Chapter 14: Uncle, You Look So Handsome in Clothes
Assistant Wu glanced at his boss’s powerful, long legs and felt silently heartbroken.
At a standard height of 1.78 meters, he was instantly reduced to a shorty in front of Fourth Master.
A man’s pride had just been mercilessly crushed by his boss. How tragic.
Having already lost in both height and leg length, Assistant Wu didn’t dare dawdle anymore. He pedaled the mountain bike for dear life, chasing after Qin Mochen ahead.
When Su Keke woke up in the morning, the old man was already gone. He had left behind a note—leaving as he pleased, as carefree as ever.
The note read:
Disciple, your master did a divination early this morning and found that an honored guest will arrive. Entertain him well. As for treasure hunting, the earlier the better, so I’m heading out first. Be good and study. When I come back, I’ll test you—if you slack off, I’ll smack your butt with a shoe sole!
Su Keke curled her lips into a smile and muttered, “You say that every time. You can’t bear to hit me at all.”
Seeing a large bundle wrapped in an old tablecloth in the corner, Su Keke’s eyes lit up slightly, and she quickly opened it to take a look.
Inside were several feng shui books she hadn’t finished reading, along with a peachwood sword, Five-Emperor Coins, a thick stack of old yellow talisman paper, and various small feng shui ornaments that had been empowered with the primal energies of heaven and earth. Her master had packed everything for her.
Su Keke chuckled and said to herself, “Master, you really packed up all your worldly possessions for me, didn’t you?”
After locking the little thatched hut, Su Keke slung her small black bag over her back and hoisted the large bundle onto her shoulder, leaving the place where she had grown up.
Although Uncle had said he would come pick her up, the road here was hard to travel. The thatched hut sat halfway up Peach Blossom Mountain, with only a narrow footpath worn by people’s steps—steep and difficult. So she decided to go down the mountain first and wait for Uncle there.
On the rugged mountain path, the little chubby “yellow pepper” had an oversized bundle hanging from her back—a huge, round pack swaying behind her. Paired with her baby-faced, chubby-cheeked bun face, the scene was… rather comical.
Halfway down the path, Su Keke heard footsteps coming from the foot of the mountain.
She slowed her pace and craned her neck to look downward.
Before long, a tall figure came into view. Su Keke first widened her eyes and took a careful look. Once she confirmed who it was, her little face instantly bloomed into a smile, and she shouted at the newcomer, “Uncle!”
Then, carrying both big and small bundles, she dashed toward him at full speed.
Assistant Wu, who had just managed to keep up with Qin Mochen, nearly had a heart attack.
This was a downhill slope! Wasn’t this little girl afraid that the three of them would crash together and roll down the mountain?
Normally, anyone seeing a little girl charging like this would instinctively dodge. Yet Qin Mochen remained expressionless as he opened his arms toward her.
If an expert were watching, they would notice that the angle and curve of his outstretched arms were positioned to maximally reduce the impact of the incoming force.
However, the little chubby pepper rushing down did not crash into Qin Mochen’s embrace.
Just as she was about to rush into his arms, Su Keke stopped on a dime, as if inertia didn’t exist at all.
Qin Mochen paused slightly, his arms frozen midair.
Su Keke tilted her head up to look at him. Even standing on higher ground, the little girl still had to look up at this man.
So tall.
“Uncle, I almost didn’t recognize you. You look so handsome when you’re dressed! And those sunglasses— they suit you so well,” Su Keke blurted out.
That completely honest remark nearly made Assistant Wu choke on his own saliva.
You look handsome when you’re dressed…
So what had she been seeing before—him undressed?
“Oh right, Uncle, how did you get here so quickly?” Su Keke’s little face was flushed from running, and she smiled at him as she spoke.
“I drove here. Didn’t I tell you to wait for me? Why did you come down the mountain first?”
Qin Mochen quietly lowered his left arm. His right arm curved naturally and gently ruffled her hair—just as if that had been his intention all along.
As for opening his arms to hug a child… that was probably just an illusion on everyone else’s part.
