Chapter 250: A Tool Person for Signing and Stamping
The Exchange System flickered with garbled code for quite a while, then shut down in sulking silence.
Fine, I won’t tell you. I’ll suffocate you with curiosity!
Little did it know, Su He didn’t care at all. She was busy thinking—next time she met Rich Fish, could she finally hold his hand?
…On second thought, Rich Fish was way too innocent. Better rein it in a bit, or she might scare him off.
The next morning, Su He and the other two arrived at the compound.
Before they split up, Principal Chen reminded Director Tian, “Little Su is still young—she can be impulsive at times. Keep an eye on her.”
Director Tian tossed his head. “Old Chen, relax! With me around, nothing will happen! Besides, we’re just going in to sign a contract—it’ll take no time at all.”
Thinking it over, Principal Chen agreed and said no more, watching the two of them enter the compound.
The moment Director Tian stepped inside, he was like Granny Liu visiting the Grand View Garden. If not for fear of breaking the rules, he would’ve spun his head around like radar, scanning everything.
They were led to Director Jing’s office.
Director Jing was very welcoming. After shaking hands, he invited them to sit.
Director Tian plopped down in his chair, then caught sight of Su He’s posture and quickly imitated her.
No wonder this girl is so sharp, he thought. Usually she slouches like she’s boneless, but now she looks perfectly proper.
From that small detail, Director Jing guessed quite a bit—Su He clearly held significant influence in An County Food Factory.
So most of the conversation was directed at her.
Director Tian felt a bit sour but didn’t dare voice any objections.
When the discussion was nearly finished, Director Jing handed over a purchase contract.
The compound used a standardized template, so Su He raised no objections and signaled Director Tian to sign and stamp it.
Director Tian: “…So I’m just a tool for signing and stamping?”
After signing, Su He was about to take her leave when a loud voice came from outside:
“Old Jing, Chief Gu is looking for you!”
Before the words even finished, Director Zhang barged in.
The moment he saw Su He, he broke into a wide grin.
“Little Su, you’re here! Did you bring samples this time? Ever since I finished those instant noodles last time, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them!”
Director Jing shot him a glare, thinking, Look at you! One free sample and now you expect more every time?!
Then Director Tian pulled two packs of instant noodles out of his briefcase.
He had already formed a habit—whenever he went out, instant noodles came along.
Director Zhang’s appetite flared instantly!
He said to Director Jing, “You go see Chief Gu. I’ll chat with them for a bit. Didn’t eat enough this morning anyway—I’ll make myself some noodles.”
Director Jing was speechless, but with guests present, he couldn’t say much.
Su He, being perceptive, immediately stood to leave.
Before Director Jing could respond, Director Zhang waved her down. “Little Su, what’s the rush? Sit and chat for a while. After I finish eating, I’ll see you out!”
Knowing his straightforward personality, Su He stayed.
As for Director Tian—the “tool person”—he naturally followed Su He’s lead.
After Director Jing left, Director Zhang busied himself preparing the noodles.
Of course, Su He wouldn’t let him do it alone—she helped cook them.
As Director Zhang slurped noodles noisily, he chatted with Su He. Director Tian chimed in occasionally, and the atmosphere was quite pleasant.
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
“Zhang Dahu, you’re at it again!
Breakfast hours are over, and you’re still sneaking extra meals!
By the way, have you finished writing the compound regulations the Chief assigned you?”
The door was already half-open, and with that, it was pushed wider.
A man in his forties entered, wearing glasses.
His gaze swept over Director Tian and Su He. When it passed over Su He, his brow furrowed slightly.
Zhang Dahu slurped a mouthful of noodles and glanced at him. “Bai Dongliang, stop putting on airs. Am I sneaking food? I’m testing samples!
This concerns the compound’s food reserves—I’m sacrificing myself to test them! Even Chief Gu and the Chief would praise me for it!”
Su He suppressed a laugh. She hadn’t expected this seemingly rough man to have such clever excuses.
Bai Dongliang’s expression darkened. “Zhang Dahu, stop making excuses. You know exactly what you’re doing.
And watch your conduct. Don’t joke around with improper women—it’ll damage the compound’s atmosphere.”
As he said this, his eyes flicked toward Su He.
Zhang Dahu’s face immediately darkened.
“Bai Four-Eyes, what nonsense are you spouting?! Say what you want about me, but don’t drag others into it! Apologize to Little Su right now, or I won’t let you off today!”
Tall and broad to begin with, Zhang Dahu now looked downright menacing.
Bai Dongliang instinctively stepped back. “Zhang… Zhang Dahu, what are you doing?! If you lay a hand on me, you’ll be expelled from the compound!”
Zhang Dahu cracked his knuckles. “Bai Four-Eyes, I’ve long had it with you! Just because you’ve got a bit of education, you think you’re something! Always nitpicking me—I’ll make you bleed today!”
He wasn’t exaggerating. The two had never gotten along—not due to principles, just mutual dislike.
On top of that, Bai Dongliang often badmouthed Zhang Dahu in front of the Chief. Zhang Dahu had been itching to teach him a lesson for a long time.
Su He naturally couldn’t let them fight. If Zhang Dahu got punished, the instant noodle deal might fall through too.
She smiled. “Director Zhang, hold on. Let me have a word with Comrade Bai.”
Zhang Dahu gave her face, snorted, and sat back down.
Su He turned to Bai Dongliang with a smile. “Comrade Bai, this is our first time meeting, right?”
He shot her a sideways glance. “Yes.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Then I’m curious—why are you calling me improper?”
Bai Dongliang sneered. “I’ve seen plenty like you.
Relying on looks, dressing flamboyantly, using shady methods to get what you want.
Otherwise, at your age, what qualifications do you have to come here and discuss business?”
Zhang Dahu snapped his chopsticks in half from anger.
“Bai Four-Eyes, what kind of crap are you spewing?! You’re asking for it!”
Director Tian was equally furious. If they weren’t in the compound, he would’ve punched Bai Dongliang already.
Su He, however, remained calm. “Comrade Bai, I assume you’ve been deceived by a pretty woman before?
Probably even cheated on.
That’s why you’re biased against all good-looking women.
People like you… how should I put it? A cowardly, insecure, pitiful creature.
Your past has blinded you—heart and all.
You keep accusing Director Zhang of violating rules, but someone like you—who disrespects women and slaps labels on people—is the real troublemaker.
Director Zhang, please take me to meet the leadership. I’d like the Chief to judge—what punishment should someone like Comrade Bai receive for damaging relations between the military and civilians…”
