Road Survival: My Hearse Comes with Purification – CH114

Are Kings, Nobles, and Generals Destined by Birth?

Chapter 114: Are Kings, Nobles, and Generals Destined by Birth?

The players inside the remaining five enemy vehicles felt a violent chill run down their spines.

“Boss… the Boss was taken out in a single move…”

“Don’t panic! She’s only one person! Surround her!”

A Level 4 off-road vehicle tried to flank her from the right, the heavy machine gun mounted on its roof spitting fire. Lin Huai didn’t even bother to look. She half-crouched, gently patted the cold lid of her jade coffin, and commanded, “Yellow Springs Road Guide, focus fire on player Wallflower!”

Boom!

A dense barrage of firepower and a golden blast of immense energy struck the off-road vehicle simultaneously. The driver’s terrified scream was abruptly cut short.

Another Level 3 vehicle attempted a sneak attack from the left, but the giant emerald coffin swept it aside with a loud crash, swatting it away like an annoying fly. The car tumbled into the rocky cliff by the roadside and exploded into a massive fireball.

The armored hearse sat silently on the snowfield. The heavy jade coffin hovered above its roof, radiating an aura like a totem of death.

Lin Huai stood atop the coffin, her long scythe pointed diagonally at the frozen ground. Drops of crimson blood rolled down the curved blade, staining the snow below with dazzling spots of red.

She looked up at the remaining three vehicles, which were already backing away in sheer terror. Her gaze was as cold as ice.

“Thinking of leaving now?” she asked softly, a cruel smile curving her lips. “…Isn’t it a little too late?”

As she spoke, the golden light cannon on the hearse’s front bumper gathered dazzling energy once more. Several brilliant spheres of golden light whistled through the air, accurately striking the three fleeing vehicles.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Deafening explosions echoed one after another. The vehicles disintegrated in towering flames. Burning metal fragments and melted snow sprayed everywhere, staining the pure white road with dark scorch marks and spilled blood.

The acrid smell of gunpowder filled the air, mingling with a heavy, metallic stench that lingered in the freezing wind.

Beneath the surface of the nearby unfrozen river, dark currents began to surge. Bloated, pale zombies dragged themselves onto the muddy banks. Countless twisted, translucent shadows rose from the depths of the water, letting out piercing wails as they greedily sniffed the scent of fresh flesh and blood in the air.

Lin Huai calmly stepped down and walked over the battlefield, methodically looting the dropped supplies and collecting the corpses. Although the enemy vehicles were heavily damaged beyond repair, they could still be sold as scrap metal, so she stored them in her inventory as well.

Finally, she walked over to Qing Qi. He wasn’t dead yet; he had only broken several bones when he was thrown through his windshield, leaving him completely paralyzed in the snow.

Watching Lin Huai approach like a grim reaper coming to harvest his soul, he gasped for air and pleaded, “Heroine… Boss… please spare my life!”

“I don’t know how I offended you, Boss. Why would you cross into our zone just to kill me?”

Lin Huai crouched down, resting the curved blade of her long scythe gently against the man’s neck. A thin line of blood instantly trickled down his skin.

She pressed her fingertip against the back of the blade. With just a little more force, a few more inches, she could effortlessly sever his head from his body.

Her voice was terrifyingly cold. “You’re quite clever, guessing that I came here specifically for you.”

Then, her tone sharpened with sudden, intense anger. “Now guess again—who exactly did I come to avenge?!”

“Guess correctly, and I’ll give you a quick death!”

The man’s eyes widened in sheer terror. He desperately wanted to shake his head, but the sharp steel against his throat prevented him from moving an inch. Staring into the furious killing intent in Lin Huai’s eyes, another pair of eyes suddenly flashed in his memory—eyes that were just as angry, and just as stubborn.

He trembled violently as he forced his mouth open. “You… you’re avenging that police officer?”

Lin Huai smiled coldly. “It seems you remember exactly what you did. Do you have any last words?”

Unable to move, the man blinked his eyes frantically, tears spilling out as he cried, “Boss! Boss, I know I was wrong! I’ll go to his grave and kowtow in apology! I’ll turn myself in, okay? Please, Boss, don’t kill me. Spare my life, just this once! I’ll turn over a new leaf, I promise…”

Lin Huai stood up, her expression completely indifferent. “I came here only to let you know why you are dying. I am not here to forgive you.”

“If you want to confess your sins, do it in hell. I am not responsible for your judgment; I am only responsible for sending you there to face it.”

As she spoke, she gripped the handle of her long scythe. With a smooth, effortless motion—like flicking a snowflake from her shoulder—she pulled the weapon back, its sharp tip hooking perfectly across the man’s neck.

Meeting almost no resistance, his head separated from his torso. It rolled across the snow with a wet gurgle, eventually tumbling into the dark river by the roadside.

Beneath the icy water, dark shadows quickly swarmed. Following a rapid, muffled tearing sound, a few clusters of bubbles floated to the surface. Then, everything returned to dead silence, leaving only a murky cloud of blood spreading slowly in the current.

Out of sheer disgust, Lin Huai kicked the rest of his torso into the river to feed the shadow worms.

For a beast like him, collecting his corpse would only dirty her coffin. He didn’t deserve a proper cremation; his true destiny was to be torn apart and fed to monsters.

After sweeping the battlefield, Lin Huai checked the time. Only an hour had passed; they still had another hour left on the clock.

She turned back to her hearse, preparing to rendezvous with the young heiress and Peace and Violence. Suddenly, an electronic voice exploded in her ear.

The shrill, mechanical female voice was so loud it nearly ruptured her eardrums. She instinctively covered her ears.

“Ahhh! Oh my goodness! Where is my rank one?! Where is my rank two?! Where are my rank three and rank four?!”

“I just stepped away for a second to argue with Old Hei, and when I came back, my entire top leaderboard was wiped out?!”

“Bone Ashes Mixed with Rice, what have you done?!”

“Are you out of your mind?! You ran into my zone and slaughtered my top players?! Do you realize I have the administrative authority to lock you in here?!”

Listening to the furious shrieking of the Sphinx, Lin Huai suddenly felt that Old Hei’s exasperated cursing was actually quite gentle by comparison.

“It’s fine, don’t worry,” Lin Huai replied calmly. “There will always be a rank one. When the old one falls, a new one will simply take his place.”

“Now then… if there’s nothing else, I’ll be taking my leave.”

Ignoring whether the Sphinx agreed or not, Lin Huai immediately messaged Peace and Violence and the young heiress, pulling out her Zone Transfer Card to return home.

But after she had so brazenly invaded another district to kill its top players, the local system assistant naturally wasn’t going to let her leave so easily.

Even after a full minute, the Zone Transfer Card failed to activate. It seemed that if she didn’t offer a satisfactory explanation today, she truly wouldn’t be able to escape.

“I am the one who killed them,” Lin Huai stated. “Even if you detain me, surely you can let my teammates leave, right?”

The Sphinx seethed with anger. “None of you three are going anywhere!”

Without missing a beat, Lin Huai opened her system interface. Using the broadcasting function from Peace and Violence’s information vehicle, she tagged every single player in the Zone 275 public lobby.

[Bone Ashes Mixed with Rice]: Listen up, everyone! The Qing Qi syndicate that has been oppressing you is completely dead. From this moment on, the bright future of this district is in your hands!

[Bone Ashes Mixed with Rice]: Are kings, nobles, and generals destined by birth? Absolutely not! Charge forward! The number one spot on your leaderboard is waiting to be rewritten!
