Chapter 123: Just Plain Ridiculous
Su He finished sketching her design at Teacher Yuan’s house. Since it was still early, she helped him organize some documents.
“Teacher Yuan, I’ll be going on a trip soon. I’ll be away for at least ten days to half a month. I’ll help you organize the rest when I’m back.”
Teacher Yuan was surprised. “Where are you going?”
“To the S City.”
“What are you going there for?”
“Business trip!”
“Business trip? Which unit is sending you?”
“That’s still up in the air. It could be a food factory, or maybe a night school, or even a textile factory. Mechanical plant and broadcast station are also possible.”
Teacher Yuan: “……”
If Su He didn’t look so serious, he would’ve thought she was talking nonsense!
After confirming that Su He really was going to S City, Teacher Yuan hesitated. “I do have a few acquaintances there, but… you know how things are lately—it’s hard to get in touch. Otherwise, I’d help you out.”
Su He understood his concerns and said with a grin, “No need. As long as I walk around the S City once, I’ll be acquainted with half of it!”
Teacher Yuan couldn’t take it anymore: “You’re still young, and all you know is how to brag! Get out—go, go, go!”
Su He laughed. “I’ll bring you a gift when I return!”
Just as she was about to leave, Teacher Yuan called out, “Wait!”
He went into his study and came back with a small slip of paper that had a name and an address on it.
“This is an old friend of mine. If you run into trouble, go find him.”
Su He felt warm inside. She knew this might cause trouble for Teacher Yuan, but he still gave it to her.
Her voice caught a little: “Got it.”
But in her heart, she decided not to use it—she didn’t want to cause any trouble for him.
Seeing her eyes redden, Teacher Yuan was sure she had been moved by his gesture.
He thought—this is the perfect chance to adopt a granddaughter!
So he said, “Little Su, I’m getting old. Sometimes, especially in the quiet of night… I feel lonely.”
Su He sniffled. “You want me to help you find a partner? I can totally do that! I’ll line up some nice ladies for you to meet—and we’ll have a Sunset Serenade concert!”
Teacher Yuan: “…Get out! Get as far away as possible!”
Su He scratched her nose—wait, didn’t he say he was lonely late at night? Wasn’t that exactly what it sounded like?
Did she just mess up a perfect moment with her joke?
Or… was he just being shy?
Leaving Teacher Yuan’s place, Su He went straight to see Cao Hongmei.
As usual, Su Jinbao ran over to cling to her. Su He could practically see a wagging tail behind him!
She handed over the fabric and design sketches. “Second Aunt, when you have time, can you make these hair accessories? Make sure no outsiders see them.”
Cao Hongmei quickly agreed.
She lit up the moment she saw the sketches—these hair accessories were going to be beautiful!
“Little He, is this for another new order from the Huaihua Commune?”
Su He nodded.
It wasn’t just about new orders—if things went smoothly, they might be able to set up a local branch next year.
A textile branch would be too expensive; the main factory wouldn’t approve.
But a hair accessory branch? That was much more feasible.
Didn’t Director Feng say she could take on any position part-time? Then she’d be the branch factory director herself!
Still, this couldn’t be rushed. She needed to build up sales first before pushing forward.
Cao Hongmei then asked about Fu Peng: “Little He, do you think Principal Chen will discipline him? He seems like a nice old man. Fu Peng didn’t show his face much either—maybe just a verbal warning?”
Su He smiled. “Second Aunt, you really don’t understand Principal Chen.”
He only had one bottom line—the night school.
Fu Peng tried to damage its reputation out of personal spite. There was no way Principal Chen would let him off lightly.
Of course, her behind-the-scenes sabotage also played a part.
Cao Hongmei looked worried. “Will Fu Peng try to retaliate against you?”
“Don’t worry, he doesn’t have the guts.”
Fu Peng wasn’t like Lin Bo. He was far more cautious—otherwise, he wouldn’t have pushed Zhu Yanli to act on his behalf.
If Su He hadn’t provoked him lately, he probably wouldn’t have gone that far either.
But even if he did want revenge, she wasn’t scared.
The exchange station had loads of self-defense tools. Not to mention—there was also the “dog-ass” exchange system.
Exchange System: Excuse me??
Sure enough, that evening when she met with Principal Chen, the first thing he said was: “Fu Peng has been transferred back.”
Then he added, “I spoke to his principal. Someone like him isn’t suited to be a teacher. I believe they’ll find a more appropriate role for him.”
Su He smiled and said nothing.
Principal Chen thought she’d gloat or comment. When she stayed silent, he gave her a meaningful look: “Did you deliberately hide your identity to trap him?”
Su He blinked innocently. “Weren’t you the one delaying my official hiring to test me?!”
Principal Chen: “……”
Fine, it didn’t matter.
A little scheming wasn’t a bad thing. Better that than getting taken advantage of.
Knowing Fu Peng, if the girl hadn’t been sharp, she might’ve really been tricked.
“By the way, Principal, did we get the funding?”
At the mention of funding, Principal Chen lit up.
The higher-ups had sent it that very morning. The night school could now expand enrollment!
Su He brought up her trip to the S City again, but Principal Chen looked troubled.
“I’m swamped right now with the enrollment push. Let’s wait until autumn.”
Su He: …It’s only early summer! And you’re putting me off until autumn?!
She fluttered her lashes. “If the instant noodle deal works out, I’ll ask the food factory to donate to the night school.”
Principal Chen shot up: “Let’s catch the overnight train!”
Su He: “……No need to rush. I still have some things to finish. Once I’m done in a few days, we’ll go.”
“Oh right, Principal, I’m an off-campus advisor now. Can you add a desk for me in your office? I’ll work from here from now on.”
Principal Chen: “……Close the door on your way out.”
Be glad I’m giving you a desk. Work in my office? Dream on!
How am I supposed to fix my hair with you around?
Finally, Su He headed to Teacher Zhou’s office.
Now that Fu Peng was gone, his desk was up for grabs—so she took it.
Teacher Zhou looked at her with a complicated expression. Wasn’t she just some auditor dropping off a performance list a while ago?
How was she bold enough to get to this point?
Now she was sitting across from him… as a colleague.
It was just—ridiculous.
