Mrs. Gu clearly knew the original price, and at that moment, a few more dark clouds appeared on her beautiful face as she looked at the owner, who had raised the price on the spot, with some displeasure.
A young assistant, looking rather capable despite her age, stepped out from behind Mrs. Gu and immediately spoke up to negotiate, “Three hundred million.”
The owner pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, his expression full of displeasure, but he didn’t say anything.
A woman in a yellow dress, heavily made up, emerged from behind the owner, looking unhappy and said, “If you don’t want to buy, don’t call us here, it’s really a waste of time!”
Xu Youyou was a bit curious about their relationship. If they were a couple, they didn’t seem very intimate, but if they weren’t a couple, the way the woman looked at the man was filled with affection.

Xu Youyou turned to her own agent and asked quietly, “Are they a couple?”
The agent lowered his voice and said, “The man’s wife left him six months ago. The woman with him now is probably his mistress…”
Xu Youyou immediately found this somewhat reasonable. She guessed that the man probably didn’t want people to think he was too cold-hearted, so he made sure to avoid suspicion in front of outsiders.
Meanwhile, the real estate agent for the Gu family was still trying to mediate, “Mr. Sun, Miss Huang, Mrs. Gu is truly interested in buying this villa. Let’s sit down and talk it through slowly.”
It seemed like things might settle down, but Xu Youyou wasn’t going to let the Gu family have their way. She seized the opportunity to speak up: “Mrs. Gu, if you don’t have the money, why are you acting so grand? Four hundred million is nothing, is it difficult for you?”
Mrs. Gu shot Xu Youyou a glare and turned to her own real estate agent, “Buying a house is a big deal, it’s better to not have idle people around.”
Xu Youyou immediately retorted, “What’s so big about buying a house? Isn’t it just like buying vegetables? It’s that casual.”
Mrs. Gu, on one hand, felt that Xu Youyou’s words sounded like the brash tone of a nouveau riche, but on the other hand, she couldn’t help but wonder if Xu Youyou was truly wealthy or pretending to be, and where exactly her cheap daughter’s money was coming from.
“Not even very old, yet speaking so arrogantly. If you’re capable, just buy the house. If you’re not, leave quickly. Don’t make a scene here,” Mrs. Gu said.
Xu Youyou smiled and replied, “Four hundred million, I think it’s doable. The real people without money are probably you guys, coming here to play at being rich.”
The agents that Xu Youyou had brought with her immediately perked up. Whether this deal went through or not was related to millions in commission. They quickly got to work, speaking to the owner, “A good property goes to the highest bidder. Since our client is interested, you can’t just chase us away.”
The owner smiled upon hearing this, his eyes scanning the group. “In that case, we can just hold an auction right here.”
Xu Youyou said, “I’ve already made an offer. If Mrs. Gu doesn’t have the money, she can leave right now.”
Mrs. Gu, feeling insulted, hesitated for a moment but then coldly raised her bid, “Four hundred and ten million.”
Xu Youyou smiled and said, “This price increase is still too slow. I’m not one of those people who pretends to be rich. Four hundred and fifty million.”
Mrs. Gu was startled. Xu Youyou’s price increase was so outrageous that she hesitated, unsure whether to continue.
Gu Xueying whispered from the side, “Mom, we can look at other houses. There’s no need to fight her here.”
The Gu family was wealthy, but their cash flow had been tight recently. If they hadn’t wasted billions on fake porcelain during their trip to the capital, she wouldn’t hesitate to raise the price to a billion now.
“Forget it…”
Before Mrs. Gu could finish her sentence, Xu Youyou interrupted.
“If you don’t have the money, don’t keep talking about being a rich family, acting like you’re some kind of precious gem that everyone desires,” Xu Youyou sneered.
The most successful thing in Mrs. Gu’s life was that she and her husband had built their vast fortune from scratch, originally from humble beginnings. She was very sensitive about others thinking that she didn’t have money.
“Four hundred and sixty million!” Mrs. Gu shouted impulsively.
Xu Youyou had been waiting for her to do this. She casually said, “Only you, Mrs. Gu, would be willing to pay such an inflated price for a house.”
Mrs. Gu immediately felt like she had been tricked but now found herself in a difficult situation, unable to back down.
Xu Youyou blocked her escape route, speaking directly to the owner, “Raising the price so high, I’m afraid some people are just shouting numbers and won’t be willing to pay when the time comes.”
The owner was thinking the same thing. His eyes were almost fixed on the Gu family mother and daughter. “I’m free today, I can go ahead with the transfer process.”
Mrs. Gu replied, “That’s a lot of money. I need a few days to raise the cash.”
Xu Youyou shot back, “Mrs. Gu, you sound a bit insecure now. Which real rich family doesn’t have hundreds of millions in liquid assets just lying around?”
Mrs. Gu shot Xu Youyou a resentful glare. If it weren’t for this ungrateful troublemaker constantly stirring things up, she wouldn’t be in this situation now, with the pressure mounting.
The final transaction price was a full ninety million more than what she had originally expected, and she didn’t know how to go home and explain this to her husband.
The owner clearly understood Xu Youyou’s role in this and turned to her, saying, “Miss Xu, if you’re free, could you accompany us to complete the transfer? I’d feel more at ease with more people involved.”
Xu Youyou replied, “I’m not in a hurry. I can help. But what are we waiting for here? Hasn’t the agent prepared the contract yet?”
“Alright, alright!”
The agents Mrs. Gu brought with her quickly filled in the numbers on the standard contract and were almost shoving the document into Mrs. Gu’s face.
Mrs. Gu looked at the penalty fee on the contract, her brow twitching slightly. She took the pen, but for a moment, couldn’t bring herself to sign.
When she looked up, she saw Xu Youyou looking at her with a “I knew you couldn’t afford it” expression.
Immediately, it was as if she lost control, and with a snap, she signed the contract. The agent then pushed the red stamp forward, and she pressed her handprint heavily down, thinking to herself, “It’s only ninety million more. The family doesn’t lack this little bit of money…”
Xu Youyou happily accompanied them to the housing authority.
By the time the transaction process was finished, Gu Xueying received a brand new red property title. The smile on Mrs. Gu’s face had nearly completely disappeared, and she left in a terrible mood, dragging her daughter away. The white-haired young man who had been following them, however, was a step slower.
The original owner smiled at Xu Youyou and said, “Miss Xu, I really appreciate you today. I must thank you properly.”
