Chapter 12: Find Someone to Impersonate Chi Lisen!
The other students whispered, “She got us all punished with demerits. We’re never talking to her again.”
“So what if her grandpa’s Chi Lisen? Nobody’s going to play with her anyway, haha.”
“Heh, He Fangzhi and Xu Zhiqing are really pitiful, still grounded at home for reflection.”
“We’re moving up to senior high next semester. Just thinking about being in the same school as Chi Qian makes me mad. I’ll show her what’s what…”
The exam bell rang, cutting the chatter short as the proctor walked in.
Chi Qian skimmed the paper, stifling a yawn, then began answering.
Halfway through, she caught a blur flying toward her from the corner of her eye. Casually, she raised her hand and blocked it.
“Lin Rui, what’s this?!” The teacher marched over to the boy who had thrown the paper wad.
Lin Rui froze. He had clearly aimed at Chi Qian—so how had it bounced back?
Thinking fast, he blurted, “Teacher, Chi Qian told me to throw her the answers! I knew it was wrong, so I was about to report her!”
Chi Qian: “Teacher, Lin Rui is third from the bottom of the class. I’m first in the class. I’d have to be suicidal to ask him for answers.”
Lin Rui scrambled to change his story. “I-I said it wrong. She was the one throwing me the answers!”
Chi Qian shrugged. “Then let’s have the teacher compare the handwriting on the note. See if it’s mine.”
Lin Rui was struck dumb.
The proctor, having heard Chi Qian was Chi Lisen’s granddaughter, dared not brush it off. He immediately called in another teacher to review the surveillance.
The footage showed only Lin Rui sneaking around. Chi Qian had done nothing but write her exam.
“Lin Rui, stop writing. Come out with me.” The teacher’s tone was harsh.
Lin Rui’s face burned. He had never been so humiliated. Before leaving, he shot Chi Qian a venomous glare.
Chi Qian lazily raised her hand. “Teacher, I’d like to hand in my paper early.”
Lin Rui nearly coughed blood.
What, writing fast makes you so great? Writing fast doesn’t mean you’ll ace it!
Hah—let’s see you score first in the whole grade then!
The rest of the exams passed without incident. Soon, they were over.
And so, Chi Qian’s middle school career came to an end with the ringing of the bell.
Her homeroom teacher organized a graduation party right after school.
The venue: Golden Splendor, an exclusive, members-only entertainment club in Fuguang City.
It wasn’t just their class—other classes were hosting parties there too.
For example, Ling Qian and Gu Hua’s sophomore class.
Gu Hua had skipped a grade in elementary school, so she was in the same class as Ling Qian.
When she heard that Chi Qian was also here, Gu Hua came over with Ling Qian specifically to find her.
Chi Qian picked up her plate and was about to get some desserts when Ling Qian, his handsome face twisted in irritation, blocked her way. His tone was filled with impatience, “Chi Qian, don’t push it too far. Fang Zhi and Zhiqing used to treat you so well, but you ruined them to the point they didn’t even show up for their finals. And you still have the face to come to this party?”
Chi Qian: “Eighth-grader syndrome is a disease, and you’re really sick. Better buy yourself an Ultraman-themed urn early. Who knows—after you die, at least you’ll still bring someone a laugh.”
“You—!”
Gu Hua quickly tugged at Ling Qian. “Brother Fang Zhi, Qian Qian probably didn’t do it on purpose. There must be some misunderstanding. We can just talk it through, right, Qian Qian?”
Chi Qian smiled sweetly. “Talk to your mom. Keep yapping and I’ll slap you.”
(What, trying to steal her fate again? Not a chance.)
Gu Hua’s face fell, looking pitiful. “Qian Qian, I’m only worried about you. Besides…”
She suddenly raised her voice: “You’re not Chi Lisen’s granddaughter at all! That day, those people must have been actors you hired! I’ve lived in the Chi family for more than ten years—no one knows better than me what kind of person Grandpa is!”
In truth, she had only seen Chi’s grandfather once—a middle-aged man, like a butler.
And Chi Qian, claiming she was Chi Lisen’s granddaughter? What a joke. Dream on!
Gu Hua felt like heaven itself was helping her!
This was the perfect chance to kick Chi Qian out of her sight for good!
Right then, the deafening music in the private room stopped, and everyone clearly heard Gu Hua’s words.
“Chi Qian actually hired actors to trick us into thinking her grandfather is Chi Lisen? How vain can she get?”
“I knew something was off. If she’s really a rich young lady, I’ll twist off my head and use it as a soccer ball!”
“Scheming little pauper, pulling stunts just to look rich.”
“‘Miss Chi,’ if I slap you right now, would the Chi Corporation sue me? Boo-hoo-hoo.”
“The Chi Corporation would probably cheer me on. Who wouldn’t want to smack this shameless poser pretending to be their chairman’s granddaughter?”
Someone near Chi Qian dumped a glass of wine straight onto her head.
Chi Qian immediately grabbed his arm and slammed his face down against the table piled with wine bottles. “You think I’m too nice, huh?”
“Let go! Let go, ahhh!” the boy screamed in pain.
Ling Qian’s eyes filled with disdain. “Chi Qian, are you done making a scene? You got exposed by Hua Hua, and now you’re throwing a tantrum? The man you’re clinging to is the Chi chairman!”
Chi Qian: “If you’ve got the guts, call the cops to arrest me.”
“What’s going on here?”
Chi Lisen, passing by the private room, just happened to hear his silly granddaughter’s voice and stepped inside.
The classmates who had seen Chi Lisen before sneered. “Oh, look, the actor she hired is here again.”
“Seriously? She dares call this guy Chi Lisen? What a joke.”
“I’ve actually seen the Chi chairman before. He looks nothing like this!”
Gu Hua agreed—Grandpa didn’t look like this at all. There was no way Chi Lisen looked like this!
The club’s manager, who had come in with Chi Lisen, finally couldn’t bear to listen any longer.
“Open your eyes! This is Chairman Chi of the Chi Corporation! Didn’t your parents ever teach you to watch your words outside the house?”
Ling Qian’s face shifted slightly. “Manager Kong… is he really…”
They might not have had the chance to meet Chi Lisen, but they definitely recognized Manager Kong from this luxury club.
And Manager Kong would never help Chi Qian and her grandfather put on an act—for one simple reason.
This golden, glittering club was owned by the Chi Corporation.
There was no way Manager Kong could mistake his own boss!
“Grandpa, what are you doing here?” Chi Qian let go of the troublemaker, instantly dropping her fierce act, and scampered happily to her grandfather’s side.
Her golden thigh had arrived!
“I came to inspect the place,” Chi Lisen said, frowning when he noticed the red wine stains on her face. “Who poured that on you?”
Chi Qian thought for a moment. “I don’t remember. There were too many people, it was chaos.”
Maybe someone took a cheap shot in the crowd.
Chi Lisen nodded and ordered Manager Kong, “Write down every name of everyone present. Put them all on the blacklist. Call their parents to come collect them.”
“What for!” someone shouted in protest. “Just because you’re rich, you think you can throw your weight around and bully people?”
Chi Lisen lifted his eyelids lazily. “Because you’re on my turf, bullying my granddaughter. I won’t bother settling accounts with you. I’ll just settle them with your parents.”
“If you think you’re tough, you’re welcome to send your parents to me anytime.”
A wave of dread swept over the room. It was like they had just slammed into a steel wall.
Their parents had warned them before: if they caused trouble with Chi Qian again and hurt the family’s business, they’d be kicked out of the house and told to go beggars to be their new parents.
Why hadn’t they kept their hands to themselves?
“Hua Hua, what’s going on?” Ling Qian asked in a low voice, troubled. “Didn’t you say Chi Qian’s grandfather was just a butler?”
