After Transmigrating into a 1960s Novel, What’s Wrong with Me Being a Little Bad? – CH32

Chapter 32

After Lin Wan and Huo Xiao left the Zhang residence, Huang Guixiang flipped the dining table right then and there.

If she harbored anger in her heart, she absolutely would not let it simmer overnight! Since they wouldn’t let her feel comfortable, she wouldn’t let anyone in their family feel comfortable either!

Clatter, crash…

Every single bowl, chopstick, and plate on the table that hadn’t been cleared away yet crashed to the ground, leaving the floor in a complete shambles.

The children were instantly frightened into crying, while Bao Yan and Zhong Hongmei screamed in sheer terror.

The rest of the Zhang family stood in absolute daze. Why on earth had she suddenly gone mad on such a wonderful day?

“What’s going on out there?” the neighbors hurriedly knocked on the door and asked.

Huang Guixiang explained through the closed door, “Eldest Daughter-in-law accidentally tripped and crashed into the table. Shattered shards bring peace and good fortune, shattered shards bring peace and good fortune!”

She then raised her voice toward the room, “Eldest Daughter-in-law, you’d better watch where you’re walking in the future. If items shatter, we can always buy new ones, but what the hell are we going to do if you break your legs?”

“Why is everyone just standing there frozen? Hurry up and clean this up!”

“Are you all waiting for me to clean it?!”

The massive household hurriedly moved into action.

Huang Guixiang let out a cold sneer. “Lock this into your minds: our Wanwan didn’t bring her partner back to sleep here, so if anyone in your Zhang family runs into bad luck in the future, don’t you dare go pinning the blame on our Wanwan!”

Only now did the members of the Zhang family comprehend exactly why Huang Guixiang had suddenly thrown a tantrum.

Huang Guixiang completely ignored Zhang Aimin, who was trailing right after her trying to explain himself. After fetching water to wash up, she walked straight into Lin Wan’s bedroom and went to sleep there.

Zhang Aimin stood helplessly before Lin Wan’s closed door, tapping it gently. “Guixiang… look at how things turned out… you can’t blame me for this, Guixiang…”

Huang Guixiang barked back, “If I can’t blame you, should I blame myself instead?”

“We are getting a divorce!”

Zhang Aimin was utterly flabbergasted. He leaned flat against the door, pleading, “Guixiang, if there is an issue, let’s talk it over properly. You can’t just throw out a divorce!”

“Guixiang… oh, Guixiang…”

Huang Guixiang snapped, “Beat it! Otherwise, I’m packing my things and leaving right this instant!”

Zhang Aimin didn’t dare utter another word. Clutching his head, he squatted pitifully right at the doorstep.

Seeing that the couple was already threatening divorce, the first and second branches finished cleaning the living room and swiftly shrank back into their respective rooms, not daring to mix themselves up in the fray.

Zhong Hongmei whispered into Zhang Hongjun’s ear, “That old vixen found herself a backer, so a divorce slips right out of her mouth, and her confidence is completely overflowing. Just look at the spineless, submissive way our dad is acting—he is truly held in a death grip by her.”

“In the past, I used to hope she would divorce Dad, but now that she has reeled in such an excellent son-in-law, we are bound to ride their coattails more or less in the future. Judging by the way Little Huo spends money, his family background is incredibly deep.”

“Crucially, it’s about the connections. If the children want to enlist in the military in the future, we might be able to ask him to lend a hand.”

Zhang Hongjun dismissed her words. “Only our dad would fall for her tactics. In this day and age, what decent woman actually gets a divorce? Huang Guixiang was a widow to begin with, and if she gets a second divorce, her reputation will be completely ruined! There is absolutely no way she will actually get a divorce!”

Next door, the couple of the first branch was having a full row.

Zhang Hongqi lowered his voice to scold Bao Yan, “Why did you have to stick your neck out?”

“Did it make you look clever or what?”

“No matter how small the Zhang family residence is, could it genuinely lack a single spot for Little Huo to sleep? Couldn’t he have just slept with Hongqiang?”

“He isn’t marrying into our household as a resident son-in-law, so would he actually have the nerve to sleep in the same bed as Lin Wan right under his father-in-law’s roof?”

“You just had to flap your gums!”

“If that trash mouth of yours doesn’t know how to speak properly, I’ll use a needle and thread to sew it shut!”

Bao Yan covered her face and sobbed softly. “I was only doing it for the good of this household, what did I do wrong? Besides, I didn’t even say anything bad…”

Lin Wan, who had already arrived at the Armed Forces Department guesthouse, had absolutely no idea that her mother had just created a massive storm back at home.

Checking into a room! Something she had never done in her past life, yet she was doing it in this life. Her heart felt a little anxious, but she also felt a tiny wave of excitement.

Huo Xiao led her to the front desk. “Comrade, please open a room for me.”

The clerk at the front desk shook her head. “I’m sorry, Regiment Commander Huo. There are no vacancies left tonight.”

Huo Xiao hesitated for a brief instant. He turned an inquiring gaze toward Lin Wan.

Switching guesthouses at this hour was completely unrealistic; besides, Lin Wan didn’t possess a travel certificate, so she wouldn’t be able to open a room by herself.

Pinned under the clerk’s scanning gaze, Lin Wan’s face burned crimson as she nodded gently.

Only then did Huo Xiao display their marriage certificate for the clerk to see. “Comrade, then please trouble yourself to register my wife. She will be staying with me tonight.”

“Regiment Commander Huo is married! Oh, and the certificate was registered just today—congratulations to the two of you!”

“Wishing you a blissful marriage and mutual progress together!”

Lin Wan quickly expressed her thanks, “Thank you! Have some wedding candy!” She scooped a handful of candies out from her canvas satchel and presented them to the two female clerks at the front desk.

The two accepted the candies. One expressed her thanks with a radiant smile, while the other pulled a thoroughly foul expression.

Lin Wan arched an eyebrow. Does this girl fancy Huo Xiao? Too bad. It is destined to yield no result. This man belongs to me right now on a legal level!

She followed Huo Xiao up to the third floor.

“Regiment Commander Huo, you’re back! Perfect, I’ve already fetched the boiled water for you.”

Du Guoqiang strode rapidly toward Huo Xiao with a smile, swinging two thermos flasks in his hands. The moment Lin Wan popped out from behind Huo Xiao’s back, he was so startled he nearly dropped the flasks right then and there.

“Holy crap! The venomous gir—”

“Comrade Lin Wan, this is Comrade Du Guoqiang, my orderly.”

“Comrade Du Guoqiang, Comrade Lin Wan is my wife. We registered our marriage certificate today!” Huo Xiao cast a freezing glare at him.

Du Guoqiang was completely dumbfounded upon hearing this. What the hell? He comprehended every single word the regiment commander spoke, but why couldn’t he understand them when they were put together!

“Address her as Sister-in-law.”

Du Guoqiang: “Sis… Sister… in-law!”

The sky has fallen!!! Good lord, someone please save me!

Lin Wan’s face was piled with a massive smile. “Hello, please have some wedding candy!” She reached into her bag to fetch the candy, but her hand was firmly pressed down by Huo Xiao.

“No need to give him any, he doesn’t like eating candy.” He then spoke to the completely stupefied Du Guoqiang, “Go down to the courtyard downstairs and complete five sets of intensive training drills.”

One set consisted of a one-kilometer run, a hundred squats, a hundred push-ups… After finishing five sets, he could completely forget about getting any sleep tonight.

Du Guoqiang wanted to cry. Sob, sob, sob… How could a celestial being like Regiment Commander Huo fail to withstand the bewitchment of a vixen too!!!

Right now, Du Guoqiang wanted to slap his own mouth until it swelled up. Serves you right for talking too fast, serves you right for gossiping right in front of the regiment commander. Whimper whimper, no wonder the regiment commander punished him the previous two times—turns out he was just demanding justice for his wife!

“You’re quite strict with your subordinate!” Lin Wan chatted with Huo Xiao as she watched Du Guoqiang’s retreating back head downstairs.

Huo Xiao used the key to unlock the door, bringing both thermos flasks inside the room along the way. “The soldiers under my command must be the most exceptional.”

He gave the lamp cord a light tug, and the light inside the room flickered to life. However, the wattage was quite low, casting a dim, amber glow.

Huo Xiao was simply too tall, his head coming incredibly close to the hanging lightbulb. The light spilled right down from the top of his head, coating his cool, detached aura with a layer of warmth.

The room featured two single beds.

Huo Xiao walked over to the bed closest to the door. Unbuttoning his shirt, he tossed it casually onto a chair. As he removed the shirt, his white tank top was pulled up along with it, slipping out from the waistband of his trousers. For a brief instant, a sleek section of his lower back was revealed.

Lin Wan caught a fleeting glimpse of a well-defined Apollo’s belt. His arm muscles were perfectly proportioned—the type of lean muscle that was exactly right, neither overly exaggerated nor overly thin. The definition looked firm, long, and powerful.

Lin Wan swallowed her spit, thinking lustfully: Those arms. They are perfect for wrapping around her waist. They are also perfect for pinning her arms high above her head against the wall for a proper wall-slam.

Huo Xiao lifted his wrist to check his watch. “The hot water supply hasn’t been shut off yet. Do you want to take a bath?”

Lin Wan: “Ah?”

“Yes!”

Huo Xiao dug through his duffel bag to find his change of clothes, then lifted his eyes to look at Lin Wan. “Did you bring your toiletries?”

Lin Wan nodded subconsciously. She couldn’t help but wonder if he was just like her—did he also want to have a legal sleep tonight?

The explicit kind?

She decisively chose to transmigrate, coming back to life a mere second before she was about to be turned to ash. After receiving a massive compensation payout from her company, Lin Wan sold off all her assets, stockpiled an endless mountain of supplies, and happily skipped off to the sixties.

Except... she had transmigrated into a book! And she was the villainous supporting female character who shared her exact name! Her ultimate fate was utterly miserable. (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻

Transmigrate just to whitewash a villainous supporting character? Not a chance! Good women sacrifice their entire lives, while bad women enjoy theirs! Lin Wan rolled up her sleeves to fight and snatch what she wanted! She wasn't fighting over a man; she was fighting for her own dignity!

Yet, her white-lotus stepsister insisted on tearfully offering up her own boyfriend. Lin Wan told her to take her man and get lost: "My man's name is Huo Xiao. He's tall, got legs for days, is highly capable, and incredibly handsome!"

Her white-lotus stepsister didn't believe it. There was no way her wicked stepsister could find a man better than her own boyfriend! Her boyfriend believed it even less—Huo Xiao wasn't blind, so there was no way he would ever look at a vicious woman like Lin Wan!
