Chapter 4 – First Meeting, Let Me Perform the Splits for You
Thick-skinned as always, Chi Qian calmly said: “Hello, Grandfather. Nice to meet you. Let me perform the splits for you.”
Chi Lisen: “…”
Chi Muze covered his forehead.
Chi Lisen lowered his head, examining this astonishing girl.
A tender doll-like face, round lively eyes staring up at him with curiosity.
Not a trace of the fear or awe other children usually showed him, but rather full of curiosity and closeness.
Chi Qian lifted her chin, certain her grandfather must also be impressed by her heroic spirit.
Chi Lisen: “No need for such a grand salute. Get up.”
Chi Qian: With one sentence, you ruined all my tenderness.
Chi Muze suppressed a laugh and pulled Chi Qian up so she could stand properly.
Chi Lisen withdrew his gaze and said bluntly: “Chi Qian, I’ll arrange a residence for you. One million a month, plus twenty servants to take care of you. Can you manage to live on your own?”
Chi Qian understood—this was his way of telling her to take the money and scram!
She didn’t actually care where she lived, but she had already accepted her uncle’s “bribe” and promised to behave well and try to stay!
“Boohoo, Grandpa, don’t drive me away!” Chi Qian squeezed out two tears. “I don’t have a father or mother—only you, my family. If you don’t want me, then I’ll really be an orphan!”
At the end, she even started singing: “Little cabbage, turning yellow in the field, two or three years old, lost her mom already…”
The scene was one to make listeners grieve and viewers weep.
Even Chi Lisen’s heart, hardened by years in business, gave a twitch—
Because it was so terribly out of tune.
Chi Muze couldn’t bear it. “Dad, if you don’t have time, then I can…”
“Enough.” Chi Lisen’s expression was stiff. “Who said I don’t want you?”
Chi Muze’s eyes showed surprise. His father… agreed?
Chi Qian quickly seized the chance: “Thank you, Grandpa. You’re so kind! You’re the most loving and generous elder I’ve ever met!”
“You sure know how to flatter.”
“I’m only telling the truth. The moment I saw you I felt so close—it must be because of our blood connection, our telepathic bond.”
After all, who can strike down a smiling face?
Chi Qian beamed sweetly.
Chi Lisen’s lips twitched. He turned to ask Chi Muze: “You taught her that?”
Chi Muze chuckled. “She’s just naturally gifted.”
“My patience with her only lasts a month. After that, it’s on you.”
“Alright. Then I’ll leave first.” Chi Muze sighed inwardly. That was about the limit he had expected.
“Bye-bye, Uncle. Come back soon, okay? I’ll miss you.” Chi Qian gazed at him pitifully—don’t forget to send me money regularly.
Her little wallet was already starving and empty. It needed a great deal of nourishment to fill it up.
Chi Muze froze for a moment. He hadn’t expected that, after less than a day together, Chi Qian would already be so reluctant to part with him.
She really did like her uncle.
“Take care of yourself. I’ll try to come back soon.”
Once he left, only Chi Qian and Chi Lisen remained, staring wide-eyed at each other.
“Sir, breakfast is ready.” Butler Nan stepped in, breaking the icy silence.
Chi Lisen glanced at his watch. “I need to go to the company now. Take her to the dining room, then arrange a room for her.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Grandpa, skipping breakfast is bad for your health. It can trigger many diseases, like stomach problems, gallstones, high cholesterol…” Chi Health-Guru Qian lectured solemnly.
Chi Lisen: “Children shouldn’t meddle in adults’ affairs. Go eat your own breakfast.”
“But the book says that if a person hasn’t eaten breakfast by 9:30, the stomach and intestines will start digesting last night’s poop. Grandpa…”
Chi Qian stared at him, her eyes saying loud and clear—
Eating poop is bad.
Chi Lisen stared back at her, his facial muscles twitching slightly.
No one had ever dared say such words to him.
But even the domineering, self-willed richest man didn’t want his granddaughter’s first impression of him to be… eating that kind of thing.
“Nan, prepare a breakfast for me.”
Butler Nan’s eyes widened in disbelief, darting a quick look at Chi Qian before answering briskly: “Yes, sir.”
Chi Qian was satisfied. “Grandpa, we must cherish our health. That way we can live much longer.”
Chi Lisen’s gaze shifted slightly; his look at her was no longer quite as cold and harsh.
“Mm.”
He really was busy—even while eating breakfast, he had to listen to his assistant’s reports on today’s schedule, meetings, branch inspections, and countless other matters.
Chi Qian sighed. Being rich wasn’t easy either.
If only her storage ring had come with her—inside it, heavenly treasures were piled up like mountains, all from the ten years she’d spent raising pigs.
She could at least share a little of her grandfather and uncle’s burden.
But right now…
Chi Qian placed a croissant in front of Chi Lisen. “Grandpa, you eat.”
Chi Lisen noticed her small action. “You eat it yourself.”
“This croissant is fluffy and soft, with a bit of crispiness on the outside. It’s the best I’ve ever tasted.” Chi Qian recommended earnestly.
Chi Lisen said nothing, simply lowering his gaze to look at the croissant.
He had been dining alone here for nearly twenty years. Now, with this little one by his side, it didn’t feel so bad.
But soon, his expression hardened again.
Just like her mother, who ran away from home, who knew when this girl would also abandon the family and chase after some man?
“I’m heading to the company. If you need anything, go to the butler.” Chi Lisen stood and left.
The croissant on the plate remained untouched.
Seeing Chi Qian lower her head, Butler Nan worried she might be upset and said, “Little Miss, don’t be sad. Sir is truly very busy, and he has little experience getting along with children.”
In truth, Chi Qian was simply reminded of the super-wealthy villain from the book.
Her grandfather looked… pretty wealthy too.
“Uncle Butler, what’s my grandpa’s name?” she asked.
“Little Miss, just call me Uncle Nan. Sir’s name is Chi Lisen—Li as in powerful, Sen as in forest.”
Chi Lisen!
The bun in Chi Qian’s hand dropped with a plop.
That was none other than Chi Lisen, the self-made tycoon, the richest man in the nation!
Also—the greatest villain in the entire book!
For the sake of his early-dead granddaughter, he repeatedly placed the male and female leads in peril, nearly killing them, until he himself died of illness in the end!
Granddaughter… Chi Qian… that’s her?!
Good heavens!
She would die, her grandfather would die avenging her, and then her uncles, avenging both of them, would also go one after another against the leads…
Wait, wait, wait—wasn’t this just like the gourd brothers rescuing their grandpa?
Chi Qian suddenly felt the weight of her little life. If she was gone, the whole family would collapse with her…
No way—she had to take health preservation seriously.
Iced cola… drinking a few less sips won’t kill her!
“Uncle Nan, do we have pets at home?” Chi Qian asked.
“Yes, Little Miss. There’s a German Shepherd for guarding the house, and a white cockatiel that flew in one day and refused to leave. Would you like to see them?”
“Yes.”
Chi Qian spent the whole day in the courtyard playing with the dog and bird.
By evening, Chi Lisen returned home. Hearing the noisy laughter from the yard, his brows knit into a deep 川 shape. He questioned Butler Nan, “You didn’t tell her she must always stay quiet in this house?”
“Sir, the Little Miss might be too lonely. She spent all day talking to the dog and bird—I really couldn’t stop her.” Butler Nan sighed. “The Young Master said the Little Miss might have mental issues… it could be true.”
Chi Lisen: “She kept talking to animals?”
“Yes. I accidentally overheard her saying things like failing ascension and ten years of pig farming turning her heart to steel.”
Chi Lisen fell silent.
His granddaughter, Chi Lisen’s granddaughter, could not possibly be a fool.
Just then, a bright voice rang out across the grass, “Grandpa!”
Chi Lisen looked up. Chi Qian beamed at him.
If only he could ignore the fact she was riding a pink pig.
