Chapter 156: Bursting with Envy
Su He: …Daniel is really someone you can rely on!
When something needs doing, he actually does it!
He even looks better than the artwork in the museum—which only proves that these fabrics must have artistic value. Perfectly in line with what she said earlier!
When Daniel noticed Su He giving him a look of appreciation, he was overjoyed.
He didn’t feel embarrassed at all to back down in front of Su He. In his eyes, strength deserved respect, and yielding to the strong was only natural.
Besides, why should he be the only one to suffer? If he could pull someone else into the mess, he absolutely would!
Feeling he could contribute a bit more, Daniel asked, “Su, I’m really interested in these fabrics. How much per meter?”
Lisa quickly cut in, “Daniel, Su and I already made a deal. I’m buying this entire batch.”
Daniel gave a regretful expression. “In that case, Su, please let me know immediately if you get more like this. I’ll buy everything you have!”
Su He nodded. “Sure!”
Daniel cast one last longing look at the samples before finally leaving.
Lisa didn’t suspect Daniel of being a plant at all. After all, he and Su He had previously argued, and as an American, he had no reason to get involved in her business.
So she genuinely thought Daniel was trying to compete with her for the goods.
“Su, your reasoning convinced me—but $1.2 per meter is way too expensive. If it were $1 per meter, I’d accept.”
Su He frowned. “Ms. Lisa, $1.2 is already the factory’s bottom price. Considering your previous order was below market rate, the average comes out to $1 per meter for this batch of printed linen.”
Su He was skilled at reading people. If she had agreed too quickly, Lisa would suspect she had quoted too high and might even back out.
So even though Su He was willing to accept $1 per meter, she still had to put on an act.
As the two continued to negotiate, Daniel came back—but this time, he didn’t approach. He simply sat at a distance, watching them.
Lisa immediately felt threatened and gritted her teeth. “$1.1 per meter. That’s my final offer!”
Su He hesitated. “I’ll discuss it with the factory and get back to you.”
Lisa glanced at Daniel and said, “Su, business is about integrity. We spoke first. Unless negotiations fall through, I have the first right to purchase this batch.”
Su He nodded. “Of course. Even if Daniel offered me $20 per meter, I wouldn’t sell it to him.”
Only then did Lisa finally relax and leave.
As soon as she was gone, Daniel came trotting over enthusiastically.
To Su He now, Daniel looked like a walking good-luck charm!
“Mr. Daniel, do you need any help?”
Daniel leaned in and lowered his voice. “That miser agreed to your price?”
Su He: “…”
Trying to claim credit now?
“She basically agreed. Thank you for your help.”
Daniel puffed out his chest. “This kind of thing is my specialty. Call me anytime you need help.”
Su He thought he was going to ask for something in return—but after boasting for a bit, he just left.
Su He: “…”
That evening, after dinner, Su He had just returned to her room when Principal Chen showed up.
“Well? Did you close the deal?”
Su He sighed, “Lisa didn’t accept $1 per meter.”
Principal Chen gave a “knew it” expression. “Didn’t I tell you? Life isn’t always smooth sailing, and you’re not invincible. A little setback is good for you…”
“She insisted on giving me $1.1 per meter—I couldn’t even stop her. I thought $1 per meter would be good enough, but it ended up exceeding expectations! Sigh… how am I going to explain this to Chief Yu tomorrow…”
Principal Chen: “…I’m going back to sleep.”
Is that Lisa woman out of her mind?
She’s paying that much for defective fabric?
Another setback plan, completely ruined!
After Principal Chen left, the Trading System popped out.
[Host, you’re going to make a ton of money with this order! Don’t forget your promise—365 skins!]
Su He gave it a side glance. “Doggo, you’ve got to think long-term! This little bit of money is nothing yet! Wait until I hit one of my small goals—that’s when we can talk about being rich!”
The system quickly searched up what a “small goal” was—and fell silent.
Ten million yuan?!
Looks like it’d be stuck wearing that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle skin forever!
Su He comforted it, “Don’t worry, I make money fast! Besides, your current skin is super cute. Haven’t you heard that saying? ‘Life’s more flavorful with a touch of green on your head.’ And you’re not just a touch—you’re green all over! So stylish!”
The system felt like something was off… but couldn’t quite say what.
—
The next morning, Su He was about to head to the textile factory when she got a call from Section Chief Wei at the food factory.
“Little Su, come over for a bit. I’ve asked Old Xu to pick you up.”
Su He figured, why not—she’d get a free ride.
So she brought Principal Chen and went to the food factory.
As soon as they met, Section Chief Wei smiled and said, “Little Su, the factory has approved your part-time application. You’re officially hired as a part-time sales rep for the S City Food Factory—with full employee benefits. From now on, we’re colleagues! Welcome aboard!”
Su He wasn’t surprised by the result, but still put on a perfectly timed expression of surprise and joy.
Section Chief Wei continued, “After some discussion, the factory has decided to pay you 1,000 yuan as a design fee and another 1,000 yuan as a bonus for securing the order. I’ll take you to the finance department in a bit to sign for your payment.”
Su He: She hadn’t expected the S City Food Factory to be this generous!
She had assumed she’d only get a few hundred as a token of thanks—but they actually gave this much!
In truth, the factory had weighed multiple factors. On one hand, they believed Su He still had untapped potential and could bring in even more orders in the future.
On the other hand, there was that instant noodle production line.
They hoped Su He could help finalize the deal quickly and offload the project, which was becoming a burden on the factory’s development.
Principal Chen was feeling incredibly sour inside.
He had worked himself to the bone all year and hadn’t even earned 2,000 yuan!
And here this young girl came to S City, didn’t spend a dime, and walked away 2,000 yuan richer!
Where’s the justice in that?!
Oh, and the textile factory might give her even more!
At this point, the old man was practically bubbling over with jealousy!
