Uber the Wolf Tamer

Chapter 8: Uber the Wolf Tamer

The He and Xu families were among the most prominent in Fuguang City. Not just in class, even in the entire school, they carried weight.

What He Fangzhi said was a clear attempt to rally everyone into isolating Chi Qian.

Unfortunately, the classmates weren’t buying it.

“Bullying a girl like this isn’t right!”

“Gu Hua’s not even here. Swearing loyalty won’t get you anywhere.”

He Fangzhi flushed red with anger, glaring at Chi Qian. “You’ve really got some nerve, Chi Qian!”

Chi Qian rolled her eyes. “Not as much as you. A whole person plus the box only weighs five and a half pounds.”

He Fangzhi: */=#%!!

When they reached the destination, He Fangzhi deliberately timed it so that as Chi Qian was getting off the bus, he crashed into her.

If she really fell, she’d likely end up with a broken leg in the hospital.

But Chi Qian noticed in time. She nimbly dodged and, in passing, kicked him squarely on the butt.

Well well, nice and round. Perfect for kicking.

With a loud “thud,” He Fangzhi landed flat on his face a meter away.

“Chi Qian, you—!” He looked up in fury, only for blood to gush from his nose, blocking his mouth. Pitiful and ridiculous all at once.

Hands in her pockets, Chi Qian sauntered over with a lazy smile. “Oh? Don’t tell me you’ve been so busy rolling around in bed with your sugar daddy that you’ve gone kidney-weak and can’t even stand steady?”

“You deserve it.”

He Fangzhi’s face went red and green in turns, his changing voice cracking like a duck’s squawk. “Say that again, you bitch!”

Chi Qian planted one foot on his back. “Shut up, mutt. You sound like a eunuch and you’re hurting my ears.”

With that, she simply stepped over him, not sparing a glance.

Xu Zhiqing rushed over to help He Fangzhi. “Are you okay? Has Chi Qian lost her mind?!”

In the past, Chi Qian had dared to ignore everyone because she was part of the Gu family.

Now that she’d lost her biggest backing, how did she still dare to go this far against the young master of the He family?

Xu Zhiqing: “We have to tell the teacher—this time she’s crossed the line!”

“No! We can’t alert the teachers now!” He Fangzhi growled through clenched teeth. “Today I have to destroy her, or I’ll change my surname to hers!”

That afternoon, during free time—

A group of overly “friendly” classmates pulled Chi Qian toward the depths of the forest, saying they were going on an adventure.

She glanced at the sky. “Looks like it’s going to rain soon. We shouldn’t go deeper, it feels dangerous.”

“Dangerous?” The girl who had been smiling sweetly at her instantly changed expression, face twisting with malice. “That’s exactly why we brought you here!”

“Haha, you didn’t really think we’d keep hanging around with a dirt-poor fake rich girl like you, did you? Look in the mirror and ask yourself if you even deserve it!”

“So disgusting. Just a counterfeit heiress—how did you even have the nerve to strut around all arrogant and high-and-mighty before? Now karma’s finally caught up!”

“Being seen with a pauper like you would only drag us down. So we’ll just have to make you disappear.”

Chi Qian remained calm and collected. “Oh, so that’s why you all acted so friendly in the car—just to lower my guard.”

She knew something was off. Normally, these people didn’t get along with her at all.

“Only figuring it out now? You really are stupid.”

He Fangzhi and Xu Zhiqing stepped forward, hands in their pockets, sneering. “This is the deepest part of the forest. There’s no way you can get back on your own. You’ll just have to stay here and feed the wild wolves.”

“But,” He Fangzhi added, curling his lip, “if you kneel right now and lick my shoes, beg me to spare you, maybe I’ll be merciful. What do you think?”

Chi Qian shot back, “If you kneel down right now and kowtow to your grandaunt a hundred times, your grandaunt still won’t let you off.”

As soon as she finished speaking, a flock of birds exploded out of the trees in fright.

A moment later, a massive, menacing black shadow emerged from the underbrush, eyes fixed directly on the group of students.

Everyone’s face changed instantly, their hair standing on end.

“A b-bear… It’s a bear!”

“Sh*t! Lie down and play dead—no, wait, run!”

“Don’t eat me! My meat’s rotten! My deskmate’s meat tastes better!”

“Rooaaar!”

The clearing erupted into chaos. The students scattered in every direction, fleeing for their lives.

He Fangzhi, who was closest to Chi Qian, gave her a hard shove. “Chi Qian, don’t blame me! If you want to blame someone, blame your worthless life!”

He pushed her toward the danger and immediately turned to run, not feeling the slightest bit guilty about using her life in exchange for his own.

Chi Qian didn’t deserve to live anyway!

But when he glanced back, expecting to see her torn apart, what he saw made his blood run cold.

The black bear didn’t even spare Chi Qian a glance. Instead, it bared its teeth and came charging straight at them!

F*ck!

How could this be happening?!

Chi Qian leaned against a tree, watching them scatter like headless chickens, grinning in delight. So stupid—if she didn’t have a trump card, would she really have followed them into the depths of the forest so easily?

Now the trap they set had sprung back on themselves.

She whistled. The brush rustled again, and this time, a gray-black wolf padded out.

A scar ran across its left eye, and it tilted its head as if to ask: Are you the one who called for an Uber Wolf ride?

Chi Qian eyed its rather scrawny frame and sighed. Times were tough—wolves had to work child labor now?

Still, since it came, it had to do the job. No running off.

She climbed onto the wolf’s back. After walking so long, her tired legs finally got a break. This was bliss.

There was no chance of making it back to camp at this pace, so before the rain came down harder, Chi Qian found a cave to rest in.

Before long, He Fangzhi and Xu Zhiqing arrived with the others.

“Chi Qian!” He Fangzhi ground his teeth in fury when he saw her. “You didn’t get torn apart by that bear? Your filthy life is tougher than I thought!”

“Chi Qian, we’re using this cave to shelter from the rain. You leave,” Xu Zhiqing ordered coldly.

They had numbers on their side, while Chi Qian was alone. There was no way she could stand against them.

After she had pushed He Fangzhi earlier, Xu Zhiqing had completely given up on her.

Chi Qian sat by the fire, chuckling at their arrogance. She turned to the wolf behind her. “They’re telling me to scram. I’m so scared. What do you think I should do?”

The students thought she was raving again—until the next moment.

A massive black wolf rose behind her, radiating raw power and savagery. Its eyes glowed with hunger, staring straight at them as though they were meat in a bowl.

Xu Zhiqing’s face went pale. “Run!”

He bolted, dragging the others with him. They stumbled out of the cave into the rain, retreating farther and farther away.

“There’s another cave over here!” someone pointed.

“But it’s too close to Chi Qian’s. What if she sends that wolf after us…”

He Fangzhi snapped, “She wouldn’t dare! With so many witnesses, if she did, that would be murder. Our parents would never let her get away with it! Get inside!”

The group of drowned rats scrambled into the cramped cave. Unlike Chi Qian’s, this one was small, wet, and couldn’t fit a fire.

Compared to Chi Qian, who was sitting warm and dry by a crackling blaze, they looked like refugees.

“This is all Chi Qian’s fault! If she hadn’t driven us out, we wouldn’t be like this!” someone complained.

“She went too far. We’re classmates—how could she be so cold-blooded?”

“But… how did she even tame that wolf? I’ve never heard of her having that kind of ability.”

“Forget it. Once we’re out of here, someone like her—a penniless nobody—we can crush her whenever we want!”

Their resentment boiled over in the rain, louder and louder.

From across the downpour, Chi Qian’s voice carried over lazily: “You think I’m deaf? Whoever keeps running their mouth can come deliver themselves as dinner for my wolf.”

After all, she still hadn’t paid the Uber Wolf fee.

The working-class wolf threw back its head and howled into the sky.

In an instant, silence fell over the other cave.

You should get treatment.” The sweet ingénue actress cooed: “I’ve never been in a relationship before~” Chi Qian: “You can’t hide it when you like someone. Even if you hide in a closet, his wife will still find you.” The real daughter, the female lead, sighed: “I envy how straightforward Chi Qian is. I’m always too polite.” Chi Qian: “You’re insane. Someone farts and you catch it with your mouth. You can hold more than a trash bag.” Unexpectedly, the more Chi Qian went off the rails, the more fans she gained!
