Chapter 101: The Rooftop View Is Quite Nice
“I’m going to tell my dad…” Shen Yiren was furious.
Xu Youyou laughed. “Go ahead, tell him. Not just your dad—you can call the police too.”
There were no surveillance cameras in the corridor, and considering the Shen family’s concern for their reputation, Shen Yiren would never lower herself to report it to the police. This meant she had just taken a beating for nothing.
After receiving three slaps in a row, Shen Yiren wasn’t sure whether Lu Jingyao would back Xu Youyou up, but seeing those four six-foot-tall bodyguards made her hesitant.
She didn’t dare keep arguing and instead took two steps back cautiously. “Xu Youyou, this is a family matter between me and Song Zhibai. It has nothing to do with you.”
Xu Youyou sneered. “You’re bullying my artist—of course I have to take care of you!”
Shen Yiren glanced between Xu Youyou and Song Zhibai. “You’re Song Zhibai’s boss?”
Song Zhibai’s face darkened. “My last name is Song. I am not part of your Shen family.”
Shen Yiren raised her eyebrows. “So you’re mixed up with Xu Youyou? No wonder you’re so cocky! Aren’t you afraid Lu Jingyao will deal with you?”
Song Zhibai hated hearing Lu Jingyao’s name.
Xu Youyou took a swift step forward and slapped Shen Yiren again.
Shen Laotai, who had been standing in front of Shen Yiren, was so terrified that she stumbled backward, afraid Xu Youyou might decide to slap her as well.
Shen Yiren’s face burned with pain. She couldn’t understand how someone as slim as Xu Youyou could hit so hard—it hurt like hell.
She no longer dared to speak to Xu Youyou and instead turned to Song Zhibai. “I’m telling you, Dad won’t let you enter the entertainment industry!”
Song Zhibai’s face was dark. “I’m an adult. He has no control over me.”
Xu Youyou felt she was quite patient—waiting for their conversation to end before stepping forward to slap Shen Yiren again.
Shen Yiren’s face was already numb from the blows. She really wanted to run, but Xu Youyou’s bodyguards stood like a human wall, blocking all her escape routes.
Xu Youyou turned to Song’s mother. “Auntie, why didn’t you call security when they barged in and caused trouble?”
Song’s mother sighed helplessly. “The property management belongs to the Shen family.”
A portion of the Shen family’s business involved property management, and nearly a third of the residential complexes in Hucheng used their services.
No one expected this coincidence—that the randomly rented apartment would be tied to the Shen family.
Xu Youyou had rented the place without knowing Song Zhibai’s connection to them. “Sorry, that was my oversight.”
Song’s mother quickly shook her head. “It was a setup we didn’t anticipate. This isn’t your fault, dear. You’ve helped us vent our frustrations—I should be thanking you.”
Xu Youyou nodded and instructed Xu Fang, “Find them another place to live.”
Remembering that there were two young children who needed to attend school, she added, “Make sure it has four master bedrooms, is close to me, and has good schools nearby. The property management shouldn’t be from the Shen family, and security must be top-notch.”
She didn’t feel safe letting Song’s family or the kids live too far away. If they were nearby, she could immediately step in when needed.
Shen Tai was still being restrained by the bodyguards when she sneered, “Finding them a new place to live? And you still say you’re not being kept by your boss?”
Xu Youyou smiled at her, then, in a flash, slapped Shen Yiren twice. “A mother makes the mistake, and the daughter gets punished. Shen Yiren, your mom doesn’t seem to care about you.”
Shen Tai trembled with anger but was completely restrained by the bodyguards, unable to retaliate.
Xu Youyou turned to Song’s mother and son. “You two pack up first. Let me know when you’re ready to move.”
With a subtle glance from Xu Youyou, the four bodyguards immediately sprang into action, grabbing the three Shen women and hauling them upstairs to the rooftop via the stairwell.
“What are you doing?!” Shen Laotai shouted.
Shen Yiren screamed, “Don’t touch me! Xu Youyou, you’re breaking the law! I’ll call the police! I’ll call the police!”
The Shen women were quickly gagged, and the bodyguards took them straight to the rooftop.
Xu Youyou dragged Shen Yiren to the edge.
“What are you doing?!” Shen Yiren felt the cold wind whipping against her scalp, her voice shaking.
Xu Youyou’s lips curled into a wicked smile, and she deliberately pushed Shen Yiren forward a little.
Shen Yiren screamed in terror.
The bodyguards, though previously briefed that it was only meant to scare her, nearly believed Xu Youyou was actually going to kill someone.
This trick was inspired by Xie Ran. Against truly despicable people like Shen Yiren, ordinary tactics wouldn’t work. Only by making her truly afraid would she stop harassing Song’s mother and son.
Shen Yiren had only met Xu Youyou twice, but at this moment, she was convinced Xu Youyou was a real psychopath.

Shen Yiren’s voice trembled. “Xu Youyou, murder is a crime… Let’s talk… I’ll agree to anything…”
Xu Youyou’s smile was eerie. “Shen Yiren, murder is only a crime if you get caught. Why be afraid? Thanks to your family’s property management company…”
Shen Yiren was confused.
Xu Youyou continued, “They’re so lazy they didn’t even install surveillance cameras on the rooftop. If you fall, people will just assume you slipped.”
“You three didn’t sign in at the complex’s entrance, did you?”
Shen Yiren hadn’t expected that the backdoor privileges granted by her family’s property company would turn into a death sentence for her. As her head was forced over the rooftop’s edge, she trembled violently.
“I… we won’t bother Shen—Song Zhibai again… Xu Youyou… I was wrong…”
Xu Youyou deliberately rocked her slightly. Shen Yiren was so scared she was crying and sniffling uncontrollably.
“So, you do know fear?” Xu Youyou asked.
Shen Yiren pleaded, “I’m scared, I really won’t dare anymore, I want to live…”
Xu Youyou’s voice turned cold. “Then why didn’t you care if others were scared when you bullied people and locked them in freezers?”
Shen Yiren stared at her in shock, unsure how Xu Youyou knew about that.
Xu Youyou’s expression darkened. She had thought her past life’s suffering was an isolated case, but it turned out Shen Yiren had done this multiple times—locking people in freezers was routine for her.
“I’ll never bully anyone again… I swear!” Shen Yiren vowed desperately.
Xu Youyou dragged her back from the edge and carelessly tossed her behind. “I thought you were tough. Turns out, you’re just a coward.”
Shen Yiren had narrowly escaped death. She ignored the pain from landing on the ground and scrambled toward the center of the rooftop, seeking safety.
“See the Huangpu River over there?” Xu Youyou suddenly asked.
Shen Yiren, still panting, was stunned.
Xu Youyou flashed a chilling grin. “It’s daytime now, so throwing you off would be a bit messy, with all the blood and gore. But on a dark, windy night… if I quietly toss you into the river…”
Shen Yiren shuddered violently.
