Doomsday: Scavenging in a Survival Game – CH40

Firearms, Take Action

Chapter 40: Firearms, Take Action

An Ruoru was startled by Ma Feng’s sudden shout and responded with mild irritation, “Why are you making such a fuss?”

However, when she looked at Ma Feng, she noticed something odd about his expression.

Ma Feng’s face was flushed, his eyes dazed, as if he had fallen into some kind of abnormal state.

“Whoa, Brother Gu, is Ma Feng mutating? Don’t tell me he just got scratched by a zombie?” An Ruoru asked nervously, beginning to check Ma Feng’s body for wounds.

Gu Cheng’an was just about to speak.

Suddenly, Ma Feng, startled by An Ruoru’s probing hands, jumped up as if he’d been electrocuted and shouted, “What are you doing?”

An Ruoru stared at him in surprise and said, “I was checking if you were about to mutate from a wound!”

Ma Feng widened his eyes and protested angrily, “You’re the one mutating! I’m fine! My ability makes bullets useless against me, let alone a zombie scratch!”

Before he could finish, Ma Feng’s body suddenly changed.

His entire form turned jet black and gleaming, as if he had become a man of iron.

As it turned out, Ma Feng had awakened a talent called Iron Wall, which allowed him to rapidly transform his flesh into a steel-like body with incredible defensive power.

Ordinary firearms couldn’t harm him at all.

Proudly showing off his ability, Ma Feng said smugly, “See? Zombies can’t break my defense at all. How could I possibly get hurt?”

Still, An Ruoru asked with a frown, “Then why were you acting like you were mutating—grinning stupidly and trembling all over?”

Ma Feng looked confused. “Huh? Was I?”

An Ruoru and Gu Cheng’an exchanged glances.

Ma Feng: What on earth just happened?

“You really don’t remember what just happened?” Ma Feng seemed to have lost all memory of it, as if he’d blacked out.

Gu Cheng’an saw no sign of lying in his expression, which was quite puzzling.

Ma Feng said, “I was just using binoculars to observe that group of people, and then… well, you know the rest.”

After hearing Ma Feng’s explanation, everyone realized something was wrong with that group.

Gu Cheng’an said, “There’s definitely a powerful talent user among them—someone with psychic abilities. We need to stay alert and observe. We’re not even sure if there are supplies in this base yet. Let’s check it out first.”

“Yes!”

Su Ning followed Li Lian and the others into the underground bunker of the base.

What greeted them were barricades built from shipping containers.

Su Ning walked up to one of the containers. The writing on it was unfamiliar, but thanks to the system, its meaning automatically appeared in his mind: “Military Supplies! Danger!”

Su Ning was stunned, filled with disbelief.

These containers were filled with weapons and ammunition!

“Boss, we’ve struck gold! This place is full of military arms!” Zhang Huaiyuan shouted in excitement.

Li Lian was so thrilled he dropped his machine gun without a second thought.

Looking at the labels on the containers—grenades, sniper rifles, heavy artillery—and most eye-catching of all: a Gatling gun!

Li Lian stared at the Gatling gun in front of him, his eyes flashing with greed.

His talent, Bullet Storm, allowed him to automatically replenish ammunition, making him capable of firing infinitely. The more powerful his weapon, the more terrifying his ability became!

Of course, the underground warehouse held more than just weapons.

In addition to the firearms, there were stacks of food and other supplies.

Su Ning gazed at the mountains of canned goods and couldn’t help but think, If this base hadn’t fallen, these supplies could’ve supported the survivors for a long time.

Meanwhile, the others were buzzing with excitement around the weapons cache, their faces lit with joy, as if they were seeing infinite hope and a bright future.

But at that moment, Su Ning quietly released the Emerald Bees, unnoticed by the others.

Among them were several that had already turned into zombie hornets.

Zhang Huaiyuan was completely lost in the thrill of acquiring so many weapons and supplies, utterly oblivious to anything unusual. He even forgot to use his perception ability to scan the area, failing to notice Su Ning’s subtle actions.

“Brother Li, once you complete the mission of killing 100,000 zombies and unlock the planting space, we can easily take all these supplies with us. With this arsenal, we can return and dominate a region, building a glorious empire of our own!” Zhang Huaiyuan said, filled with anticipation.

Li Lian’s lips curled into a faint, almost imperceptible smile.

He seemed to agree with Zhang Huaiyuan’s vision, yet his expression hinted at something more.

“With this firepower, I could take over a whole shelter on my own.”

Flatterer #1: “Boss, you’re so mighty!”

Flatterer #2: “Boss, you’re a legend!”

Then they continued searching for more supplies.

“There’s so much alcohol and medical equipment!” Flatterer #3 shouted.

Not only did they find medical supplies, but also gold, silver, and treasures clearly collected by the former base residents.

Su Ning watched their frenzy in silence, a hint of cold mockery in her eyes.

Just as Li Lian and Zhang Huaiyuan were immersed in their euphoria, a faint buzzing sound started to emerge.

At first it was subtle and easy to ignore, but it grew louder and more unsettling.

“What’s that sound?” Zhang Huaiyuan suddenly noticed something was off. He frowned and looked around for the source.

But before he could react, sharp pain surged from his neck.

“Ahh!”

Zhang Huaiyuan cried out, followed by screams of pain from Li Lian and the rest of the team.

Their faces were full of shock and fear—they had no idea what had just attacked them.

“What’s going on?” They looked at each other in panic and confusion.

They tried to move but found their bodies suddenly paralyzed, unresponsive, as if bound by an invisible force.

Seeing that her ambush had worked, Su Ning nodded in satisfaction.

The paralysis poison and zombie venom had successfully entered their systems, completely immobilizing them.

And now, her facade could finally end—no more need to play the weak little girl.

Without hesitation, Su Ning removed her title “White Flower”. As the title disappeared, so did its effect of lowering men’s IQ around her.

Li Lian and Zhang Huaiyuan’s minds instantly cleared, realizing how foolish they’d been.

They turned to look at Su Ning, who had been calmly watching the scene unfold.

“It was you! What did you do?!”

Su Ning still wore her delicate smile, but her words were anything but gentle, “Nothing much—just made sure to send you off before you could try anything on me.”
