Chapter 256: Dracula Factory 4
The blind date finally ended after Chu Yian watched two episodes of a TV series.
Many people in the Cafeteria had formed couples; they came alone and left in pairs. Chu Yian and the remaining people followed the Administrator and were led to their dormitories.
It was a four-person room.
After washing up and getting into bed, a piercing ringtone sounded at ten o’clock, and then the dormitory doors were uniformly locked from the inside.
Chu Yian gripped the doorknob and tried it; it couldn’t be opened from the inside at all. Moreover, there was no keyhole on the door, clearly indicating that the designer never intended for them to open the door and leave on their own.
“Don’t waste your energy. The Administrator will open the door for us tomorrow morning.”
A worker who had been here for a long time said indifferently, then flopped onto his bed.
“That’s true, but it’s too unsafe. If there’s a fire or an emergency, we won’t even have a chance to escape.”
Chu Yian felt her question was reasonable, but her roommate across from her showed a look of disdain.
“How can this kind of unfounded danger compare to the dangers outside?”
“What dangers are outside?”
Chu Yian feigned indifference, hearing the crucial part, “We’re already inside the factory; what danger could there be?”
However, she didn’t get any information from him.
She only heard him snort, “You’re thinking too simply. If there were no danger, the factory wouldn’t warn everyone on the first day not to go out between 10 PM and 6 AM.”
The worker said it was dangerous after 10 PM.
Bai Sinian, however, said there was only a chance to escape after 11 PM.
Chu Yian didn’t know who to believe anymore.
But now that all the dormitory doors were closed, it was impossible for her to go out. She studied the door without a keyhole for a long time before finally climbing into bed.
Lying in bed, Chu Yian, unable to sleep, kept her eyes open, pondering things.
Could Bai Sinian really escape tonight?
His game item was actually very useful, allowing him to easily discover things other players would find difficult to locate.
Chu Yian yawned in thought.
The dormitory had become completely silent, especially with the sound of her roommate snoring from the upper bunk. Just as Chu Yian was about to fall asleep, she suddenly heard a faint click.
It came from the door.
Chu Yian sat up, noticed the other three hadn’t reacted, and slowly approached the door.
Sure enough, the door was open.
She only needed to pull it gently, and the door opened a crack. A beam of light shone into the room from outside. Chu Yian considered it for a moment, then slipped out of the room.
Of course, she wasn’t going to find Bai Sinian to team up, but she had to figure out the situation in the factory at night.
Once out of the room, she felt the lock cylinder of the door behind her.
To prevent the door from closing after she left, she folded a piece of toilet paper and placed it on the lock cylinder, then slowly closed the door. After doing all this, she walked down the corridor.
This was the dormitory area.
All the rooms along the way were identical.
The numbers on them were the only way to distinguish them.
Chu Yian still walked north, looking for Workshop 466.
She wanted to see if Bai Sinian had actually gone there, and if he could truly escape using his identity. However, before she reached Workshop 466, she heard a rapid sound of footsteps coming from the stairwell, moving upwards.
“Someone escaped from their room? How are you people doing your job?”
“Have you caught them? How many are still at large if you haven’t? Turn on all the surveillance cameras in the factory; we must find everyone who escaped. Otherwise, the boss won’t let us off for dereliction of duty!”
Chu Yian, hiding around the corner downstairs, heard this news.
She glanced at the camera above her head and suddenly remembered that there were eyes everywhere in the factory. Thinking of this, she quietly left the production area and returned towards the dormitory.
All along the way.
The outside looked the same as during the day.
Pale lights, pure white walls, and corridors that stretched endlessly in front and behind. The only difference was probably that there wasn wasn’t a single person in the corridor, and it was eerily quiet.
Wait, she hadn’t seen any windows all day today, had she?
Chu Yian suddenly noticed this important detail. A huge factory with not a single window—wasn’t that too strange?
As she was pondering, a strange sound came from ahead.
Click-clack—
Clack—
Chu Yian’s steps faltered at the sound, and she slowed down. She moved gently, and as she passed the intersection ahead, she saw a person standing in that room.
The person was wearing a white work uniform, with his hand propped against the wall.
The sound came from his mouth. At this moment, he was hunched over, his fingertips digging forcefully into the wall, looking extremely pained. And at his feet was a puddle of foul vomit.
Chu Yian wanted to walk past him; after all, it was none of her business.
However, just then, the vomiting person suddenly turned his head sharply, a pale face staring at Chu Yian. Although he could barely stand, he moved and reached out towards her.
His throat was extremely swollen, as if something was surging inside, about to burst through his mouth and gush out.
Chu Yian instinctively felt a slight sense of unease.
She started to back away.
Then she quickly rushed towards her own dormitory.
Opened the door.
Closed it again.
After making sure the door was securely closed, she pressed her ear to the door and heard faint footsteps in the corridor. Immediately after, there was the sound of someone trying the door; the person simply tried it, found the door couldn’t be opened, and seemed to leave.
Just as Chu Yian thought the crisis was over, she suddenly heard terrified cries for help from the next room.
The dormitory next door was attacked!
Chu Yian suddenly realized that not only this dormitory but other rooms in the corridor had been opened. The strange person in the corridor, finding their room couldn’t be opened, had attacked the next-door room!
Soon, hurried footsteps came from the corridor.
Several beast-like sounds erupted next door, and finally, the next room fell silent.
Chu Yian, with lingering fear, lay back on her bed, recalling what she had seen that night. There were no windows in the factory, and that strange person had attacked the dormitory next door.
And had Bai Sinian escaped with his people?
Whether Bai Sinian had escaped or not, she didn’t know, but all their actions tonight, everyone’s movements, were clearly seen by the boss behind the factory.
No one could escape the omnipresent surveillance.
Everyone who went out tonight was being monitored and found one by one.
On the large desk, their files were already piled high.
At this moment, a bony hand picked out one of them, “The rest, leave no one behind.”
