Chapter 73: Uncle, I’ve Been Bullied
Wu Zongbai snapped back to his senses and quickly found some wet wipes to help Su Keke wipe her face.
When Qin Junchi saw clearly who had splashed the wine, he immediately roared at her, “Huang Yueshan, what madness are you throwing this time? Apologize—apologize right now!”
The young woman called Huang Yueshan jutted out her neck stubbornly. “Me, apologize to her? Why should I? This is exactly what she deserves! Does she not know what kind of occasion this is? Flirting with men in public like that! I’ve seen plenty of sparrows trying to fly up and become phoenixes, but I’ve never seen one this shameless.”
Ever since Qin Junchi entered the venue, his gaze had never once landed on her. Even when she greeted his uncle and aunt, he pretended not to see her.
He ignored her completely, yet chatted and laughed with other women. And now it was even worse—he was actually pulling and tugging at some lowly woman like this.
The more Huang Yueshan thought about it, the more wronged she felt. “Do you know how those women were mocking me behind my back just now? They were laughing at me for not being able to keep a man’s heart. Brother Junchi, you can’t treat me like this!”
She stepped forward, trying to grab his arm, but Qin Junchi shoved her away.
“Huang Yueshan, that’s enough!” His face was livid. “You can fool around on normal days if you want, but what kind of occasion is this? What you just did—how is that any different from a shrew throwing a tantrum?”
Qin Junchi was usually a gentleman with women, but Huang Yueshan had never been one of them.
“I told you to apologize. Did you hear me?”
Huang Yueshan looked at him with grievance written all over her face. “You’re yelling at me for the sake of some wild woman? You know perfectly well what kind of occasion this is, yet you’re still being all lovey-dovey and touchy-feely with her?”
Su Keke, who was busy wiping her little face with a wet wipe, felt extremely aggrieved. Lovey-dovey? It was clearly Qin Junchi who had ignored her wishes and insisted on dragging her outside.
As Huang Yueshan spoke, her eyes reddened. “If you want to go out and fool around, fine—but what kind of place is this? Don’t I need to save face? I can’t bear to blame you, so I can only teach these shameless women a lesson. I did nothing wrong!”
Wu Zongbai frowned. “Miss Huang, please mind your words.”
This was supposed to be a socialite of the imperial capital, yet her language was getting uglier by the second.
“Assistant Wu? You’re even helping this woman speak now?”
Huang Yueshan looked at Su Keke with disdain and hatred. “I really underestimated you—so you even managed to hook Assistant Wu by Lord Qin’s side.”
Wu Zongbai’s face turned green.
Just how filthy did her mind have to be to think there was something between him and the little cutie? Su Keke could be his daughter.
“Huang Yueshan!” Qin Junchi’s anger flared uncontrollably.
This corner of the hall was fairly secluded, but the argument was loud enough that people nearby were already looking over.
Su Keke noticed those gazes and felt deeply uncomfortable.
She had wiped the wine off her face, but in doing so had also ruined the carefully done “bodyguard” makeup Uncle had arranged for her. She was already upset, and hearing words like “wild woman” and “seducing” made her even angrier.
“You’re the wild woman who came out of nowhere! I don’t even know you—why did you splash wine on me the moment you arrived? You’re a shrew!” Su Keke glared at her.
Even her master was reluctant to scold her—who was this woman to bully her?
“Brother Junchi, listen to her! It’s fine if you just play around with these women, but now they’re riding over my head and acting all high and mighty. Are you really going to let them humiliate me like this? I’m your fiancée!”
Qin Junchi laughed in anger. “Huang Yueshan, since when did you become my fiancée? Why don’t I know about that? Just because your mom and my mom joked about a childhood engagement when we were kids, you took it seriously? You’re a proper socialite of the capital—why make things this ugly?”
Huang Yueshan’s eyes turned red at his heartless words, and she shot Su Keke a venomous glare.
Su Keke: “…”
“You shameless slut! You’re the one who caused Brother Junchi and me to fight!”
Su Keke rubbed her face, barely maintaining a strained smile, and stared at her.
“Your face shape is triangular, with a wide forehead and a narrow chin—you lack a sense of responsibility. Even though you’ve drawn your eyebrows, the ends are still sparse. Disordered brows reflect a disordered heart—you’re easily ruled by emotion. Once struck by a setback, you become hysterical, often quarreling over trivial matters.
“But today is Old Master Xu’s birthday banquet. I think you should restrain yourself a bit and not ruin the elder’s celebration.”
Huang Yueshan flew into a rage and lunged forward, swinging her hand to slap her.
Su Keke dodged swiftly.
The smile she had just forced onto her little blotchy, wine-soaked face vanished at once, her cheeks puffing up in anger.
How could someone be this unreasonable—resorting to violence when words failed?
Her master was right: sometimes people were even more unreasonable than ghosts!
Qin Junchi grabbed Huang Yueshan’s arm and shoved her aside. He didn’t control his strength well, and she fell to the ground.
He froze for a moment but didn’t help her up, shouting angrily, “Huang Yueshan, you actually tried to hit someone? Have you had enough? Let me make this clear today—if you want me, Qin Junchi, to marry you, it’ll only happen over my dead body!”
The commotion attracted more and more onlookers. Elders from the Huang family, as well as Qin Junchi’s parents, rushed over.
Qin Junchi grabbed Su Keke and ran.
From behind, faintly came the woman’s suppressed sobs and the elders’ words of consolation.
Qin Junchi’s father, Qin Tianhao, shouted after him angrily, “You little bastard, Qin Junchi! Just wait till you get home—I’ll deal with you then!”
Before being dragged away, Su Keke looked back at the hall.
In the magnificent ballroom, under dazzling crystal chandeliers, men in suits and women in gowns, adorned with jewels, glasses clinking—rows of unfamiliar faces stared at her, pointing and whispering.
“Who is that woman? Tsk tsk, seducing men at an event like this…”
“She’s so young—girls these days really know how to entice men, huh.”
“The Qin family produces so many outstanding talents—how did they end up with such a useless Qin Junchi, causing a scene over a woman…”
…
Physiognomy reflects the heart, so Su Keke loved observing faces to judge people’s character. But at this moment, looking at those unfamiliar faces, she suddenly felt dizzy and tight in the chest.
Uncle wasn’t here.
These people all felt so unfamiliar.
An unfamiliar environment, unfamiliar people, and malicious gazes…
After stuffing her into the car, Qin Junchi stepped on the accelerator and drove away.
Su Keke rubbed her sore eyes, took out her phone, and sent Qin Mochen a message.
Uncle, why are you still chatting with people? It’s been so long already.
You promised to send me a safety text every few minutes—you liar!
After a while, she typed one last line:
Uncle, o(╥﹏╥)o I just got bullied.
