.”

Qin Yue: “Jiang Chuchu!!!”

Gu Qinghuan swallowed the last bite of her pancake and typed on her phone: “Where are you guys?”

Zhan Chuchen: “Qin Yue and I are practicing on the basketball court. It’s close to Ye Weiyu’s team’s rehearsal room. The four backup dancers are noisy, and we can hear them from here.”

Xie Xiangxue: “I’m in a rehearsal room on the same floor. The school allows students to freely apply for practice rooms. I asked a senior in the club to help me reserve one yesterday.”

Jiang Chuchu: “I’m in the rehearsal room too, simultaneously training my willpower while writing big characters.”

Everyone expressed genuine sympathy for Jiang Chuchu.

When Gu Qinghuan reached the school gate, she messaged Le Yi: “I’m at the school gate!”

A few minutes later, Le Yi replied: “I’m with the scriptwriter at the square behind the Teaching Building, discussing the performance. Come over.”

The scriptwriter was here? Gu Qinghuan was curious. She swung her bag onto her back, pressed one hand against it, and ran toward the square.

When she excitedly arrived, she immediately saw the PD, the cameraman, Le Yi, and… huh?

Gu Qinghuan slowed down, surprised to see the young man sitting with Le Yi: “Wen Ye?”

Wen Ye had been a bit nervous, but hearing Gu Qinghuan call his name, he relaxed and smiled. “You still remember me.”

“Of course I remember,” Gu Qinghuan nodded. “You’re the author? You wrote this script?”

“Technically, it’s a work by my mom and me together,” Wen Ye replied. “She wrote the outline; I refined it. I was responsible for yesterday’s revisions, so when Le suggested having the author serve as the scriptwriter and performance guide, my mom asked me to do it.”

Gu Qinghuan carefully looked at Wen Ye. He had changed a lot since she last saw him.

Previously, he had seemed prickly, silent, and slightly resentful; now his aura was calm and steady.

Le Yi curiously asked, “You two know each other?”

“A little,” Gu Qinghuan said. The details involved Wen Ye’s private life; unless he brought it up, she wouldn’t.

Wen Ye was frank: “My family situation wasn’t great before. I happened to meet Gu Qinghuan, and she gave me some advice.”

“Did it help?” Gu Qinghuan asked.

“Yes,” Wen Ye nodded firmly. “Sister Liu provided store surveillance as evidence, and some former customers helped me contact my mom’s old breakfast shop clients. Many remembered the incident, willingly testified, and accompanied me to court.”

“Su Lin and her mom also provided the police report and a guarantee Zhang Guangzong wrote to evade responsibility. Taken together, the court concluded that Zhang Guangzong was likely to continue harming my mom, so the protection order was successfully granted.”

“Zhang Guangzong is the type to bully the weak and fear the strong. Especially since his mother is now in prison, he’s afraid of being arrested himself, so he’s keeping far away.”

Le Yi realized the matter was serious and quietly whispered a few things to the PD to ensure these details wouldn’t be aired.

Gu Qinghuan was happy for Wen Ye. “How are you and your mom doing now?”

A smile deepened on Wen Ye’s face: “After the protection order, the community women’s association sent someone to check on my mom. They knew her skills and invited her to help guide a night market food street they were developing.”

“Although her hand was injured, short-term guidance was fine. Many small stalls even paid my mom extra to research flavors regularly.”

“After a month, a social media influencer suggested my mom start her own media channel. I accompanied her, learning filming and editing, posting short videos.”

“As her fanbase grew, businesses approached for collaboration. One said my editing was good and asked if I wanted work. That’s how I got involved in short dramas.”

Gu Qinghuan roughly guessed his next step: “Then you realized short dramas are profitable and started trying to write scripts?”

Wen Ye looked a little embarrassed: “Actually, I only wrote things that fit the market, aiming to monetize quickly. If this drama’s concept is up to me, there’s no way you’d pick it.”

“Yesterday, during discussion, you were very familiar with this script. You said you also wanted to write it, wasn’t that enough?” Gu Qinghuan said. “Next rehearsal, let’s collaborate!”

Wen Ye responded, “Mm. I’ll cooperate.”

Seeing the two discuss so harmoniously, Le Yi felt reassured. He thought he could leave Gu Qinghuan and Wen Ye to discuss performance on their own—until Gu Qinghuan turned her head.

“The registration forms are done, right? Props requested? Why hasn’t the costume been issued?” She fired three questions at once.

Le Yi’s expression stiffened, and he unconsciously shrank his neck. “Forms are done, props are still being finalized, costumes are waiting for the other side’s digital catalog.”

Gu Qinghuan’s face was full of exasperation. “Move it!”

Le Yi: Are you a military training instructor or what?

Yet Gu Qinghuan wasn’t entirely unreasonable. Le Yi obediently went to coordinate.

Wen Ye, not looking at the camera, quietly asked Gu Qinghuan: “Are you still attending Su Lin’s tutoring sessions?”

Gu Qinghuan nodded: “Yes, but this week’s program filming paused them.”

Wen Ye hesitated, then asked: “I watched last night’s program too. I saw some online comments criticizing her. Do you know how she’s doing now?”

Gu Qinghuan regarded Wen Ye for a moment, then straightened her posture: “Firstly, those who criticized her last night have mostly calmed down. With someone like Lou Cheng stepping in, it won’t have much effect. As far as I know, she didn’t take it to heart.”

She noticed Wen Ye visibly relaxed, clearly genuinely worried about Su Lin.

“Secondly,” Gu Qinghuan added, “I want to know, why don’t you just ask her yourself?”

From their first meeting, Gu Qinghuan sensed Wen Ye liked Su Lin—but his affection was reckless and self-centered.

Now, although he had changed somewhat, he still seemed timid.

Wen Ye stiffened, then bitterly said: “I’m too far behind her—not in terms of family, but myself. I just don’t measure up.”

  • The real daughter in a “real vs. fake daughter” story no longer yearns for her family’s love and care.

  • The substitute supporting girl in a “school bully and delicate flower” romance refuses to get entangled and heads toward a bright future.

  • The lovesick heiress in a “chasing-wife-after-failed-marriage” story sees no need to beg for false love.

  • The affectionate second male lead no longer has time to drown his sorrows in alcohol, too busy playing the “class mom” and worrying about everyone.

  • The violent supporting male who once fought for love now believes in the police more than in his fists.

System: [Honestly, I didn’t expect you to complete the mission this well.]
Gu Qinghuan: [This wasn’t my power alone.]

The word sunflower is not because it turns toward the sun, but because its blossom already resembles the sun. They—just like sunflowers—are inherently bright and radiant.
