Chapter 47: I’ll Smash Your Head In
It wasn’t just the viewers who were baffled—Chi Qian and Chi Fengxiao were too.
What on earth made Gu Hua think they were such pushovers?
Was it her waterlogged brain?
“Qian Qian, Brother Chi, we’re a team,” Gu Hua said sweetly. “Everything is shared—water, food, shelter. That includes the gold you found. No hoarding, okay?”
Chi Fengxiao shot back, “It’s not like we didn’t bring back anything useful. You’re just fixated on the gold, huh? ‘Sharing’ sounds nice, but really you just want a free ride.”
Ling Qian frowned. “The gold on this island doesn’t belong to you. Whoever sees it has a share.”
Wen Li chimed in, “Fengxiao, Hua Hua’s not wrong. None of us kept things to ourselves. It doesn’t look good for you two to do so.”
Shen Jing added, “But the value isn’t equal. What they found belongs to them. Whether or not they share is up to them. You can’t just force it.”
Exactly—there was no reason to strong-arm them.
Chi Qian and Chi Fengxiao didn’t owe them anything.
Luo Fan wisely stayed silent on the side.
He had seen the gold too, and to be honest, he was tempted.
They’d all worked hard the whole afternoon, yet only Chi Qian’s group had found anything.
It was natural for people to feel jealous.
But would Chi Qian really hand over the gold?
“You want this, right?” Chi Qian plucked a nugget from the bucket and tossed it casually in her hand.
“Qian Qian,” Gu Hua said quickly, “this belongs to everyone.”
“Everyone?” Chi Qian’s lips curled. Then suddenly, she hurled the nugget with all her strength—straight into the ocean.
Splash.
The gold was gone.
Gu Hua’s eyes went wide. “You—what are you doing?!”
Chi Qian lazily shoved her hands in her pockets. “Didn’t you want it? Go get it yourselves. What, don’t you have hands and legs?”
“You’re going too far!” Gu Hua protested angrily. “Any effort should come with something in return. If you refuse to hand over the gold, don’t blame us for refusing to share our water and food with you!”
It was nearly dark. No matter how capable Chi Qian was, there was no way she could run back into the forest at this hour and find water and food in such a short time.
Oh, right—she didn’t even have a shelter.
That barrel of gold, Gu Hua was determined to have it!
Tang Xin whispered timidly, “That’s not fair…”
Wen Li gave her a lukewarm glance. “Xinxin, don’t stick your nose in.”
Tang Xin grew anxious, glancing at Chi Qian. She wanted to help but was powerless.
Chi Qian, however, remained perfectly calm. “Uncle, grab our stuff—we’re leaving.”
Chi Fengxiao had been waiting for her word. He immediately strode over and scooped up everything they had brought back, not leaving a single item behind.
Ling Qian tried to stop him, but Chi Fengxiao shoved him aside.
“As if we actually cared about sticking around with you lot.” He sneered. “Go play on your own.”
After they left, Shen Jing silently packed up with Shen Jiashu and followed along.
That left only three teams behind.
“Honestly, do we really need that gold?” Luo Fan drawled lazily. “They’ve left already—if we keep pressing, it’ll just make us look bad.”
Gu Hua said firmly, “They’ll come crawling back to us.”
“Oh?”
“They’ve got no tent, no water, no food. They won’t last long.”
Ling Qian nodded in agreement. “Chi Qian is crazy enough, but why is Chi Fengxiao following her? It’s just one barrel of gold. Would it kill them to hand it over?”
Now things had soured, with the three groups opposing them. Let’s see what Chi Qian’s side could possibly amount to.
Gu Hua smiled confidently and said nothing more.
After all, their group had already secured the best campsite on the island: sheltered from the wind, with a good view.
Chi Qian’s group? They’d be forced to camp on the exposed side. If a wave hit in the middle of the night, they’d be swept away.
[Chi Qian is way too stingy. It’s just a barrel of gold! It’s not like Gu Hua’s group is freeloading.]
[Exactly. The gold they dug up on the island doesn’t belong to her alone. Selfish people deserve to be abandoned.]
[Lmao, spare me your halo. The “saintly glow” is blinding.]
[I’m dying! Did you see how fast Chi Qian walked off? She practically carved “Don’t You Dare Touch Me” on the back of her head.]
[Hehe, honestly, I wouldn’t want to stay with that bunch either. Opening their mouths and already trying to steal the gold Chi Fengxiao and Qian worked their asses off for?]
Chi Fengxiao’s fanbase was huge. Even with trolls stirring things up, his supporters instantly crushed them.
Insult her brother? Fine. But insult their sister? They’d smash your head in.
Not long after, Chi Qian’s group found a place to set up camp.
Nearby stood a cluster of palm trees, with the forest behind and the beach about twenty meters away.
They hammered bamboo stalks into the ground, then built tents on top.
“Tents,” in this case, meant palm leaves and bamboo lashed together—just big enough for one person each.
“Qian Qian, why are the tents built so high off the ground?” Chi Fengxiao asked while hauling bamboo.
“Because the tide might rise tonight,” Chi Qian replied. “And I don’t think you want to wake up floating out at sea.”
“How did you know that?”
Chi Qian pulled out a turtle shell from her pocket, looking all serious. “The turtle shell told me.”
Chi Fengxiao rubbed his nose. He was used to her nonsense by now.
While the others kept working, Chi Qian took Shen Jiashu down to the shore.
Since they were at the seaside, of course it was time to forage.
Beyond shellfish, the shallows teemed with life.
Sea urchins, blue crabs, octopus, baby abalone… even the ones hiding under rocks weren’t safe. Under Chi Qian’s “command,” Shen Jiashu dug them all out.
She stood there with her hands in her pockets, doing nothing but barking orders—staying true to her “lazy salted fish” philosophy.
The bucket in Shen Jiashu’s hands grew heavier and heavier, nearly impossible to lift.
Chi Qian tied an empty bucket to a rock with rope, then led him back.
The tents were finished, and Chi Fengxiao was huffing and puffing his way up a coconut tree—only to get stuck halfway.
“Monkey King! Finally, you’re back. I need you!” he yelled.
Chi Qian: “…”
Monkey King? Who?
“Don’t talk nonsense. Don’t go smearing my reputation.” She scowled. “I’m such a shy person. I don’t even dare kiss people in public—how could I possibly be a Monkey King?”
Chi Fengxiao clung to the trunk, laughing so hard he shook. “I even sleep under the bed at night! Don’t talk to me about shy. Now hurry up and help!”
Chi Qian waved him down. “All of you, step back.”
The three of them obeyed at once.
Chi Qian drew in a breath, raised her leg, and kicked the trunk of the palm tree—hard.
Thud!
She leapt back several steps just as a cluster of coconuts came crashing down, thumping into the sand and leaving dents.
She counted them. “Eight. Enough?”
“More than enough! My treasure, you’re my goddess tonight!” Chi Fengxiao blew her a kiss.
[I can’t watch anymore… My brother’s hopeless. Without Qian Qian, he’s like a fish out of water—done for. Without him, Qian Qian would actually have some peace.]
[Don’t be like that! At least my brother makes a good leg accessory!]
[Same with our Brother Shen. When the team was still together, he was always running around, busy as hell. Now he’s basically retired.]
[I’ve figured it out: without Qian Qian, this family’s going to fall apart sooner or later.]
