Chapter 98: Outsiders Coming to Snatch His Treasure?
Whether villains die quickly or not, Chi Qian didn’t know.
What she did know was— Not having to walk on her own was pure bliss!
Ostriches can run 60–70 km per hour, covering 8 meters in a single stride. At that speed, sitting on one was like having the wind slap at your face nonstop.
Eventually, the four of them even started racing each other. All along the way, Shen Jiashu’s laughter rang out.
“Qian Qian, there’s a patch of greenery up ahead!” Chi Fengxiao pointed. “We’ll camp there tonight.”
Chi Qian nodded, patting the ostrich’s wing. “Head that way.”
“Gaa-gaa!” As you command!
When they reached the greenery, her ostrich refused to set her down, proudly carrying her around. The other ostriches were practically shooting flames from their eyes.
Chi Qian tugged its feathers. “Put me down, I’m really sleepy.”
Chi Fengxiao: “Didn’t you already sleep all through the plane and car ride?”
Twenty-four hours in a day—she could sleep twenty-five. And still kept saying she was tired. What was she in her past life, the god of sleep?
Chi Qian: “Uncle, you don’t get it. I’ve been thinking hard. And whenever I use my brain, I get super sleepy.”
“What exactly were you thinking about?”
“What we’ll eat tonight.”
“…”
[Chi Fengxiao: So that’s why it hasn’t rained—because you left me speechless.]
[Chi Qian’s love for food and sleep really runs deep.]
[Whose lazy daughter is this? If no one wants her, I’ll happily take her home.]
Chi Qian finally slid off the ostrich and told them to leave, promising to call if needed. The ostriches reluctantly walked away, constantly looking back, unwilling to part.
But they didn’t go far, still wandering within sight.
“Daddy, are those eagles?” Shen Jiashu pointed at the two circling in the sky.
Shen Jing squinted. “Those are booted eagles—rare among birds for their cooperative hunting tactics. Very fierce.”
“So are they treating us as prey?”
“Hard to say. Go watch over Qian Qian. Don’t let her fall asleep and get carried off.”
“On it!”
But the booted eagles didn’t attack. After circling for a while, they flew off.
Chi Fengxiao gathered some dead wood and sparked up a bonfire. Night was falling fast. The wilderness wasn’t safe—wolves howled faintly in the distance.
As Shen Jing boiled water, he suddenly frowned. “Do you hear screaming?”
Chi Fengxiao scanned the distance. “Looks like people are running this way.”
Sure enough, leading the charge were Luo Fan and his brother, followed by Ling Qian and Gu Hua, as well as the Xia sisters. They were sprinting for dear life.
Behind them—a whole pack of wolves in pursuit!
[Just came from Xia Xinyue’s stream. Xia Zhenzhen is insane—Chi Qian got ostriches, so she wanted to ride wolves. She think the desert belongs to her family?!]
[Why drag down my Luo brothers and poor Zichuan too??]
[Ling Qian still shielding Hua Hua even in crisis—my Flower Money CP is killing me!]
[Wait, Luo Fan’s running toward Sister Qian?? What’s that supposed to mean??]
[Since Chi Qian is the Forest Princess, doesn’t she have the duty to save them? Otherwise what’s the point of her title??]
[Yeah exactly, she should just drop one big dump on their heads—that’d really show her generosity.]
By then Chi Qian was awake, sitting by the fire, munching on dates and dragon fruit the ostriches had fetched her.
When the delivery-bird ostriches noticed people approaching, they immediately stepped up to block.
Luo Fan tried to move right—they moved right.
He shifted left—they shifted left.
Staring at the two towering, two-meter ostriches, Luo Fan’s mouth twitched.
No gates here, yet to pass through he had to get permission from… ostriches.
What kind of cursed logic was this?
“Chi Fengxiao, Chi Qian, we ran into some trouble. Can you let us in?” Luo Fan finally asked, gritting his teeth.
Chi Fengxiao: “Zichuan can come in.”
Luo Fan opened his mouth to protest, but before he could, Luo Zichuan had already bolted into the enemy camp without hesitation.
…Shameless!
The wolf pack reached the clearing—but the “gatekeeper” ostriches scared them off. As soon as the ostriches charged, the wolves tucked their tails and fled, chased until they vanished into the night.
The two groups collapsed on the ground, panting for breath, dignity be damned.
Xia Xinyue staggered over to Chi Fengxiao with a blush. “Brother Chi, let me help. I cook a lot at home.”
“No need,” Chi Fengxiao said flatly, not even looking at her. “Just take care of yourselves.”
Better keep them from causing trouble.
Xia Xinyue thought he was being considerate, her face flushing redder. “Thank you, Brother Chi, you’re so kind.”
Chi Fengxiao: “?”
Darkness settled in. The others set up camp nearby.
Two ostriches stood guard outside the campsite, providing a sense of absolute safety. At least there’d be no fear of wild beasts attacking in the night.
Intent on getting closer to her idol, Xia Xinyue carried over a self-heating hotpot to ingratiate herself. “Brother Chi, Qian Qian, thanks for letting us camp here. This is for you.”
Chi Fengxiao rejected her instantly. “No need, we already have food.”
“You don’t need to be polite with me.” Xia Xinyue smiled shyly. “I know Qian Qian really likes these things. Actually… I brought this especially for her.”
Chi Fengxiao: “?”
Wait—what was that supposed to mean?
At home, it was already enough of a headache fighting with his two brothers over his little treasure.
And now, even during filming, outsiders wanted to snatch her away?
Did they all think he didn’t exist as her uncle?
A wave of crisis washed over Chi Fengxiao. His guard went up. “No. Absolutely not. My Qian Qian never eats food from strangers. Please take it back.”
Xia Xinyue looked disappointed. “Brother Chi, I just wanted to share…”
“Share? She doesn’t even look at you,” Xia Zhenzhen stormed over, snatching the self-heating hotpot. “Whether she eats or not, what’s it to you? I’m starving!”
“Zhenzhen, don’t do that—this is Qian Qian’s favorite—”
“You’re always going on and on about Qian Qian, Qian Qian! Enough already! I’M your sister!” In a fit of anger, Xia Zhenzhen smashed the hotpot on the ground. “Even if I have to throw it away, I’d never let her have it!”
She hated Chi Qian to the bone!
Why did the show crew only ever let her cheat?!
It wasn’t like their family was poor— But still!
Stomping her foot, Xia Zhenzhen stormed off.
[A real princess having a tantrum is called “princess syndrome.” What she’s got is “wild chicken emotional breakdown disorder.”]
[At least if you’re going to go crazy, learn from Little Qian—her insanity is stable, not hysterical.]
[Raised on a pedestal at home, she really thinks the world revolves around her.]
Xia Xinyue’s eyes reddened. She bowed to Chi Qian. “Sorry, Qian Qian. My sister’s been badly frightened today, she spoke out of turn. Please don’t take it to heart.”
Chi Qian propped her chin on her hand, squinting lazily. “Doesn’t matter. She’s sick, I won’t bother with her.”
“Anyway, one slap from me and she’d be dead.”
Xia Xinyue’s face went chalk-white. She gave two awkward laughs to cover the tension, then hurried off after her sister.
Chi Fengxiao finally exhaled in relief watching them leave.
The farther away those treasure-snatchers went, the better. Never come back.
But when he turned his head, he saw Chi Qian staring straight at the discarded hotpot on the ground.
“No!” Chi Fengxiao covered her eyes, whispering like a devil: “It touched the ground. It’s dirty. More than five seconds—it can’t be eaten.”
Chi Qian smacked her lips regretfully. “Should’ve let the wolves carry her off earlier. That way we’d still have a hotpot left.”
Luo Fan shivered. Damn psycho.
At that moment, a loud helicopter thumping filled the air.
Chi Qian looked up. A black helicopter flew overhead.
The sky was dark, but with her sharp eyesight she clearly saw the emblem on the tail.
CY.
