Chapter 71: Gifted
Early morning.
Jiang Mianmian woke up.
Feeling that she was lying on her stomach, she exerted force, wiggled her bottom, and—thump.
Her vision brightened.
She had actually succeeded in rolling over.
Jiang Mianmian was pleasantly surprised; heaven knows that being unable to turn her own body made her really feel like a little turtle.
Excited, she tried hard to roll again and flipped herself back onto her stomach.
With another roll, she was back on her front.
She grunted as she rolled over several times, and just as she was about to roll off the bed… (the book almost ended again), Qin Luoxia entered the room, her heart leaping into her throat in fright.
She hurriedly scooped up the baby and placed her in the middle of the bed.
Qin Luoxia was both surprised and delighted; she hadn’t expected such a small baby to be able to roll over already.
Her Mianmian must take after her Father; she was smart from a young age.
Jiang Changtian finished washing up and entered the room, intending to tell his wife he was going to work.
As a result, Sister Xia grabbed him and said excitedly, “Husband, come quickly and look, Mianmian can roll over.”
Jiang Mianmian, encouraged by Mother’s voice and Father’s encouraging gaze, wiggled her bottom, propped herself up with her little hands, and rolled over with effort.
She felt a bit embarrassed, but also a bit proud.
She tried her best to keep a straight face, modestly waiting for praise.
As expected, Father was very happy.
He picked her up and held her high.
“Mianmian is so amazing! When you get a little bigger, Father will buy you candy.”
He kissed her all over her face, leaving her covered in saliva.
Jiang Mianmian was overjoyed by the praise and drooled a lot herself.
When Elder Sister and Elder Brother got up.
Jiang Mianmian performed her rolling skills for Elder Sister and Elder Brother respectively.
Jiang Yu looked at her younger sister with longing eyes and exclaimed with admiration, “Sister is so amazing, being able to roll over so early. You’re so agile; in the future, Elder Sister will take you to the trees to catch birds to eat.”
Jiang Feng was truly pleasantly surprised.
Watching his younger sister struggle to wiggle her bottom and roll over, then lie there smiling proudly, he felt fortunate.
Fortunate that he hadn’t left home.
That he hadn’t missed any moment of his sister’s growth.
Being able to watch his sister grow up was a happy thing.
Jiang Mianmian was held high by her Elder Brother again, praised over and over.
She was also very happy.
She thought, childhood is truly wonderful; even being able to roll over is considered super amazing.
After growing up, let alone rolling over, even doing somersaults wouldn’t earn any praise; instead, people might point and say, “Look, there’s a monkey!”
Jiang Mianmian got tired of rolling, so she drank milk, peed and pooped, then lay there watching Elder Brother practice the sword.
In the courtyard, a young man held a sword, practicing earnestly.
The long sword emitted a “whoosh, whoosh, whoosh” sound from time to time.
This was the Sword Manual that Jiang Feng had shamelessly asked Meng Shaoxia for.
Sometimes, one should be a little thick-skinned.
The young man practiced the sword very seriously.
When thirsty, he drank a cup of water and continued practicing.
At first, it was clumsy, but soon it began to take shape.
What he was learning were very basic sword moves, not complex at all.
Because he had no foundation in sword practice, what Meng Shaoxia gave him was also basic military sword techniques.
Simple and easy to learn, not mysterious, but formed from the experience summarized by generations of ancestors.
Jiang Feng had the patience to practice for two or three hours every day.
He felt he was slow, not as good as Brother Meng, with worse conditions and a later start, so he could only rely on diligence.
Practicing the sword early in the morning and before bed.
The young man’s sweat was shed.
At first, the young man’s sword split firewood, and wood chips flew everywhere.
Mianmian could roll over, rolling back and forth.
Later, the young man’s sword easily split firewood, with no wood chips.
Mianmian easily rolled over and then sat up.
Later still, the young man’s sword cut off leaves from the treetop without affecting other leaves.
On this day, Mianmian learned to crawl.
Her progress was as fast as her brother’s!
The whole family was praising her just because she could crawl.
Elder Brother’s sword had cut down leaves from the tree; Jiang Mianmian felt she had seen the legendary sword energy.
But no one praised him.
Everyone was surrounding her, praising her.
“Sister is so amazing, gifted,” Jiang Yu exclaimed in surprise.
Father clapped from the side, shouting encouragement.
Mother waved an axe.
Elder Brother sighed while holding his sword.
A smile was also on his face.
Everyone watched her crawl.
Jiang Mianmian crawled so hard, so very hard.
She used all her strength.
Because she knew that after growing up, it would be too hard to get praise.
That was sword energy from Elder Brother, sword energy… Look at Elder Brother, everyone! I only learned to crawl, it’s nothing special; even if I couldn’t crawl now, I would learn in a few months.
Forget it; it’s better to work a little harder while she’s still young and can get praise. It’s just crawling a few steps, she can do it.
She crawled and crawled in her four padded jackets, got tired, sat up, and accidentally rolled over. The clothes were thick, so it didn’t hurt at all.
The gifted Jiang Mianmian had learned to crawl.
It was winter.
