As soon as Xu Youyou finished speaking, everyone was stunned.
Among the drivers, one man showed a flash of panic on his face.
Xu Youyou had already grown tired of the unsafe environment abroad during this time.
“Our people can drive. We don’t need you,” Xu Youyou said.
The translator conveyed her meaning.
The drivers shook their heads and said, “You don’t have a local driver’s license. We can’t rent the cars to you.”
Xu Youyou insisted, “If anything happens while driving, we will take full responsibility. Your rental company won’t be implicated.”
But the drivers still shook their heads.
Xu Fang whispered, “Boss, I heard that in Thailand, you can buy a driver’s license. The more money you spend, the faster you can get it.”
Xu Youyou felt even more disgusted with the Thai government.
“Then let’s go directly to wherever we can get a license,” Xu Youyou said. She didn’t want to entrust the control of the cars to unfamiliar foreigners.
At that moment, a bodyguard behind her spoke up, “Miss Xu, I have an international driver’s license. It’s valid here.”
Xu Youyou looked at him. He wasn’t one of her regular security team but a bodyguard temporarily hired from a security company for this trip.
She couldn’t help but admire him and said, “You’re good. Would you be interested in becoming my full-time bodyguard?”
Within the bodyguard team, they all knew how well Xu Youyou treated her personal guards. Hearing her offer, the man’s face lit up with joy.
“Miss Xu, of course I would!”
The other temporary hires looked at the lucky man with envy, quietly making a mental note to obtain an international driver’s license themselves.
Even Xu Fang felt a little regretful for not thinking ahead about getting an international license.
“Miss, I can take you to get a license right now,” one of the local drivers offered.
Xu Youyou was about to agree but suddenly felt a chill in her heart. She shook her head and instead pointed at the bodyguard with the international license.
“You drive one car, fill it with people, take them all to get licenses, and then come back,” Xu Youyou ordered.
“Do you know the way?” the local driver asked.
Xu Youyou shook her head and smiled. “Even if we don’t know the way, we have GPS. Once we get there, we’ll pay our way through.”
The local driver had nothing to say, watching helplessly as one car drove off. He then turned and urged, “Boss, you must be tired after flying. Why don’t you go rest at the hotel first?”
Xu Youyou found him even more suspicious and shook her head. “I’ll pay for your taxi. Just leave the cars here. My people will come back and drive them.”
“Boss, that’s not according to the rules. When you rented the cars, the drivers were included in the payment,” the driver tried to persuade her.
Xu Youyou replied, “Are you trying to force me? Don’t worry, even if something happens to the cars, you’ll get every penny you’re owed.”
There was nothing the drivers could do. They accepted the taxi fare and left.
“Boss, you suspect something’s wrong with these people? I’ll arrange for someone to investigate immediately,” Xu Fang offered.
Xu Youyou nodded slightly.
At this moment, the bodyguard captain suddenly spoke up, “Boss, I’ve heard from friends that the people here have low incomes. Catching a single customer can earn them tens of thousands of yuan in commissions, so they’re always ready to sell out their passengers.”
Those who might sell out customers could be drivers, waiters at roadside restaurants, or even random passersby. No one could tell who might suddenly be tempted by the money.
Xu Youyou hadn’t even gotten deep into the country yet but already felt like a pig waiting to be slaughtered.
She waited patiently at the airport for almost two hours. The group who went to get licenses all returned.
As expected, the whole process had been ridiculously easy, leaving them speechless.
Xu Fang lowered her voice and explained, “If we were willing to wait a few days, it would cost about 2,000 yuan per person. Since we needed it urgently and had enough people, they charged a high price—about 5,000 yuan per person. We took the express route and got our licenses in the shortest time possible.”
Xu Youyou nodded lightly. She didn’t care whether it was 2,000 or 5,000 yuan. It was just a small amount of money to her now.
With all the drivers replaced by her own people, the heavy weight on Xu Youyou’s heart eased slightly.
Xu Fang originally wanted Xu Youyou to rest after landing, but Xu Youyou immediately directed them to start driving through the streets of Bangkok.
Honestly, the longer they spent with Xu Youyou, the more they noticed how unusual she was.
However, Xu Youyou paid them well enough that they were willing to turn a blind eye to her oddities.
Following her directions, they drove for a long time before finally arriving at the entrance of a narrow alley.
The alley was too narrow for the car to drive in, so the group got out.
Xu Youyou led the way. If she hadn’t been surrounded by her own people, she would never have dared enter such a dark, gloomy alley.
They walked to the end of the alley before Xu Youyou finally stopped, frowning and pretending to confirm, “It should be here.”
In front of her was a closed door.
Xu Fang stepped forward to knock but was stopped by Xu Youyou, who sent a tall bodyguard instead.
He knocked on the door for a full three minutes before there was finally some movement inside.
A middle-aged man with dark skin, looking about forty years old and clearly a local, opened the door.
Seeing Xu Youyou’s group, his eyes filled with wariness. “Who are you looking for?” he asked.
The translator relayed his question.
The system’s golden pointer still pointed inside. Xu Youyou braced herself and said, “I’m here to pay a visit…”
After the translator conveyed her words, suspicion appeared on the man’s face. He then said coldly, “You’re not welcome here. Please leave.”
After saying that, he slammed the door shut.
The bodyguard closest to the door got a face full of dust, showing just how angry the man was.
“Find someone. I want to know everything about this place as soon as possible,” Xu Youyou ordered Xu Fang.
Xu Fang nodded without question.
After being shut out, Xu Youyou finally agreed to go to the hotel to rest. Even though it was a luxury hotel in Bangkok, she didn’t let her guard down. She had six bodyguards inspect the room three times.
Only after they used equipment to confirm there were no hidden cameras, secret doors, or any other suspicious things did Xu Youyou finally move in.
But early the next morning, there was a knock at the door.
When she opened it, a stunningly handsome young man stood outside.
“Dear guest, I am Puli, your hotel room butler,” he said, flashing Xu Youyou a flirtatious smile.
