Chapter 147: Tom’s Handsome Trick
“Oh, oh, oh, that’s just fantastic!”
Tom exaggerated his reaction, playing up the over-the-top expressions of a foreigner in awe.
“Sir, you seem quite excited?” Han Xue giggled.
“You guys have a saying here, don’t you?” Tom responded mysteriously.
“Oh?”
“What saying?” Han Xue looked at Tom curiously.
“I am Cao Thief!”
Tom waggled his eyebrows and grinned mischievously, proudly showing off the phrase he had painstakingly learned.
Hearing this, Han Xue froze.
For a moment, she couldn’t quite process what Tom was saying.
“Huh? That’s not the reaction I expected!”
“If she doesn’t respond, what am I supposed to do?”
Tom was stumped.
In his mind, a woman like Han Xue should be well-versed in jokes like this.
How did his simple “common saying” end up making her completely freeze?
Han Xue and Tom locked eyes in a moment of mutual confusion—Han Xue was trying to process his words, while Tom was at a complete loss.
“Hahaha…”
“Didn’t expect you to know about Cao Thief.”
After a few seconds, Han Xue finally giggled, covering her mouth.
Tom let out a sigh of relief.
“Phew…”
“Hehe~ Of course! I’m a walking encyclopedia!”
Tom smirked and winked.
“Impressive!”
Han Xue didn’t hold back her praise.
“Then, handsome Mr. Encyclopedia, did you stop me in the middle of the street just to discuss the depth and beauty of the Chinese language?”
Han Xue batted her eyelashes playfully, putting on a shy expression.
Her sultry gaze was practically dripping with honey, making Tom momentarily dazed.
Inside, he repeated to himself: Amitabha…
“Oh my god, this woman is dangerous.”
Tom concluded with absolute certainty.
“Of course not.”
Tom shook his head and gazed at Han Xue with a deep, meaningful look. Then, he leaned in slightly and said in a low, deliberate voice:
“If I could have the honor of having dinner with you, my journey to this sacred land would not have been in vain.”
After speaking, Tom put on an expectant expression.
Han Xue tilted her head and smiled without responding, her eyes shimmering with an irresistible allure.
“Would the beautiful lady be willing to grant my humble request?”
Tom took a step closer, gently wrapping his arm around Han Xue’s slender waist. Leaning down, he whispered the words into her ear.
Their intimate posture quickly drew attention from pedestrians.
The sight of a charming foreigner and an elegant, beautiful woman standing so close in broad daylight was enough to fuel a hundred gossip-filled conversations.
Faced with Tom’s flirtatious move, even the usually composed Han Xue blushed.
She bit her lip, hesitated for a second, then lightly nodded.
Seeing this, the corners of Tom’s lips lifted smugly, forming an unstoppable grin.
From the crowd, excited gasps echoed:
“He’s so handsome!”
Hearing the compliments, Tom felt even more triumphant. With his arm still around Han Xue’s waist, he led her toward an upscale western restaurant nearby.
Han Xue glanced at the luxurious storefront, blinked, then leaned even closer into Tom’s embrace.
“Beautiful lady, do you like western food?”
Standing at the entrance, Tom asked in a gentlemanly tone.
“Mmm~”
Han Xue nodded softly.
If Axi knew that Han Xue had used her “recon mission” as an excuse to pick up rich foreigners on the street, he’d probably shoot her on the spot.
After entering the restaurant and sitting down, Tom smiled and said,
“Madam, please go ahead and order. I need to use the restroom for a moment.”
“Hmm?”
“What would you like to eat? Should I order for you?”
Han Xue looked at Tom in surprise.
“I’ll just eat you!”
Tom waggled his eyebrows and smirked.
“You’re terrible~”
“That’s not something a gentleman should say.”
Han Xue feigned annoyance.
“Haha, just a joke!”
“I’ll have whatever you’re having.”
Tom chuckled, then walked toward the restroom.
Once inside, he took out his phone and sent a WeChat message to Fang Xiaocao.
[Tom: Your Highness, mission accomplished. I’ve successfully distracted Han Xue.]
507 Hotel Room
Fang Xiaocao, who had been monitoring Song Lin’s team on the security footage, blinked in surprise at Tom’s message. She split her screen and typed back:
“Nicely done. Good work.”
[Tom: It’s my honor to serve you, Princess.]
Curious, Fang Xiaocao asked, “What trick did you use to stall her?”
[Tom: My handsome face.]
Fang Xiaocao was momentarily stunned.
After a short hesitation, she typed:
“Be careful. That woman has some… issues. Don’t catch anything from her.”
Inside the restaurant restroom, Tom broke into a cold sweat.
“Oh, my God!”
“Thank goodness I didn’t kiss her!”
His heart pounded wildly.
Even when he was killing people, it never beat this fast.
Taking a deep breath to calm himself, he straightened his expression, washed his hands, and stepped back out.
“Beautiful lady, sorry to keep you waiting.”
Tom smiled as he returned to his seat.
“Not at all.”
Han Xue flashed him a seductive smile.
507 Hotel Room
Fang Xiaocao turned back to the surveillance feed.
Watching Song Lin and his team move into position on either side of Room 512, a sly smile crept onto her lips.
“This time, let’s see if you can escape death.”
She murmured to herself.
“Captain Song, I’ve helped you a lot with this operation. Don’t let me down.”
Her eyes sparkled with anticipation as she focused on the screen.
5th Floor, Hotel Hallway
Song Lin signaled to Luo Fei and the others, directing them to take positions on either side of Room 512’s door. Taking a deep breath, he grasped the universal keycard in one hand while keeping his gun steady in the other.
Sweat trickled down his temple.
No one is truly unafraid of death.
Even though Song Lin was mentally prepared for sacrifice, his body’s natural tension was something he couldn’t suppress.
