Chapter 47: Not the Prettiest Way to Eat—but Adorably So
Boys’ friendships are forged through eating, drinking, roughhousing, and fooling around, while girls’ friendships are built through giggles and endless chatting.
By the afternoon, Qin Xing, Luo Man, and the little mystic Su Keke had practically become the kind of close friends who could even go to the restroom together.
Zhao Kexin felt like she’d missed the drama of the year.
“Qin Xing, did I see that right just now? I was gone for one noon break, and all this happened? You actually came back with Su Keke and Luo Man! Weren’t you always annoyed by her?” Zhao Kexin asked in shock.
“Who told you I was annoyed by her? That’s your own misunderstanding—don’t pin it on me,” Qin Xing said, then hurriedly added, “And from now on, you’re not allowed to give her attitude, got it?”
Zhao Kexin felt more wronged than Dou E. “Brother Xing, if it weren’t for you, do you think I’d ignore her? I actually really admire her.”
Her family was well-off too, but compared to Qin Xing’s or Jiang Yueyue’s, it was nothing. She couldn’t just mess around after getting in—she had to study and couldn’t waste the money her mom had poured in. Regardless of Luo Man’s personality, her academic ability alone was enough to earn Zhao Kexin’s respect.
Once Zhao Kexin joined, the trio quickly became the Four Golden Flowers, going everywhere together.
After three afternoon classes plus the final self-study period, school let out at 6:30 p.m. Evening self-study wasn’t mandatory—many students came from wealthy families and preferred private one-on-one tutoring outside.
Before 6:30, plenty of luxury cars were already parked outside the east and west gates.
Zhao Kexin stayed on campus to study for the next few days, having dinner with Luo Man in the cafeteria to bond. Afterward, they naturally remained at school for evening self-study. Su Keke and Qin Xing, meanwhile, walked out of the school gate arm in arm.
Qin Xing clicked her tongue at the rows of luxury cars. “People who don’t know better would think it’s a car show. To them, cars are like face—more important than substance. But honestly, it’s really not necessary. Taking the subway is way more convenient—”
Mid-complaint, Qin Xing suddenly saw something. Her expression changed abruptly, and her words cut off.
“Su Keke, I’m heading off! See you tomorrow!” Qin Xing bolted, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
Not long after she left, Su Keke heard someone calling her—addressing her as Miss Su.
She turned around and brightened with delight. “Assistant Wu!”
“Miss Su, please get in the car. Fourth Master is waiting for you inside,” Wu Zongbo added helpfully. “Quite a few people here recognize Fourth Master. It wouldn’t be convenient for him to get out.”
Assistant Wu was driving his own car, relatively low-key, so it didn’t draw attention. Su Keke quickly climbed in and immediately saw her uncle sitting inside like an imposing deity.
She grinned right away.
Qin Mochen caught her arm and pulled her in. “What are you grinning like that for? Sit properly.”
“Uncle, when did you get here? Why didn’t you tell me in advance? If I’d known, I wouldn’t have dawdled—I’d have run straight over as soon as school ended.”
Wu Zongbo couldn’t help but chuckle quietly up front.
Seeing the little cutie instantly lifted one’s mood—it swept away the day’s work fatigue.
“I came right on time. Didn’t wait long,” Qin Mochen said. After settling her in place, he withdrew his hand, crossed his long legs, and sat perfectly upright.
“Uncle, let me tell you—this afternoon I made another friend! All four of us in the dorm are good friends now!”
Su Keke beamed as she spoke, happily counting on her fingers. “Qin Xing, Luo Man, and Zhao Kexin. Zhao Kexin even has a ‘Ke’ in her name too!”
Hearing the name Qin Xing, Wu Zongbo nearly slipped on the accelerator.
Qin Xing?
Which Qin Xing?
He remembered Fourth Master’s second niece was called exactly that.
Wu Zongbo sneaked a glance at the rearview mirror. Fourth Master didn’t even blink at the name.
In an instant, Wu Zongbo understood.
When they got home, Aunt Lin had already prepared a lavish dinner. Su Keke couldn’t help herself—she ate two full bowls of rice, praising Aunt Lin’s cooking nonstop. Aunt Lin was so delighted her mouth wouldn’t close.
She’d been cooking for years and was nearly tired of it. Fourth Master was usually silent—no matter how good the food, there was little sense of achievement. Now, seeing Su Keke eat so heartily and praise everything, Aunt Lin’s enthusiasm for cooking was reignited.
Su Keke’s table manners weren’t exactly elegant—especially when contrasted with the refined, aristocratic-prince-like Qin Mochen beside her.
Halfway through the meal, Qin Mochen’s gaze drifted to Su Keke sitting across from him.
The little girl was eating with great relish, cheeks puffing in and out, dimples appearing as she chewed—one deep, one shallow. Under the crystal chandelier of the dining room, her eyes shone brightly, fixed intently on the food, unwilling to look away. Her rosy lips glistened with a thin sheen of oil, moving nonstop like a little squirrel.
Qin Mochen had the urge to correct her eating manners.
But after watching for a long while, he silently swallowed the words.
Sensing his gaze, Su Keke looked up and smiled at him.
“I’m done eating. Let’s go for a walk to digest later,” Qin Mochen said.
After swallowing her mouthful, Su Keke’s eyes curved into crescents. “Okay, Uncle.”
After dinner, the two changed into casual clothes and strolled around the villa complex. It was spacious, with nice scenery.
There was actually a dedicated gym inside the villa, and Qin Mochen usually exercised there instead of going out—it was less trouble.
Just like now, when an old acquaintance—a company executive he’d dealt with before—greeted him.
Everyone who lived here was shrewd. No one would be so annoying as to insist on catching up at this time. Still, the executive’s gaze toward Qin Mochen and Su Keke was subtle and peculiar.
What the executive didn’t know was that Su Keke’s gaze toward him was even more peculiar.
The executive wasn’t alone—there was a young woman beside him.
She was very beautiful, holding a fluffy dog on a leash.
Su Keke had only ever seen village dogs back home and didn’t recognize the breed, but she thought it looked nice—white and fluffy, probably very comfortable to hug.
After the older man and the young woman walked away, Su Keke leaned closer to Qin Mochen’s ear and whispered, “Uncle, that father and daughter just now aren’t decent people. Don’t get too close to them.”
Qin Mochen’s eyes flickered as he looked at her.
Su Keke hurried to explain, “Uncle, I’m really not badmouthing them behind their backs. Apart from the facial features, the face is divided into twelve palaces, which encompass all traits and fortunes. That uncle’s Spouse Palace is bluish—it’s a sign of infidelity. And his daughter’s Tear Hall is dark, which indicates excessive sexual activity.”
Seeing the strange look on her uncle’s face, Su Keke thought he didn’t understand and pointed to the corner of her own eye. “Uncle, here—this spot. The fish-tail area at the corner of the eye is the Spouse Palace.
People who cheat often have a bluish Spouse Palace, sometimes with dark spots or blue-red lines.
As for the Tear Hall, it’s under the eyes—also called the Yin-Yang Palace or Children Palace. It’s usually used to read one’s offspring fortune, but sometimes other things too.
That uncle’s daughter has a raised Tear Hall, indicating strong sexual capability, and since it’s dark now, it means she’s been indulging excessively lately.”
Su Keke said all this as casually as if she were talking about eating and drinking water.
Qin Mochen’s expression, however, became even more… inscrutable.
