Chapter 52: Super Mold 16
When Uncle Chu said they should meet up, You Che was a little excited.
In his mind, Uncle Chu was a nine-foot tall figure with eight-pack abs, a square face, and graying temples. He was much like Huang Zhong from Honor of Kings, who always carried a tank with him.
Righteous and reassuring.
However, when they actually met… You Che looked at Chu Yian, then looked behind her.
Why didn’t Uncle Chu mention there was also a girl?
And this girl is quite pretty.
He should have washed his face before coming out. He wondered if the exhaustion of the past few days had affected his handsome appearance.
You Che’s inner world was very rich, while Chu Yian silently sized him up.
About 1.7 meters tall, half a head taller than herself. His build was relatively thin and frail, the kind of person who could be crushed by a single box. Such a person couldn’t really threaten her, but by the same token, he probably wouldn’t be much help in a fight.
While Chu Yian was secretly evaluating him in her mind, You Che also grew a little impatient.
He was the first to break the deadlock, “Girl, what should I call you? Where’s Uncle Chu?”
Chu Yian glanced at his deliberate attempt to act cool, “I am your Uncle Chu.”
You Che:…?
You Che initially refused to believe it. After all, the Uncle Chu he imagined was nine feet tall, with white hair and abs, who would come to save him with a tank. But now… in front of him was a girl who looked soft and easy to bully.
To summarize their first meeting – neither met the other’s expectations.
“Alright, don’t just stand there.”
Chu Yian stood on the concrete railing, looking down, still a little scared. She took a deep breath and leaped across to the other side.
“Have you prepared all your things?”
Chu Yian put down her backpack and walked into his room. During this time, she tightly gripped her crossbow and searched the entire room.
Confirmed, no one was inside.
“It’s all packed.”
You Che stood by the door, carrying a large hiking backpack on his back and a game-sponsored backpack on his front.
Chu Yian was stunned when she saw him, “Can you run with so much on your back?”
“I can run!”
You Che stubbornly declared, though the weight on his back already made his legs tremble.
But these were all precious supplies he had painstakingly collected bit by bit. Asking him to leave them here was like cutting his flesh and gouging out his heart.
“Alright then.”
Chu Yian nodded in understanding. As for him being caught because he ran too slowly… “Sacrifice the teammate, boundless power.”
Holy crap, is she that ruthless?
You Che was standing right next to her, it was really hard not to hear that.
“I think… it’s not necessary to bring too many things.”
You Che opened his small backpack, emptied it, and then stuffed in a few packs of compressed biscuits and two bottles of mineral water. Besides that, there was also a pair of nunchaku?
“You can use nunchaku?”
Chu Yian looked at the nunchaku in surprise.
“A little.”
You Che tied the metal nunchaku to his backpack’s shoulder strap. Seeing him lighten his load, Chu Yian finally agreed, ready to leave.
The elevator in the apartment building had long been destroyed, leaving only two staircases on the left and right to go downstairs.
From the sixteenth floor down, both tried to be as quiet as possible. As they got closer to the eighth floor, both became nervous, and their heartbeats quickened.
You Che led the way with his nunchaku, while Chu Yian guarded the rear with her crossbow.
They completely passed the eighth floor.
However, before they could even breathe a sigh of relief, they ran into two robbers coming up from the fifth and sixth floors, armed with weapons.
“Damn, trying to run?”
The man with the red headscarf next to them chopped an axe into the stair railing, making a clang. The two blocked their path, their gaze sweeping over You Che and landing on Chu Yian.
“Brother, we understand the rules of the road.”
Chu Yian cooperatively showed her backpack, which contained only two compressed biscuits and two bottles of mineral water. “We live on the 16th floor and want to go back to our hometown. We haven’t taken anything except a day’s rations. Everything is in the room; feel free to take whatever you want.”
After Chu Yian spoke, You Che also opened his backpack.
The food inside was only slightly more than Chu Yian’s.
“Who wants your poor food?”
Brother Bai brought them to loot this Residential Area, making them rich in one go. With an entire Residential Area before them, they wouldn’t even care about the little food in their backpacks.
But they were interested in Chu Yian’s weapon and her person.
“Little girl, why go back to the countryside? Why not follow our Brother Bai? He’s tender with women, and he’ll take you to eat well and live luxuriously,” the man with the green dragon tattoo on his left shoulder said playfully.
If Brother Bai wasn’t interested, it didn’t matter; she could also be thrown to their subordinates to play with.
Chu Yian looked at their demeanor. Even after saying all the good words, these idiots would most likely not let them go. She directly raised her crossbow, aiming at the tattooed youth’s head, “Are you going to move or not?”
“Little girl, I advise you not to refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit!”
Seeing Chu Yian’s stance, the Tattooed Man was about to snatch the crossbow from her hand. You Che then stepped forward, swung his nunchaku, and with a few swishes, forced the Tattooed Man to recoil and retreat.
“A-da!”
You Che unleashed a flurry of attacks, even adding a signature Bruce Lee sound effect. Then… he was punched in the face by the Tattooed Man, instantly dizzy and stunned.
Chu Yian made a decisive move, aiming directly at the man’s thigh and pulling the crossbow trigger.
The crossbow bolt pierced his thigh, making the Tattooed Man scream in pain, while the Red-Headscarf Man rushed forward, also targeting the crossbow in Chu Yian’s hand.
Chu Yian quickly ran upwards. After creating a slight distance from the man, she shot an arrow at him. Chu Yian only aimed wildly, but the arrow directly hit the man’s left eye.
“Ah—!”
A piercing wail, and the headscarf man clutched his eye and crouched down. Blood flowed from between his fingers, and Chu Yian’s face instantly turned pale with fright. She had originally intended to shoot them in the thigh to incapacitate them.
The man’s scream alerted their companions; someone was coming down from upstairs.
But there was no time to worry about that now.
“Go!”
Chu Yian shouted at the terrified You Che and ran downstairs. However, after only two steps, her backpack was grabbed.
Chu Yian instinctively turned her head and saw a man with a scar above his eyebrow, standing behind her like a cold, blood-stained mountain of knives.
Danger!
Chu Yian immediately performed a ‘Golden Cicada Shedding Its Shell,’ ditching her backpack and running even faster.
However, the man’s companion was even more formidable; he vaulted over the railing, blocking their next flight of stairs in just two moves, while above, the other companions had already caught up.
Chu Yian and You Che were now in a dilemma, trapped between going up and down.
“Get out of the way!”
Chu Yian aimed her crossbow at the young man in front.
