Chapter 300: Good Night, My Little Enchantress
Nan Xun spat out the mouthful of water she’d just taken—pfft—spraying it all over the screen.
Holy crap—Ou Qian?!
Just one second before midnight, Male God Ou Qian had left her a comment, asking why she hadn’t uploaded his sketch today.
Nan Xun was completely stunned.
Don’t tell her that the male god was actually waiting every day for her sketch, just like those fans crying to be fed?
She glanced at the comment section.
It had exploded—like a nuclear bomb.
I’mSoHandsomeNoExplanation (Shuai Jiu):
Oh my god, are my eyes broken? Why am I seeing Ou Qian?!
Hang Hang:
Wait—does Ou Qian actually wait every day for Miss Shan Shui’s sketches? Holy crap, I can’t believe it!
Shaonian:
I’m suddenly curious—what does Ou Qian think when he sees all those blunt, fiery confessions from the young lady every day?
Everything Goes Smoothly:
I just imagined Ou Qian secretly waiting for her Manman updates like I do every day, and now I’m laughing and crying on the spot.
Crayon Xiaoxi:
Waaah, why do I smell a strong hint of scandal here? Please tell me I’m not alone.
Little Fox Ya:
You’re not alone.
Violent Pig Girl:
You’re not alone.
……
Nan Xun checked the time—1:10 a.m.
After sipping some hot water to warm her stomach, she took out paper and pen.
At 1:30, Nan Xun uploaded an extremely provocative “bedside little enchantress” sketch to Manman.
On a luxurious bed, a man reclined lazily. His long eyes were half-lowered, thin lips slightly parted, exuding an air of indolent temptation. One hand ran through his tousled hair, the other rested on a slightly bent knee. A loose shirt lay messily around his waist. Though the drawing didn’t show the shirt’s color, everyone could imagine it—pure white, loose, and outrageously seductive. His toned upper body was exposed, eight-pack abs perfectly defined, smooth and beautiful lines that made noses bleed at first glance.
This wasn’t any of Ou Qian’s on-screen roles, nor a magazine photoshoot.
It was entirely Nan Xun’s own imagination.
As usual, a line of text from Shan Shui accompanied the sketch:
Good night, my Ou Qian little enchantress. You’re getting more and more captivating. Mua~

……
Nan Xun hadn’t expected so many fans to still be waiting at this hour. A strange feeling welled up inside her—sweet, yet a little bittersweet.
She scrolled further.
Lazy—Fourth Aunt:
Little beauty Shan Shui, take care of your health. It’s really late.
Rule the World with Kingly Style:
Feel bad for my Shui—don’t overwork yourself. If it really comes to it, bro can support you, hands on hips laughing.GIF
Nan Xun’s lips curved slightly as she replied to a few people:
You should sleep early too. Good night.
After a quick wash, Nan Xun slept straight through until morning.
As soon as she arrived at the company, Zhao Rui brought good news—he’d secured her an audition opportunity.
Nan Xun was pleasantly surprised. She’d only just entered the entertainment industry and had zero experience, yet in just one month she already had a chance to audition.
After Zhao Rui explained, she finally understood why he’d recommended her.
The role only appeared in five or six episodes. Compared to other characters, it didn’t require much acting skill—she just needed to look beautiful on camera.
Though the role wasn’t even female fourth or fifth lead—
But! She acted opposite the male lead.
The character was the male lead’s childhood sweetheart—the number one beauty of the martial world. She could wield a sword and was skilled in qin, chess, calligraphy, and painting—perfect in every way. She was the male lead’s white moonlight, the one he would keep recalling later in the story. Though her screen time was short, she threaded through the entire plot.
Nan Xun laughed after reading the script.
It was practically tailor-made for her.
What was she best at?
Putting on airs.
Zhao Rui was even more excited than she was.
“Do you know whose project this is? A script personally written by gold-medal screenwriter Wang Yu, directed by the famous Director Wang Dong! Don’t underestimate this small role—Director Wang’s dramas always explode in popularity. Not just the male and female leads—even minor supporting roles get famous!”
Finally, Zhao Rui patted Nan Xun on the shoulder and said earnestly,
“Let’s do our best to get this role. Even if we don’t, don’t be discouraged—we’ll have other chances.”
He naturally hoped Shan Shui would land it, but since it was Director Wang’s production, competition would be fierce even for a small role. Getting hopes too high only to be disappointed would hurt.
Nan Xun nodded.
“I understand. Thank you, Brother Zhao.”
On the audition day, Nan Xun wore a vintage pale-purple gauze dress. Her jet-black hair fell freely down her back, reaching her waist, with no adornments. Her makeup was light, lips brushed with nude lip balm, brows drawn softer and gentler.
There were twenty to thirty auditionees—already a lot for such a minor role.
Nan Xun arrived fifteen minutes early and found an empty seat to sit down.
From her observation, all the auditioning girls were in their early twenties—pretty faces, but their beauty was somewhat cookie-cutter: pointy chins and big eyes.
Director Wang was indeed punctual. At exactly 8:30, auditions began. One by one, people entered, then exited through another door after finishing.
Long auditions lasted about five minutes; short ones only one or two.
Nan Xun waited quietly for her name to be called, but the beauty sitting beside her clearly couldn’t sit still.
She leaned over and whispered excitedly,
“I’ll tell you an inside scoop—don’t tell anyone. Ou Qian is one of the interviewers today.”
Nan Xun’s lowered eyes snapped up.
“Is that true?”
The girl grinned, clearly enjoying the reaction.
“Absolutely. I heard Ou Qian is also one of the investors in this drama, and Director Wang dragged him over to be an interviewer. We’re secondary—the main thing is auditioning the male second lead this afternoon.”
Then she added with some regret,
“Honestly, I think you really suit this role. You’re so pretty—especially today. I can already imagine you in costume. But—”
She sighed.
“I’ll be honest with you. I heard this role’s already been internally decided. We’re basically here to go through the motions. I’m not expecting much—I mainly came to see Male God Ou Qian.”
Nan Xun’s gaze darkened slightly.
It was possible. Though Zhao Rui said Director Wang hated investors forcing people into his crew, this role didn’t demand much acting. If the recommended person had decent skills and fit the character, Director Wang might do them a favor.
The girl—Fang Xiao’ai—was about to say more when someone inside called out:
“Next—Yixin artist, Shan Shui.”
Nan Xun took a deep breath at the door, then pushed it open and walked in.
Three people sat across from her, but her eyes went straight to the man on the far side—he was simply too eye-catching.
He wore a snow-white shirt, the top two buttons undone, a glimpse of collarbone visible. One hand propped his head, long fingers buried in short black hair. His head tilted slightly, eyes half-closed—lazy to the extreme.
When Nan Xun looked over, he lifted those half-lowered eyes at the same moment.
His gaze was languid.
And it met hers directly.
