Bang—!
The impact of the zombies outside the car made the vehicle sway.
Seeing this, Lu Qingyuan grabbed Chu Yian by the collar of her clothes, lifting her entirely from her seat. Chu Yian only felt a dizzying spin, and they had switched places.

While Chu Yian was still in shock, Lu Qingyuan had already restarted the car and drove straight out of the small shop.
More and more zombies surrounded them; one even jumped onto the windshield. It frantically slammed its body against the glass, and soon the glass was covered in spiderweb-like cracks and bloodstains.

She was truly starving; bread had never tasted so good.

After downing two loaves of bread, her spirits instantly lifted.

“The highway toll booth.”

“Because the virus spread too fast, the people at the toll booth didn’t react in time. More and more people got stuck on the road, plus there might have been zombies inside their cars, so it turned into this?”
Chu Yian analyzed, following his words, then her brows furrowed tightly, “It can’t be like this on every road, can it?”
Then how would they get to X City?
She couldn’t help but worry now.
“There should be some village paths nearby.”
Lu Qingyuan re-adjusted his direction and turned back the way they came.
But halfway through driving, Lu Qingyuan stopped the vehicle in an open, safe spot and switched places with her.

Lu Qingyuan sat back in the passenger seat expressionlessly, reaching for his seatbelt.

The country roads crisscrossed in all directions, and there was a risk of taking a wrong turn if they weren’t careful.
As two outsiders, trying to find a way to bypass the highway felt like blindly stumbling around.

“Teacher Lu, did you see the Government in the town just now?”
“Yes, I remember the location of that building.”

Government offices usually have detailed maps of their town and its surroundings. Chu Yian’s clear thinking to consider this was unexpected.
The two immediately agreed, turned the car around, and headed back to the small town.
There were quite a few zombies in the town.
But Lu Qingyuan not only remembered the location of the Government building but also the distribution of the awakened zombies. He even calculated their approximate positions after they moved, managing to point out a path with the fewest zombies, speeding all the way to the Government building.
This brain! Chu Yian finally understood why he was a researcher.
The vehicle stopped, and two zombies still heard the sound and rushed towards their small car.
Lu Qingyuan grabbed an iron wrench and climbed out of the car roof, using the vehicle as cover and Chu Yian inside as bait, he killed both zombies.
Then he opened the car door and motioned for Chu Yian to get out, “Get the map and leave, try not to use the gun.”
“I think… we already have the map.” Chu Yian pointed to the outer wall of the Government building for Lu Qingyuan.
The outer wall of the building was fully utilized, covered with announcements, and the background was the town map!
A long-lost smile appeared on her face, feeling as if she had been blessed by the goddess of luck, “Teacher Lu, we’re so lucky!”
Teacher Lu was already pulling down the announcements blocking the map.
The map was drawn on the wall and couldn’t be taken away. One of them memorized it, and the other took photos with a phone, working together with great tacit agreement.
In just two minutes, they had the map and left.
Chu Yian got back into the driver’s seat, just about to drive away, when she saw smoke coming from a balcony of a three-story Western-style house.
