Chapter 177: The Secretary: Our Boss is Here for a Cheating Scandal
This box of nails was something Fang Xiaocao chose to use as makeshift throwing knives. Although they were a bit light, they were still usable. Compared to real throwing knives, their advantage lay in being cheap and available in large quantities.
Carrying her supplies back to the inn, Fang Xiaocao went straight upstairs to her room—Room 215 on the second floor.
She had deliberately chosen this room.
The second floor had a balcony, which made it convenient for escape.
Swiping the keycard to unlock the door, Fang Xiaocao placed all her items on the floor.
After thoroughly checking the room to ensure there were no hidden cameras, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She put on the newly purchased gear, packed the backups into her backpack, and placed the bag within easy reach before relaxing a little.
Everything was set, just waiting for the Blacklist to come.
She ordered takeout and lay on the bed, picking up her phone to message Hot Noodles on WeChat.
“Future me, can you get me a combat training program? I need to improve my skills.”
Just thinking about combat training made Fang Xiaocao’s teeth ache.
She still remembered the expensive combat classes she had signed up for and the gym membership she had bought. She had only gone once before never attending again.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to go—
It was just that, during this period, she had either been running for her life or was on the verge of being hunted. She never had time to attend class.
“Sigh…”
“My poor money…”
“Just gone like that…”
Fang Xiaocao sighed.
Hot Noodles: “Got it!”
Hot Noodles: “Let me think.”
Hot Noodles: “I need to choose a combat technique that’s both practical and easy to learn.”
“Alright, thanks!”
Seeing the reply, Fang Xiaocao sent another message.
“But please hurry up.”
“I need to improve my strength as soon as possible!”
Hot Noodles: “I know, I’ll be quick.”
After finishing the conversation, Fang Xiaocao exited WeChat and opened a short-video app, searching for combat training videos.
Since she had some free time, she might as well practice.
Maybe she was a genius—
Or maybe the videos made things easy to learn.
After just half an hour of following along, Fang Xiaocao already felt like she was getting better.
“Hmm~”
“So this is what getting stronger feels like~”
She clenched her fist and murmured.
Knock, knock, knock—
At that moment, someone knocked on the door.
Fang Xiaocao immediately stopped her last-minute training, gripping a few steel nails in her hand as she moved cautiously toward the door.
“Who is it?”
She asked warily.
“Hello, your takeout!”
A man’s voice came from outside.
Hearing this, Fang Xiaocao glanced at her phone.
Seeing that the food delivery app showed an arrival notification, she finally opened the door.
Of course, she remained on guard.
The nails in her hand were ready to be thrown at any moment, and her hypnosis ability was fully prepared.
If the delivery guy showed even the slightest abnormal movement, she would strike immediately.
No matter what kind of enemy was outside, she would take them down first and ask questions later.
“Hello, here’s your food.”
The delivery guy smiled as he handed over the still-warm meal.
Fang Xiaocao scrutinized him. Seeing nothing suspicious, she finally accepted the food and smiled.
“Thanks!”
“No problem, enjoy your meal!”
The delivery guy replied cheerfully.
“Thanks!”
Fang Xiaocao thanked him again before closing the door.
She carried the food to the table but didn’t eat immediately. Instead, she carefully recalled whether the delivery guy had shown any unusual behavior.
Blacklist’s disguises and widespread influence had made her extremely paranoid.
She always had to be on guard against potential assassination attempts.
After carefully thinking it over and confirming there was nothing strange about the delivery guy, she let out a breath of relief.
She then checked the food packaging to ensure it had not been tampered with.
Only after waiting a few minutes, without receiving any suspicious messages from Hot Noodles, did she finally tear open the packaging and begin eating cautiously.
—
Bang!
A loud crash rang out.
A door flew off its hinges, smashing into furniture and decorations before finally stopping.
A massive figure stepped onto the fallen door panel and entered the hotel room. His fierce gaze swept around, but he saw no sign of Fang Xiaocao.
His eyes instantly filled with murderous intent.
Turning his head, he glared at the female secretary beside him.
His gaze was as terrifying as a raging lion.
“What’s going on?”
“Where is the target?”
He asked coldly.
“She was just here…”
The female secretary stammered.
“Useless!”
The man—known as Taotie—cursed angrily and turned to leave.
“Keep searching. If this happens again, you can end yourself.”
His voice was icy.
“Understood…”
Hearing the implied threat, the female secretary shuddered and nodded fearfully.
“Oh, and one more thing.”
Taotie suddenly stopped, turning his gaze back to her.
The female secretary’s face instantly turned pale.
She trembled, terrified.
“Pay for the door and the furniture.”
“If money can solve the problem, use money.”
With a mocking smile, he gave the order before disappearing into his own room.
“Phew…”
Only after he left did the female secretary let out a breath of relief.
“Damn, that scared me.”
She patted her chest, still shaken.
Remembering Taotie’s order, she hurried downstairs.
As she reached the staircase, she ran into the hotel staff rushing over due to the commotion.
“Sorry about this, we’ll pay the full price.”
“Our boss is here for a cheating scandal… “
“He just lost control for a moment…”
She said with a guilty look, her expression filled with hesitation as if she were holding back from saying more.
Hearing this, the hotel staff swallowed the words they had been about to say.
And when she offered to pay ten times the cost of the damages, along with additional compensation, the staff had nothing more to say.
“Phew…”
After fooling the hotel staff, the female secretary let out another sigh of relief.
Then, she pulled out her phone and sent an angry message to the intelligence team, demanding an explanation.
Because of their mistake, she nearly lost her life.
Even a clay figurine would have some temper—
No matter how good her personality was, after barely escaping death, she was bound to be furious.
