Chapter 273: Just Now, You Looked Like a Demon
Hearing this, Nan Xun suddenly found it very funny. On the surface, however, she answered with solemn seriousness,
“My lord, do you really think I like only the version of you that outsiders see? I forgot to tell you—those meals I’ve eaten weren’t for nothing.”
She tapped her own head.
“They all went into growing brains. My five senses are very sharp. Three and a half years ago, when I first glimpsed you through your palanquin, I already knew—you were anything but ordinary.”
Little Eight chuckled. “Talking nonsense with a straight face. Back then it was because I strengthened your five senses—lent you a pair of discerning eyes and a dog’s nose.”
Nan Xun replied calmly, “You’re part of my body now.”
Little Eight: …
Shameless.
Her words seemed to surprise Gong Mo Ran. His gaze shifted slightly.
“Oh? Then tell me, Duoduo—how exactly is this lord not ordinary?”
Nan Xun paused, then spoke slowly,
“Besides your natural scent and sandalwood incense, there’s another faint smell on you—a decayed, withered scent. Ordinary people can’t smell it. Only I can. With that, do you believe me now?”
Gong Mo Ran’s movement stopped abruptly. He turned to look at her, his eyes turning strange.
Nan Xun hugged his waist from behind, resting her head lightly on his shoulder. Her voice was low but firm.
“My lord, if you set fires, I’ll keep watch for you. If you kill, I’ll hand you the knife. I want you to know—no matter what you’re plotting, you’re not alone. In this world, there is still one Li Yunduo willing to fight at your side.”
Gong Mo Ran was silent for a moment. Then the corner of his lips lifted into a faint smile—utterly unlike his usual fleeting gentleness. It sent a chill down one’s spine.
“Duoduo, you truly are a gift from the heavens. Remember what you said today. If one day I must descend into hell… then come to hell with me.”
Nan Xun’s lips twitched. Seriously? she complained inwardly, while outwardly answering with gravity:
“Duoduo lives as my lord’s person and dies as my lord’s ghost. For you, I’d brave blades and boiling oil alike. If you truly go to hell, of course I’ll follow—there are plenty of alluring ghosts down there. If I don’t keep a close eye on you, what if some other beauty steals your soul?”
Gong Mo Ran let out a soft snort through his nose—almost a laugh.
He patted the small hands at his waist, pulled her to face him, and stared at her quietly, as if looking straight through her clear eyes into her heart.
After a moment, his long eyes narrowed slightly. He chuckled, suddenly grabbed her shoulders, yanked her into his arms, lifted her chin, and lowered his head to kiss her.
The kiss was fierce and domineering—intense and scorching. Nan Xun gasped hard, nearly blacking out from lack of air.
Damn it. She’d only been expressing loyalty to lower his guard. She never imagined the big boss could flip a switch so fast. This version of him was genuinely terrifying.
When their lips finally parted, he bit down hard on her soft mouth, as if branding her with his mark.
Nan Xun reached up—her lip was bleeding.
He leaned in, slowly licking away the blood. That wicked, demonic look stunned her, and the icy touch on her lips turned her instantly stiff.
Little Eight shrieked, “Holy shit, Nan Xun, what did you DO? Why did a perfectly fine big boss turn into this monster? So scary—waaah! Even scarier—after he changed like this, his malice value dropped by five points!”
Nan Xun replied calmly, “So I’ve just discovered a new way to unlock the big boss’s malice reduction—completely unleash the twisted side of his heart.”
Little Eight: …
Waaah.
After cleaning the blood from her lips, Gong Mo Ran sighed softly.
“I lost control just now. Duoduo—earlier, you really did look like a demon.”
Nan Xun cursed inwardly. The demon is clearly you.
“Come, Duoduo. Sit in my lap.”
He sat down on the cushioned chair by the desk and extended a hand.
Nan Xun walked over, but before she could get close, he pulled her into his arms.
He parted her legs and settled her onto his knee, like a child sitting on an adult’s lap.
He discarded the yellow paper he’d been using and handed her a fresh sheet.
“Come, Duoduo. I’ll teach you witchcraft. First, cut a little paper figure from this.”
Nan Xun blinked and tilted her head.
“But my lord, just now you wrote Princess Yao’s birth data directly on the paper. You didn’t cut any paper figure. Why do I have to cut one?”
He shot her a sideways glance.
“You think you can compare yourself to me? I tell you what to do, and you do it. That sweet little mouth of yours just said so many nice things—have you already forgotten?”
Nan Xun pouted, took the large scissors from the corner of the table, and began cutting seriously.
As she lowered her head, a stretch of fair, jade-like skin at the back of her neck was exposed—slightly warm, because the man behind her was watching.
She shrank a little inside. Little Eight… I think I regret this just a tiny bit. The big boss now is already hard to handle. If he really lets the beast inside him loose, will I even survive?
Little Eight replied cheerfully, “You’ve already served yourself up as a delicacy. Once the beast is full, everything will be fine. Be good—what happens next is up to you~”
Nan Xun: …
So all that “fear” earlier was fake. Little Eight was probably thrilled.
She cut out a little paper figure with arms and legs, then couldn’t help laughing.
“My lord, do you think I cut it nicely?”
Gong Mo Ran said nothing else. He simply leaned close to her ear and gently reminded her,
“Duoduo, this paper figure is your enemy.”
The warm, damp breath by her ear made Nan Xun’s hand jerk. The scissors nicked the paper figure’s arm, leaving it deformed.
Gong Mo Ran chuckled softly.
“Yes, Duoduo—just like that. In front of me, you can show all your joy, anger, sorrow, and delight. Like what you like, dislike what you dislike. I like your straightforward nature.”
Nan Xun: …
Could she say she really hadn’t done it on purpose?
Was she that childish—venting anger on a paper figure? If she wanted to vent, she’d go find the real person. The little paper figure was so cute, and now she’d mangled it into a monster.
“Duoduo, continue. Write Princess Yao’s birth data on the back of the paper figure.”
Nan Xun held the figure, dazed.
“My lord, the front and back look the same. How do I know which side is the back?”
The corner of Gong Mo Ran’s lips lifted. He suddenly raised his arm, grasped her pen-holding hand, and used it to poke three random dots onto the paper figure’s face.
“There. This is the front. Now write on her back.”
Nan Xun: …
