Wu Yu seemed surprised that Xu Youyou would say such a thing. He froze for a moment before stammering, “Miss Xu, if we’re really talking about what’s cost-effective, of course it’s cheaper to buy it abroad. But why did you insist on paying a high premium to buy it from Fang Rui before?”
Wu Yu thought his question would stump Xu Youyou, but she immediately replied, “It’s not like I’m short on money. If I see something I like, of course I’ll buy it on the spot.”
Hearing this, Wu Yu was momentarily speechless.
Xu Youyou, on the other hand, seized the momentum and continued, “Come to think of it, you and Fang Rui are pretty much the same type. So why was he grinning from ear to ear when he heard he sold it for thirty million, while you’re doing business in the opposite direction?”
Both of them were spoiled rich kids. Their families, trying to keep them from going too far, typically used financial restrictions as a way of control.
Though both were pampered young masters with unlimited food and spending money, buying a sports car at three times the original price was something their families normally wouldn’t condone.
Wu Yu paused and said, “I… I-I’m just like that, I don’t really think things through.”
Xu Youyou didn’t press further—after all, she had already forced this kid to insult himself, and she wasn’t going to get more useful info from him. She casually said,
“Well, I’ve just shown you a clear path forward. You should really be thanking me.”
Wu Yu felt like he was enduring humiliation for a greater cause. But faced with Xu Youyou’s bright, clear eyes, he was afraid of revealing his father’s schemes, so he awkwardly muttered, “Thank you… so much…”
Xu Youyou smiled, “No need to be so polite. I’ve always loved helping others.”
Wu Yu felt like there was no way the conversation could go on anymore.
Just then, a commotion came from the entrance.
Following the noise, Xu Youyou saw a man walk in wearing a black Tang suit with a vivid red Chinese dragon embroidered on it.
Even though the distance wasn’t close, the red dragon looked incredibly lifelike—clearly the work of a top-tier embroidery artisan.
Coincidentally, the man in the black robe with the red dragon turned his head just then, and his gaze locked with Xu Youyou’s in midair.
Xu Youyou felt something strange in her heart. She had never met this man before, yet he gave her a strong sense of danger.
Lu Jingyao had quietly returned to her side and whispered, “Red Dragon King.”
Xu Youyou’s eyes widened. She had heard of that name before, but this was the first time she had seen the man himself.
The Gu siblings quickly went over to the Red Dragon King, who treated them with warmth and familiarity.
Xu Youyou heard people around her whispering,
“Those Gu siblings are so lucky to be favored by the Red Dragon King.”
“He looks even younger than last time… What kind of immortality technique is he practicing?”
Naturally, while some idolized the Red Dragon King, others scoffed at him.
The younger generation of the Gu family in Hong Kong just nodded slightly to him, showing no intent to socialize. Xu Youyou even noticed a few of them make excuses to leave the moment he appeared.
But with so many people present, this small number of people avoiding him didn’t stand out. On the contrary, because many others were fawning over him, the Red Dragon King appeared especially sought-after.
Despite all this attention, the Red Dragon King didn’t show any enjoyment on his face. After a few polite exchanges with important figures, he walked straight toward Xu Youyou.
“Miss Xu, I’ve heard much about you, but never had the chance to meet—what an occasion for us to finally do so today,” the Red Dragon King said with a smile, extending his hand in greeting.
Anyone else would’ve instinctively returned the handshake—but Xu Youyou was different.
Now that she knew he was involved in metaphysical practices, even if she hadn’t seen him perform any rituals, she knew he likely had strange abilities. There was no way she’d dare touch him.
She raised her hand instead to casually tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, clearly avoiding the handshake. The Red Dragon King had to retract his hand silently.
Xu Youyou said, “I’ve heard your name quite often too—mostly from people using it to ask me for things.”
Last time, she had clashed briefly with his subordinates over a Western-style house in Shanghai.
The Red Dragon King didn’t show the slightest embarrassment and instead asked, “Miss Xu, have you heard of the San Sheng Sect? If you’re interested, I’d love to tell you more about it.”
Xu Youyou waved her hand, “Sorry, my elders don’t allow me to mess with cults.”
Before the Red Dragon King could respond, Gu Fengchuan, standing behind him, immediately snapped, “Xu Youyou, is that how you were raised?”
Xu Youyou shrugged, “I’ve been an orphan since forever—no one raised me.”
Gu Fengchuan, once again provoked by her, looked like his nose was about to go crooked in anger.
The Red Dragon King stopped him, saying, “Our sect is long used to being misunderstood. Miss Xu is young—she probably feels like life will always go smoothly for her. If the day ever comes when it doesn’t, you’re welcome to come find me. I’d be honored to be your friend.”
As he said this, he extended his hand again.
It was a polite and well-crafted line that displayed his magnanimity.
But Xu Youyou still didn’t extend her hand. She simply replied, “When it comes to friends, I value quality over quantity. I’m not looking to expand my circle right now.”
The Red Dragon King’s expression dimmed. The girl in front of him was clearly going to be hard to deal with.
Lu Jingyao chimed in at the right moment, “Youyou, there are a few friends over there I’d like to introduce you to. Mr. Long, if you’ll excuse us.”
He nodded politely to the Red Dragon King and then pulled Xu Youyou away.
The Red Dragon King watched them leave, his gaze dark and brooding. He truly admired both Xu Youyou and Lu Jingyao, yet both of them had no regard for him. Instead, he was constantly surrounded by worthless people like the Gu family.
Gu Fengchuan tried once again to show loyalty. “My lord, would you like me to teach Xu Youyou a lesson? I am her older brother…”
The Red Dragon King cut him off, saying, “Go ahead—if you’re not afraid to die.”
Gu Fengchuan instantly shrank like a chicken whose neck had just been grabbed—completely lacking any aura of a family heir.
Lu Jingyao wasn’t lying. He introduced Xu Youyou to several of his business partners in Hong Kong.
“The Liu family is in the shipping business, the Li family deals in real estate… If you ever need help in those areas, just reach out to them directly.”
Maybe Lu Jingyao had given them a heads-up in advance, but all these people were very polite to Xu Youyou.
“Miss Xu, my sister is a fan of Song Zhibai. I heard he’s filming here in Hong Kong. Her birthday is in a few days—would it be possible to invite him to sing a song for her?” asked Li, the heir of the real estate family.
