Chapter 81: Gossip — The School Belle’s Physiognomy
When Bao Chen came back from the infirmary, his fairly decent-looking face now had a few band-aids on it. The corner of his mouth was swollen too, and with antiseptic dabbed on, he looked pretty miserable.
It was said that the bunch beat him up and then ran off. They were all unfamiliar faces—Bao Chen didn’t recognize a single one of them.
Bao Chen sat down in a huff, grimacing and hissing in pain. “Damn it—this wasn’t even me snitching!”
Su Keke muttered quietly, “Maybe it wasn’t you who reported it, but the news came out of your mouth. I already warned you—watch what you say. Trouble comes from the tongue.”
Bao Chen heard that and suddenly remembered something. He sharply turned his head to look at her. “Student Su Keke, you told me earlier not to walk alone today—don’t tell me you already knew someone was going to gang up on me?”
Su Keke smiled faintly and pointed at the space between her brows. “I didn’t know anyone would gang up on you. I just noticed your yintang looked dark—meaning you were bound to have a bloodshed mishap within the day.”
Bao Chen wore an indescribable expression. Clearly, he didn’t believe her. “Whatever the reason, thanks anyway. Even though I didn’t avoid it, I’ll remember this favor.”
Su Keke: “…You’re welcome.”
These days, even when you tell the truth, nobody believes you. She really had no choice.
The matter between the school belle Jiang Fangfei and Xu Hao spread from one person to ten, and eventually reached Jiang Yueyue’s ears.
When she heard the news, she looked utterly shocked and refused to believe it.
“Impossible! Stop talking nonsense!”
“How is it nonsense? Bao Chen saw the two of them kissing.”
Jiang Yueyue’s deskmate asked in a low voice, “Hey, Yueyue, why are you reacting so strongly? Xu Hao’s grades are only so-so, but his family is rich. Maybe one day he’ll inherit the Xu family business. That’s the Xu family—one of the four great elite clans in the capital. If your sister can marry into that family, shouldn’t you be happy? Hehe, if I could marry in, I’d laugh myself awake even in my dreams.”
“But it’s also weird. You never see them hanging out usually—how did they suddenly get together?” the deskmate muttered.
Jiang Yueyue clenched the notebook in her hands—so tight, so tight—she almost bit through her lower lip.
Xu Hao was clearly her boyfriend!
The school was fairly open-minded and didn’t strictly forbid dating, but it did forbid intimate behavior on campus. She herself also worried it would affect both their studies and daily life, so she had kept it secret.
How could it be that in the blink of an eye, Brother Xu Hao was tangled up with Jiang Fangfei?
She had brought Jiang Fangfei to meet Xu Hao—only three times in total.
Jiang Yueyue suddenly collapsed onto the desk and burst into sobs.
She had to demand an explanation from Jiang Fangfei and Xu Hao.
No one knew how Jiang Fangfei explained it to her, but by afternoon, Jiang Yueyue’s mood wasn’t as terrible anymore. She even told the people around her that the one with her sister wasn’t Xu Hao—someone had mistaken him for another person.
The way Jiang Yueyue tried so hard to explain made Qin Xing roll her eyes.
While chatting with Su Keke, she sighed again: Jiang Yueyue really was stupid.
Su Keke thought for a moment and said, “She’s just competitive. Deep down, she’s not bad.”
“Keke, how can you stand on the enemy’s side? Think about how she mocked you that day.”
Su Keke gave an “oh” and quickly admitted her mistake. “I’m definitely, absolutely standing on our side.”
“That’s more like it. But if I had to choose between Jiang Yueyue and Jiang Fangfei as an enemy, I’d rather pick someone like Jiang Yueyue. At least I can see clearly what she’s trying to do. Not like certain people—heh. Just looking at that ‘delicate willow in the wind’ act of hers annoys me.”
As Qin Xing said this, a girl with long hair draped over her shoulders happened to walk out of the girls’ restroom. Laughing and chatting with another girl, she passed right by them.
If you only talked about looks, this girl actually couldn’t compare to Qin Xing. Even Luo Man, with a bit of effort in her appearance, wouldn’t be worse than her. But the girl’s faint smile gave people a feeling of cleanliness and sweetness. Add her black, shoulder-length hair, and she was the exact “national first-love” type.
However, after Su Keke took one look at her face, she had no desire to interact with her.
Beside her, Qin Xing had already rolled her eyes dramatically and sneered. “Keke, do you know why Luo Man’s grades are so good, but she’s in Class Three? Back then, someone’s mom privately approached Luo Man—gave her a sum of money, and then used status and power to pressure her. Under threats and inducements, Luo Man voluntarily gave up her spot in Class One. After she came out, Jiang Fangfei—who, by her grades, shouldn’t even have qualified for Class Three—got in.”
When Qin Xing got here, she pursed her lips. “Forget it. Manman herself didn’t even take it seriously, so I won’t bring it up. Anyway, the other side has money—no reason not to take it. Manman can study anywhere, it’s the same. She’s still ranked number one in the whole school.”
Su Keke nodded, agreeing.
“Da Xing, I don’t really like Jiang Fangfei’s face reading.”
Qin Xing immediately perked up. “How so?”
“Her nose has three bends, though they aren’t very obvious. In physiognomy, the nose is the ‘judge’—if the nose is straight and proper, tall and firm, with a round tip that doesn’t turn up, that’s a top-grade nose. People like that are upright, do things openly and honorably, and have good wealth luck too. Hehe—for example, like my uncle.”
Qin Xing complained in her heart: Why don’t I feel like my Fourth Uncle is that great?
“But if the bridge of the nose arches outward, thin and lacking flesh, with the front of the tip drooping and hooking inward, sharp like an eagle’s beak—that’s called an aquiline nose. Jiang Fangfei has that kind. Still, I rarely see girls with an aquiline nose. The ones recorded in books and the ones I’ve seen were mostly men.
“People born with an aquiline nose are often cunning, sinister, emotionally cold, and hypocritical. They calculate everything to the finest detail, will stop at nothing to reach their goals, and their desire for revenge is also very strong.”
The moment Qin Xing heard that, she blurted, “Damn—Keke, you really nailed it. From what I’ve seen, Jiang Fangfei is exactly that kind of person!”
But Su Keke shook her head. “Da Xing, I’m not finished yet. Everything has two sides. What I said just now was only the darker side. People with an aquiline nose may have a gloomy temperament, but if they manage their emotions well, they aren’t necessarily bad people.
“They also have many strengths—like being rational in handling matters, good at lying low and biding their time, and having extremely high leadership ability. Later on, don’t assume someone is a bad person the moment you see this kind of nose. They’d be wronged to death.”
Qin Xing stared at Jiang Fangfei’s back as she walked away and snorted. “I don’t care. Jiang Fangfei is definitely the first type—no doubt about it. All negative, no positive.”
Su Keke didn’t know how to refute her, so she continued analyzing. “People with an aquiline nose tend to look unapproachable. But Jiang Fangfei happens to have a pair of pretty almond-shaped eyes, which balances out the harsh, sharp feeling that the aquiline nose gives.”
Qin Xing gave a cold laugh. “Heh, yeah, yeah—those round, watery almond eyes of hers make all the boys think she’s innocent and pure.”
After saying that, Qin Xing looked straight into Su Keke’s eyes. “Keke, your eyes are the truly pretty ones—clean and clear. Just looking at them makes you seem pure and sweet, adorably naive. You’re genuinely cute, genuinely tender—so pure and lovable. Not like someone else, who’s just putting on an act.”
Qin Xing couldn’t hide the disgust in her eyes.
