The dorm room became very quiet, even their breathing was very light.
But Chu Yian couldn’t sleep.
She buried her head in the covers, making sure the phone’s light didn’t escape, then sent messages to two people simultaneously.
[Lulu, are you asleep? I saw Xu Yangyang downstairs, but she said she was just drinking water.]
[How long has she been down there?]
Zhang Lu replied quickly.
[Lulu is not exposed: She’s been down for almost ten minutes. Besides throwing up at first, she’s been staring at you the whole time. Little Chu, I accidentally made eye contact with her just now, and I felt a little scared.]
Chu Yian looked at the message she sent and then contacted Xu Yangyang.
[Yangyang, what you just said scared me a little. When did Zhang Lu start standing by my bed?]
[Xu Yangyang: About ten minutes, I guess. I got out of bed and made eye contact with her, then she got back into bed in a daze. Maybe she was just sleepwalking, and I overthought it.]
[Xu Yangyang: Don’t be scared, Little Chu. You and Lulu are usually the best of friends; she would never hurt you.]
[Xu Yangyang: Get some sleep early; we have class in the morning.]

Chu Yian looked at the two completely different answers.
Compared to the two, Xu Yangyang’s answer seemed more normal.
Was Zhang Lu really sleepwalking?
Chu Yian’s fingers unconsciously tapped the screen, pondering the credibility of their words. The phone screen flickered with her movements until she felt drowsy and suddenly felt something wet on her hand.
Warm and damp.
And a little sticky.
Chu Yian violently shook her hand and shone the phone’s light over it!
There was nothing there.
But there was a clear liquid on the back of her hand, and on her bedsheet, there was a thin, watery trail, as if something had crawled over it.
Sticky, with a fishy smell.
It wasn’t an illusion; there really had been a bug!
Chu Yian sprang up from her bed in a “carp jump” and leaped off the bed like a flash. Her movements were so loud that they woke up the other two people in the bed.
“What’s wrong, Little Chu?”
The two asked simultaneously.
Chu Yian kicked Zhang Lu’s bed, “Don’t sleep, hurry and come down!”
Zhang Lu didn’t know what was wrong with her, but hearing her urgent tone, Zhang Lu quickly climbed down the ladder. On the other side, Xu Yangyang also came down after hearing the commotion below, “Little Chu, what’s wrong? Is there something you need help with?”
Xu Yangyang got out of bed almost at the same time as Zhang Lu, and she reached out her hand towards Chu Yian.
Chu Yian kicked her fiercely, then grabbed Zhang Lu and ran out of the dorm room, slamming the door shut.
“What’s wrong, what’s wrong?”
Things happened too fast; Zhang Lu was completely bewildered at this moment, while Xu Yangyang, who was locked inside the room, was now trying to open the door.
Chu Yian held the door firmly, not letting her open it, and Xu Yangyang’s confused voice came from inside.
“Little Chu, what are you doing?”
“Little Chu, open the door for me!”
“Don’t be like this, Little Chu; if you continue, I’ll get angry.”
…From confusion to urgency, then to anger, and finally to fury!
“Open the door! Open the door!”
“Open the door!”
Xu Yangyang shrieked inside the room. Her voice gradually changed from a roar to a mere sharp scream, and then finally to an indescribable, high-pitched shriek.
This sound made Zhang Lu involuntarily cover her ears.
Chu Yian also felt the discomfort of the sound, which almost pierced her eardrums, but she dared not let go. Both of their attention was entirely focused on the door and they didn’t notice that on the same floor, two or three dorm room doors were quietly opening. Standing at the doorways were one or two girls, now staring at them expressionlessly…
“Who is it? So annoying this late at night!”
Suddenly, a loud complaint broke the eerie scene.
Immediately, more people started cursing, “Are you crazy? The sound of banging on the door is so loud late at night.”
“You don’t sleep, and you won’t let others sleep, right?”
“Is there any decency? This is so annoying!”
…Amidst a barrage of curses, the entire dorm building seemed to come alive.
Xu Yangyang inside also stopped banging, and the dorm room fell silent.
“Everyone, please hurry and call the dorm supervisor! One of our roommates has gone crazy!”
“She’s been acting strangely in the dorm, first getting up in the middle of the night to stare at us, then constantly banging on the wall. It’s so terrifying!”
Chu Yian looked around with a face full of horror, gone was the calm and collected demeanor she had when she pulled Zhang Lu out earlier.
Soon, the dorm supervisor arrived.
Perhaps because she was called up in the middle of the night, her face was grim, and she was carrying a large bunch of keys.
Chu Yian retreated far away, letting her open the door.
Everything Chu Yian had just done was because she was convinced that Xu Yangyang was the one lying!
Because if Zhang Lu was really sleepwalking, how could she make eye contact with Xu Yangyang? How could she send herself messages?
Moreover, Zhang Lu said Xu Yangyang was standing by her bed, Xu Yangyang said Zhang Lu was standing at her bed’s foot, and that eerie wet trail extended to the outer edge of her bed’s head.
Xu Yangyang might have been parasitized!
Turning on the lights in the dorm room, Xu Yangyang was seen standing alone in the middle of the room. Her hair was disheveled, her forehead bruised, and she wore only one slipper. When she saw a group of people standing at the door, she gave them a friendly smile.
“I’m sorry to have disturbed everyone.”
“My roommate and I had a little misunderstanding, my apologies.”
As she spoke, her gaze, helpless yet precise, locked onto Chu Yian in the crowd, “Little Chu, what are you doing?”
“Yangyang, no matter how much pressure you’re under, you must calm down!”
Chu Yian interjected before her, “You stood under the bed tonight, watching me and Lulu, and then suddenly lunged at us. If there’s something on your mind, just say it; don’t hurt yourself.”
These words were fabricated by Chu Yian on the spot.
But some of them were true.
Zhang Lu’s mind was still a bit muddled, but that didn’t stop her from nodding in agreement like an echo.
Now that two students in the dorm were saying this, coupled with Xu Yangyang’s bruised and swollen forehead and disheveled appearance, whose words were more credible was clear at a glance.
As a counselor, what was he most afraid of?
College students failing courses?
College students defying him?
College students delaying graduation?
College students not signing a tripartite agreement before graduation?
None of the above.
What counselors feared most was students climbing tall buildings alone during university, jumping to end their sorrows, holding poison and blades, and massacring their roommates.
So, upon hearing that Xu Yangyang had mental problems and almost harmed herself and her roommates, the counselor climbed out of bed, rushed straight to the dorm building, so nervous that he put his pants on backward.
