Chapter 320: Su He Held Out Both Hands
Su He burst into a giggle!
“Isn’t that a coincidence?! The enterprise I belong to can process hair ornaments and brooches. Look, I even have a few samples here.”
As Su He spoke, she pulled several hair ornaments out of her briefcase.
“Although these aren’t inlaid with pearls, I can design them according to your requirements, as I am a designer myself.
“As for the brooches, although we don’t have this project right now, we have an affiliated machinery factory. Once the main components are produced, the remaining parts can all be completed manually, guaranteeing your satisfaction.”
This time, Jim actually sat down, picked up the hair ornaments, and examined them.
After a while, he shook his head. “Su, although these hair ornaments of yours are very beautiful, they aren’t the style I’m looking for.
“I want that sense of being relatively ornate.
“Besides, you don’t even have a brooch production line right now; I truly have no way to cooperate with you.”
Su He was not discouraged either. “Mr. Jim, then let me design a few patterns for you on the spot. Perhaps you will change your mind.”
As Su He spoke, she picked up a pen and began sketching and doodling in her little notebook.
At first, Jim didn’t pay much attention, feeling that the young girl before him was just engaging in a futile exercise.
However, very quickly, his eyes went wide!
Because the patterns on the paper were even better-looking than he had anticipated!
And they were styles he had never seen before in Country M!
At this moment, the System Broker was “standing” right on the top of her head, displaying the patterns it had helped Su He search for on the light screen.
Jokes aside, these were searched out by it through precise calculations—they simultaneously fit the current aesthetics while staying just a tiny bit ahead of the curve. If it couldn’t take down this so-called Jim, it would be unworthy of being called the IQ representative of the system world!
Su He kept observing Jim’s expressions while drawing. Realizing that the fish had taken the bait, she stopped drawing.
“Mr. Jim, I can design many more kinds of similar patterns. But since this is our first time cooperating, you likely won’t be ordering too many, so I feel these few are sufficient.”
Jim smiled. “If you can produce the products you’ve designed with guaranteed quality and quantity, and at a reasonable price, I can consider ordering a larger amount!
“However, I must first conduct an inspection at the Canton Fair before making a final decision.”
Su He nodded. “Mr. Jim, that is my intention as well.
“We are unable to provide samples right now, so you naturally have concerns.
“Once we get off the train, I will arrange for people to rush to produce samples, and I’ll strive to bring them over for your perusal before the Canton Fair ends. If you are satisfied, we will then sign the order.
“However, our production capacity is limited. If we receive a large number of existing hair ornament orders before then, we might not necessarily be able to accept orders for pearl hair ornaments and pearl brooches.”
Jim frowned. “Su, are you threatening me? Are you trying to force me to sign a pre-order contract with you right now? I’ve already seen the patterns; I could easily return to my country and find people to process them on my behalf.”
Su He laughed.
“Mr. Jim, first of all, this is not a threat, merely a negotiating tactic. You are a businessman yourself, so you should understand this perfectly well.
“Secondly, you can indeed return to your country and find others to process them. But you will have to pay higher costs, and you will further have to bear the infamy of plagiarizing someone else’s design patterns.
“Lastly, and this is the most important point: as a successful businessman, you naturally know the difference between earning money once and earning money many times.
“Fashion trends change at any time; these few patterns might be outdated by next year.
“But an excellent designer can follow trends at any time, constantly designing works that align with market winds.
“I am urging you to sign the order now simply because I wish to conclude our cooperation as early as possible and realize a win-win situation for both parties. You can think it over carefully; I’ll go talk with the others first.”
Jim stared at Su He. “How many more patterns like this can you design?”
Su He held out both of her hands.
“Ten?”
Su He curved her lips slightly. “No, I mean you can’t count them with just one pair of hands.”
Jim: “…”
Didn’t they say the Chinese people are very reserved?
“I need time to consider.”
Su He said with a beaming smile, “Then you think it over carefully, while I continue talking to the other foreign guests.”
After Jim left, Su He continued her negotiations with the other foreign guests.
Although the items required by some foreign guests fell outside their scope, Su He recorded everything in detail and chatted happily with the other parties.
Her principle was to rake in whatever she could to the units she held side jobs for; as long as they shared a connection, they couldn’t hope to escape!
Unfortunately, this foreign delegation only consisted of thirty-some people. Aside from that Jim, who was a fish in her pond, the others were all wild fish.
Among these wild fish, ten fell within the scope of products covered by the Beiliao Province and Jingbei Province exhibition delegations.
Specifically, these involved units dealing in steel, glass, salted wild vegetables, and so forth. Salted wild vegetables were the primary product of the Chucheng Food Factory, and that Wu Li, who had cursed Principal Chen and the others, was from that very factory!
Heh, an old demon, is it?
Watch me whip up a demon-stirring gale for you!
It was already noon by the time Su He finished her talks.
Ji Tong then said, “Little Su, finish your lunch before going back!”
Su He didn’t act affected either. She picked up a meal tray, piled on several food items, and sat directly across from Ji Tong.
Ji Tong lamented, “Little Su, you must be exhausted, right? In reality, there’s no need to rush like this. I listened in on your chats with them; the target clients are only those few people.
“Furthermore, they are all highly picky, holding onto the mindset of ‘comparing goods among three sellers,’ so you might not necessarily clinch an order.”
Su He said with a smile, “Team Leader Ji, I understand everything you said. I simply feel that opportunities are rare, so I want to exert my utmost effort to facilitate these orders.
“I don’t fear you laughing at me, but ever since my grandfather heard that straw weaving could export and earn foreign exchange, he has been weaving straw hats day and night.
“My grandmother has a disability in her leg, yet hearing that hair ornaments could earn foreign exchange, she stays lying on the kang every day making hair ornaments…”
As Su He spoke to this point, tears shimmered in her eyes. “And then there are the four old comrades of our An County Joint Exhibition Delegation. They could have stayed securely waiting for retirement, yet here they are now,辛苦ing and rushing about.
“If they are all working this hard, what reason do I have to cry about hardship or exhaustion?
“I’m just thinking that if I can secure a few more orders—even if it’s not for a factory where I hold a side job, as long as it’s a factory of our China, I will be happy!
“The people from the Chucheng Food Factory of Jingbei Province cursed the four old comrades of our An County Joint Exhibition Delegation as ‘Tang Sanzang and three old demons’ earlier. Yet in the face of national righteousness, I wouldn’t consider any of that; I would still provide them with the opportunity to communicate with the foreign guests…”
Ji Tong nodded continuously. Comrade Little Su’s ideological awareness was far too high!
There were far too few outstanding young people like her!
By contrast, what sort of trash was that Chucheng Food Factory?! Far too inferior!
Su He finished dropping her “eye drops” (slander) and had basically finished her lunch as well, strolling casually out of the soft-sleeper carriage.
Throughout this process, she didn’t interact with Jim, nor did she even cast a single glance in his direction.
On the other side, the people in the sleeper carriage were also discussing Su He.
The Beiliao Province side felt anxious, while the Jingbei Province side was mostly curious, with a portion harboring schadenfreude.
Wu Li from the Chucheng Food Factory curled his lip. “I just knew that Su He wouldn’t have a good ending. Look, didn’t she invite trouble upon herself?! Matters involving foreign guests must be handled secretly. Once they reach Guangzhou, she’ll bound to be locked up straight away!”
Section Chief Jin from their factory happened to overhear these words. However, he didn’t stop him; as long as the people from Beiliao Province didn’t overhear, it was fine.
That Su He was truly far too ostentatious!
The gun hits the bird that sticks its head out; she’ll bound to meet with bad luck sooner or later!
