Zerg Invasion 20

Chapter 126: Zerg Invasion 20

The three people in the dormitory were drenched in cold sweat.

They remained silent.

The dormitory lights were off, and the outside light was brighter than the inside, which allowed those inside to see clearly outside, while making it difficult for those outside to see clearly inside. This was also why that person had to press tightly against the glass.

The three stood motionless, even their breathing became cautious.

It wasn’t until a few minutes later that the pair of eyes disappeared from the glass above the door.

“Xiaoxu, was that… the dorm manager?”

They recognized the bright forehead; it was indeed their dorm manager. Her usual hairstyle was always a ponytail, with the stray hairs on her forehead smoothed back with gel, pressed tightly against her scalp.

Her appearance and demeanor were slightly harsh.

But more than that, there was an inexplicable sense of eeriness and fear.

“Is she…”

Liu Xin wanted to say the word ‘Parasitized’, but Li Xiaoxu covered her mouth, signaling her to be quiet.

The three looked up at the door again, and sure enough, those eyes reappeared. This time, her eyes were pressed even closer, and the body of an insect slowly crawled across her eyeball before re-entering her brain.

Liu Xin covered her mouth with both hands to prevent herself from screaming.

Soon, the person at the window disappeared again.

But the three dared not speak again, quietly and intently staring at the glass on the door, afraid that the dorm manager outside would climb up for a third time.

Clap clap clap—

Footsteps echoed in the silent corridor, and the person outside finally left.

The backs of the three were soaked with sweat.

Terrifying, it was truly terrifying!

Meanwhile, in the laboratory.

The five academic bigwigs had already begun preparing to modify the sonar and move it out.

Chu Yian’s previous plan to carry the sonar out and kill wherever they went had merit. They even improved upon it: “We can create an expander so that the sonar can be heard throughout the entire campus.”

“The school’s broadcast system can transmit sound, but to make it a sound with destructive power, a little modification is still needed.”

“The five of us are definitely not enough.”

The five looked at Lu Qingyuan in the laboratory, “Qingyuan, we need helpers.”

The relevant teachers, as well as four or five students each of them deemed reliable, were listed by the five, forming a small group of nearly thirty people in total.

“Actually, a dozen people would be enough, but we’re worried that some of these people might already be Parasitized, so we wrote down more.”

“It’s alright, leave these people to us.”

Lu Qingyuan took the paper with the names written on it; his words had a more reliable feel than Principal Li’s.

Chu Yian took the list and copied several more copies by hand.

Taking advantage of it still being afternoon, the three hurried to the teaching building.

The teachers on the list were easier to find since Principal Li was very familiar with them, but the students were more troublesome. By seven in the evening, they had only found six teachers and four students.

They were brought into the laboratory and inevitably underwent the sonar’s baptism.

Two of the six teachers exploded, and one of the four students exploded.

They ended up with 7 panicked normal people.

At night, everyone stayed inside.

Chu Yian and Principal Li began to rest, while the bigwigs had already worked overtime, drawing design after design, intensely debating the sonar’s modifications.

Game Day 6

They were busy outside.

The relevant teachers had already been found. In one morning, they only found three students. After being put into the observation room and hit by the sonar, only one remained.

This one fainted directly from fright, which gave Chu Yian a headache.

“No need to find more people, we are enough.”

The five leading professors brought the design blueprints. After a full day of planning yesterday and almost coming to blows in fierce arguments, they had completed the designs. “We are about to modify the sonar, but we are still missing some equipment here. After the sonar is removed, it needs to be transported to the HM2 laboratory on the top floor of the Fourth Laboratory Building.”

The Fourth Laboratory Building and the Fifth Laboratory Building were only a hundred meters apart.

The sonar was fixed in this laboratory, and removing it would take some effort.

“When can you remove the sonar?”

“Around five or six in the afternoon.”

The last class of the afternoon at the school was at 5:30 PM, and some students had self-study in the evening, usually after 7:00 PM. Moreover, the Fourth and Fifth Laboratory Buildings were too far from the dormitories and the Cafeteria, so few people would come over.

The Parasitized were very cautious.

They would pretend when there were many people, but immediately drop the act when there were few.

Transporting the sonar after 5:30 PM would be more dangerous, but if they delayed for a day, who knew how many more Parasitized would appear on campus.

“Can you speed up the progress? Finish by five?” Lu Qingyuan looked at them.

“Yes.”

The old professor nodded, then called out to the rest of the people, “Everyone stop what you’re doing and come help.”

Hearing their plan, Chu Yian also had new ideas. “Teacher Lu, could you come to the dormitories with me?”

“What are you going there for?”

“There’s a courier station near the dormitories. They have special delivery carts. We can borrow one to transport the sonar.”

She explained, “Otherwise, we’d have to carry it.”

It wasn’t impossible to carry, but there was only one sonar, and if it broke, it would be gone. “Also, the dormitories are next to the school supermarket. We can stock up on some food and water.”

With so many mouths to feed in the laboratory, not having any food made the stockpiling expert uneasy.

Lu Qingyuan was convinced by her reasoning, and the two set off together.

People stood everywhere on the school’s tree-lined avenue.

These people didn’t follow them like they did at night, but a multitude of gazes invisibly followed their departing figures.

“So many people are watching us?”

Chu Yian keenly noticed these gazes and quietly told Lu Qingyuan.

“Don’t look around, just walk straight ahead.”

Lu Qingyuan reached out and supported her back, gently pushing her forward.

The two soon arrived at the courier station.

Because most students were still in class, the station was almost empty.

No one being there was normal, but no packages was very strange. The shelves, which used to be full every time they came, were now largely empty. They passed a student complaining to a companion that their package had been in the city for days but still hadn’t been delivered.

Chu Yian didn’t listen very carefully; her eyes were scanning the courier station for a small cart.

A moment later, she found it.

Then she picked a large one and ran off with it.

Lu Qingyuan, who had been standing calmly by, was momentarily stunned when he saw Chu Yian bolt. He then started to follow her, “Is this how you borrow things?”

“At a time like this, let’s not worry about such minor issues.”

Chu Yian ran while looking back, not seeing the station owner chasing after her, but she still ran very fast. “For the safety of the students, the owner is willing to donate his small cart.”
