Chapter 159: Dr. Chenxi
Su Tao was not only pleased to hear this but also intrigued.
“Do you think Taoyang is lacking in technology?” she asked.
Gan Hongyu seemed a bit nervous and waved his hands. “Boss Su, I’m not saying Taoyang has shortcomings. I just think that using modern technology could make life easier for the tenants and staff.”
Su Tao replied, “I don’t mean anything negative by asking. I just want to learn with an open mind. Can you tell me in what ways you think technology could improve Taoyang?”
Hearing this, Gan Hongyu realized he had been overly cautious. Boss Su wasn’t petty at all.
So, he started explaining enthusiastically.
“I discussed this with Old Feng before. We believe Taoyang should have its own website system. Manager Zhuang could post available housing and job openings, Manager Qian could update meal options and the plantation’s progress, and Director Qi could provide real-time safety updates and alerts.”
“Our photographer Fan could also share small news updates about Taoyang, which would help with publicity.”
“Our tenants would be able to access internal information in real time, while external visitors could view certain content with some restrictions.”
“We even thought about an internal OA system, like the ones before the apocalypse, to manage employees. That way, you could monitor each department’s work performance, and finance could handle salary calculations more easily.”
“We could also set up a fully secure local network for Taoyang…”
Su Tao and Zhuang Wan were both stunned.
This was an area they had never even considered before.
Gan Hongyu talked passionately for over ten minutes, becoming more and more excited as he spoke.
“Boss Su, just give us some time! We can make Taoyang fully digitalized and efficiently managed.”
Su Tao smiled, revealing a row of white teeth.
“How about this? I’ll set up two offices for you in Taoli Building. You can work there after your regular jobs or on weekends. Consider it a part-time role or an external consultant position. You probably won’t want extra pay, so how about a rent discount instead?”
She didn’t outright try to recruit them full-time because she knew they likely held important positions in Dongyang’s Network Information Security Department.
If she poached them outright, it might cause trouble if there was no one to replace them.
If they had been from the Old Station, she wouldn’t have hesitated to recruit them.
But Dongyang was an ally—Taoyang’s trusted partner.
Gan Hongyu hadn’t expected her to be so sincere. He immediately felt that all his and his friend’s enthusiasm had been recognized and supported.
Deeply moved, he responded…
“Alright, I’ll accept this on behalf of Feng An. Thank you! Whether it’s a part-time role or an external hire, since we’ve received Boss Su’s kindness, we’ll make sure to do our job properly.”
The group happily chatted for a while longer when suddenly, Chen Xi came running in excitedly. Seeing people in the office, she immediately stopped, politely greeted Gan Hongyu, and then, unable to contain her excitement, asked:
“Mom, Sister Tao, is our clinic building newly constructed? It looks much bigger from the outside, and the exterior is way nicer now. It matches our apartment building so well… Can I go in and take a look? The door is locked.”
Su Tao almost forgot—she had locked the door to prevent curious tenants from wandering into the new clinic before it was officially open. She hadn’t gotten around to telling Chen Xi yet.
Hearing this, Gan Hongyu immediately said, “Boss Su, I can make electronic access cards for different buildings so people can just scan their communicators to enter. It’s really simple—I can have it ready for you tonight.”
Su Tao admired his efficiency. “Great, thanks for the hard work.”
Then, she took Chen Xi to the clinic building.
The moment Chen Xi stepped inside, she excitedly ran around the inner rooms, then turned to Su Tao and said,
“Sister Tao, it’s really much bigger inside! When Uncle Zhong comes next week, he’ll definitely be envious. He told me that in the Eastern District, there isn’t even a decent consultation room—patients just go to his house for treatment. And he said Boss Gu is so stingy that he refuses to install air conditioning anywhere. His happiest moment each month is coming to Taoyang to enjoy the AC.”
Su Tao squinted with laughter. “Sounds like your Uncle Zhong complains about his boss quite a bit in private. Let him be jealous, then.”
Chen Xi giggled, then pushed open the office area door. As she walked past the entryway, she saw two semi-enclosed desks and turned to Su Tao with an eager, expectant look.
Su Tao patted her shoulder. “This is for you. Pick a spot you like. Once you finish your training…”
She knocked on the door of an independent office meant for Zhong Gaoyi.
“I’ve prepared a private office for you too. What do you think, Dr. Chen Xi?”
Chen Xi stood still, her whole body buzzing with excitement. A feeling called “dreams” surged through her, flowing through every part of her being, growing stronger and more unstoppable.
Seeing her daughter trembling with excitement, Zhuang Wan whispered to Su Tao,
“That’s enough. If you keep going, she’ll probably want to start treating patients right this second.”
Su Tao chuckled, then told Chen Xi, “Make sure to learn well from Dr. Zhong. If you need anything—books, medical equipment, supplies—just let me know. If I can get it, I’ll find a way to make it happen.”
Chen Xi was deeply moved. “Sister Tao, you’re amazing. Uncle Zhong says you have a big heart—you carry the whole world in it.”
Su Tao laughed. “And you believe everything your Uncle Zhong says?”
Zhuang Wan, sounding a bit jealous, added, “Of course she does. One word from him is worth ten from me.”
Chen Xi disagreed, “But whenever you say something, Uncle Zhong always listens. He likes drinking ice-cold soda at night, but after you told him not to drink cold things late at night, he secretly told me that he often wakes up thirsty and opens the fridge, but then remembers your words and doesn’t dare to take one. If he does drink one, he even hides the empty bottle afterward.”
Zhuang Wan was speechless.
“I was just casually saying that! Regular people shouldn’t drink cold things late at night because it’s bad for their digestion. But later, I realized that with his abilities, it probably doesn’t matter, so I never brought it up again. And yet, he actually took it that seriously?”
Chen Xi pouted in defense of her Uncle Zhong. “Mom, he cares so much about what you say, and you were just casually saying it?”
The usually slow-to-catch-on Su Tao suddenly picked up on something unusual. Looking at the mother and daughter, she recalled something Shi Zijin had once mentioned and finally understood.
Oh? If this works out, then Dr. Zhong would definitely end up settling in Taoyang!
And Gu Mingchi wouldn’t be able to keep them apart!
She gave Zhuang Wan a thumbs-up in encouragement.
Zhuang Wan looked confused at first, then realized Su Tao was cheering her on—to work harder and rent out the empty rooms as soon as possible!
Alright, time to get to work.
so perceptive when it comes to others rs but so dense to her growing harem 😭
