Chapter 225: A God Descends from the Heavens
While everyone was immersed in overwhelming grief, A-Mang quietly asked Nan Xun, “A-Xi, do you really have a way to save them? Will it consume a lot of your shamanic power?”
At the words shamanic power, the corner of Nan Xun’s mouth twitched hard.
Sure enough—whatever she said, A-Mang believed.
“A-Mang, I lied to them earlier. I don’t have a way to save them yet,” Nan Xun said.
A-Mang pressed his lips together. His expression suddenly turned solemn—whether he thought Nan Xun was holding back, or for some other reason, it was hard to tell.
Then he suggested, “When it gets dark, I’ll secretly kill the infected ones and burn them. That way the disease won’t spread.”
The man’s expression was deadly serious. He was absolutely not joking.
Little Eight: “Holy crap—wahhh—scared me to death! This savage is way too brutal. How can he talk about killing people so casually?”
Nan Xun comforted it. “It’s the prehistoric era. People’s desires and thoughts are written all over their faces. I actually think A-Mang is straightforward and kind of cute.”
Little Eight: “……”
Nan Xun didn’t let A-Mang do such a thing. She didn’t want him burdened with that much blood on his hands—it wouldn’t be good for his descendants.
Then Nan Xun turned her attention to Little Eight. “Do you have any miracle pills or elixirs that can cure a plague?”
Little Eight instantly went on guard. “What? You want me to save these people? I’m telling you, impossible. Pills are limited, and this isn’t something we’re allowed to intervene in.”
Nan Xun didn’t press it further. She suddenly smiled lightly. “Little Eight, you just reminded me—these matters really aren’t for us to intervene in. But Chu Xue can. She’ll definitely have a way.”
“A-Mang, let’s go! To my former tribe.”
When the fire-breathing giant bird carried the man and woman away, shrinking to a tiny dot in the sky, the cannibal tribe members were still craning their necks to watch.
“Do you think A-Xi is really a shaman? Will she truly save us?” someone suddenly asked.
Everyone fell silent.
If this plague had truly been brought by A-Xi, then why would she save them?
Who said that only shamans could command beasts? She might be a Uto God—one who brings harvests and happiness to humankind! And that fire-breathing strange bird wasn’t a man-eating monster either; it might be a divine beast!
Thinking this, the tribe members’ expressions shifted from suspicion and hatred to awe.
A Uto God’s emissary! A-Xi wasn’t a shaman—she was the emissary of the Uto God, who brought happiness and abundance!

When Big Gray reached Chu Xue’s tribe, it wasn’t as lucky as before. Before it could even land, the men of the tribe began shooting arrows at it.
Big Gray was furious. It opened its beak, about to spew fire into the tribe, but Nan Xun hurriedly soothed it.
Nan Xun stood up, and A-Mang promptly held her calves to keep her from losing her balance and falling.
“Chu Xue, it’s me! I’m A-Xi—” Nan Xun shouted into the tribe. “Chu Xue, I have something urgent to discuss!”
After that, Nan Xun had Big Gray land on an open field outside the tribe.
Not long after, led by Chu Xue and A-Yu, thirty or forty warriors charged out.
When Chu Xue saw A-Xi, her joy was impossible to hide. After saying something to the wary A-Yu, she ran toward Nan Xun without hesitation. “A-Xi, I’ve missed you so much! How have you been among the cannibals?”
Nan Xun didn’t have time for catching up and quickly explained her purpose.
Chu Xue was shocked. “A-Xi, you mean a plague? Our tribe had an outbreak some time ago, but I discovered a kind of root that can cure it. All the infected were treated. I thought only our tribe was affected—are other tribes infected too…?”
Nan Xun nodded. “I suspect all the nearby tribes are infected. The cannibal tribe has already lost more than half its people. If they aren’t treated soon, the entire tribe may be wiped out!”
Chu Xue immediately brought out the medicinal root. “A-Xi, look—it’s this one. Thin, long leaves above the root. It’s everywhere in the forest.”
Nan Xun hugged Chu Xue tightly. “Thank you, little sister. May you always be happy.”
Chu Xue froze for a moment. After her gaze flickered, it grew resolute. “I will. I’ll hold my own happiness firmly in my hands.”
She glanced at A-Yu not far behind her. Beside him stood a beautiful woman with a slightly rounded belly.
A-Yu was now the new chieftain. As the tribe grew stronger, members of declining tribes—especially women—kept coming to seek refuge. With more women in the tribe, each man naturally had more allotted to him.
A-Yu had insisted on refusing, but those women clung to him like flies that wouldn’t go away. Chu Xue had always trusted him—yet in a moment of inattention, she’d let a woman named A-Xiang scheme against him.
A-Xiang fed A-Yu a love fruit. The two spent the night together, and now she was carrying A-Yu’s child.
Nan Xun saw A-Xiang too. She hadn’t expected that vile woman to abandon the cannibal tribe so early and defect here.
This haunting woman—not content with coveting her man—had now schemed against Chu Xue’s man!
“Chu Xue, be careful of that woman,” Nan Xun warned before leaving.
“Don’t worry. I’ll kill her sooner or later,” Chu Xue said coldly.
Nan Xun: “……”
Unbelievable—she had accidentally witnessed the darkening of a delicate little white flower.
Chu Xue said indifferently, “I know A-Yu loves only me. Even if he didn’t mean it, it still feels like I swallowed a fly—disgusting. But I have no better choice. Compared to all other men, he’s already an exception. I can’t push him into another woman’s arms over a single mistake.”
Nan Xun didn’t have the heart to say it: A-Yu wasn’t the exception—her A-Mang was.
Chu Xue had suffered enough. Nan Xun wouldn’t rub salt into her wounds.
Under everyone’s stunned gazes, Nan Xun and A-Mang mounted Big Gray and soared into the sky.
“My gods—A-Xi is the emissary of the Uto God! She can command beasts!” someone suddenly cried out, and the tribe instantly erupted.
Everyone dropped to their knees, kowtowing repeatedly in the direction of the great bird.
Even after Big Gray had flown far away, Nan Xun could still see the kneeling prehistoric people below, prostrate in reverence, as small as ants.
“I never thought I’d get to enjoy this kind of worship one day,” Nan Xun boasted smugly to Little Eight in her mind.
Little Eight: “……”
Nan Xun and A-Mang gathered large amounts of the medicinal roots in the forest and brought them to the cannibal tribe and all the nearby plague-stricken tribes.
They descended like gods, saving tribe after tribe, large and small. Nan Xun became known as the emissary of the Uto God, revered by all.
Back in the treehouse, A-Mang pulled her into his arms, holding her so tightly as if afraid she’d vanish in the blink of an eye.
Half-asleep, Nan Xun heard the man murmur by her ear, “A-Xi, so you’re not a shaman, but the emissary of the Uto God. No matter what you are, you’re my A-Xi. You’re not allowed to go anywhere…”
Just as domineering as ever.
In her dreams, Nan Xun gently curled her lips.
The two returned to their peaceful, sweet little life—but it was as if the heavens had been angered by something, determined to punish all life in this forest. Not long after the plague, a great fire descended from the sky.
Raging flames engulfed the entire forest, soaring high as thick smoke billowed everywhere.
