Chapter 194: Fierce Battle
Fang Xiaocao didn’t look toward the balcony. Instead, she gripped her gun tightly and stared through the gap in the bedsheets, keeping her eyes locked on the door.
She knew that the enraged demon-like Taotie was about to break through at any moment.
Just as the thought crossed her mind, a thunderous “BOOM” echoed through the room. The entire door was sent flying inward, propelled by an immense force.
The solid wooden door spun in the air, growing larger in her view as it hurtled toward her. The whistling wind as it cut through the air sent a chill down her spine.
Too terrifying!
It was like something straight out of a high-budget 3D action film.
“Damn it! What kind of beast is this guy?!”
Tom’s curse rang out from the balcony.
“Die, you bastard!”
Taotie roared, charging forward like an armored tank, following closely behind the airborne door.
Fang Xiaocao watched in horror as his polished leather shoes crushed the wooden floor beneath him with each step.
“Holy crap!”
“Tom was right—this guy is a damn monster!”
Tom’s comparison of Taotie to a wild beast wasn’t an exaggeration at all—it was an understatement.
Even a bull wouldn’t be able to shatter the floor with just its footsteps!
“BANG! BANG!”
Two gunshots rang out as Tom fired his weapon.
At the sound of gunfire, Taotie’s movements faltered. He instantly sidestepped, dodging the bullets.
A moment later, Fang Xiaocao saw two fresh holes appear in the wooden doorframe.
If Taotie hadn’t dodged in time, those bullets would have definitely hit their mark.
“Tom’s a sharpshooter!”
“Both he and Taotie are absolute experts.”
Fang Xiaocao murmured in awe.
The heavy door crashed onto the floor with a thud, making the entire room tremble. The impact sent a jolt through Fang Xiaocao, almost making her drop her gun.
Taotie seized the opportunity and leaped forward, using the bed as a stepping stone to propel himself toward the balcony.
“CRACK!”
The sound of splitting wood rang above Fang Xiaocao’s head. She shivered at the realization.
“He just stomped the bed into pieces!”
“He’s using so much force—doesn’t he worry about tripping and falling flat on his face?”
“That would be hilarious.”
She smirked at the ridiculous thought.
Suddenly, the sounds of fierce combat erupted from the balcony.
Tom and Taotie had engaged in close-quarters combat.
Fang Xiaocao didn’t rush to help—she had her own mission.
She had to deal with Taotie’s assistant—the secretary.
Her strength was unknown, making her an unpredictable threat. Fang Xiaocao needed to ambush her.
She couldn’t allow the secretary to provide backup for Taotie.
If the woman entered the room, Fang Xiaocao would pull the trigger without hesitation.
Only by eliminating this woman could she turn her full attention to helping Tom.
Otherwise, if the secretary landed a sneak attack at a critical moment, it could cost them their lives.
The fight on the balcony raged on. Fang Xiaocao could hear the sound of heavy punches cutting through the air.
Then, the sharp click-clack of high heels echoed from the hallway.
“She’s coming!”
Fang Xiaocao tensed, raising her gun toward the entrance.
She held her breath, waiting.
A pair of high heels appeared in the doorway.
The secretary entered the room, gun raised.
“Freeze! If you resist, I’ll shoot!” she shouted.
Tom ignored her, continuing his battle with Taotie.
He knew Fang Xiaocao would handle the secretary.
“BANG! BANG!”
Before the secretary could react, two gunshots rang out.
“AHH—!”
She screamed and collapsed to the floor, her gun flying from her hand.
Fang Xiaocao had fired at point-blank range, aiming straight at the secretary’s leg.
Both bullets hit their mark, shattering her shinbone.
Her leg twisted into a gruesome, unnatural shape.
Fang Xiaocao quickly crawled out from under the bed and raised her gun.
“BANG! BANG!”
She fired two more shots.
But her aim was off.
One bullet struck the secretary’s stomach, while the other embedded itself into the wooden floor.
“Damn it—my aim sucks.”
Fang Xiaocao cringed at her own poor marksmanship.
If she had to rely on her feet to dig a grave for the secretary, she’d have built a whole three-bedroom tomb by now.
Determined to finish the job, she drew her black dagger and slashed at the secretary’s throat.
The woman’s eyes widened in shock, filled with unwillingness.
She died with her eyes open.
Only after confirming that the secretary was dead did Fang Xiaocao turn her attention back to the balcony.
She had to admit…
Tom was incredible.
Not only was he skilled with technology, explosives, and strategy, but he was also a great marksman.
And now, he was holding his own against Taotie—a walking killing machine.
Though Tom was at a slight disadvantage, he wasn’t losing outright.
“Taotie! Don’t move!”
“Your assistant is dead. If you resist, I’ll shoot!”
Fang Xiaocao aimed her gun at Taotie and shouted.
Taotie hesitated for a split second.
That was all Tom needed.
His black dagger flashed through the air.
SPLURT!
Blood sprayed everywhere.
A deep slash ran from Taotie’s left chest to his lower abdomen.
“Ugh—!”
Taotie gritted his teeth, grunting in pain.
With a furious growl, he raised both arms and swung at Tom in a double-handed smash.
If that blow connected, Tom’s skull would be obliterated.
But the expected bloodbath didn’t happen.
Tom moved like an eel, dodging low and slipping past Taotie’s deadly strike.
At the same time, he drove his dagger straight into Taotie’s thigh.
“AAARGH—!”
Taotie howled in agony.
Tom yanked the dagger out and leaped back.
But before he could launch another attack, Taotie’s massive fist came flying at his face.
Tom had no choice but to retreat.
Seeing the perfect opportunity, Fang Xiaocao gritted her teeth and pulled the trigger.
“BANG!”
A deafening gunshot rang through the room.
Blood burst from Taotie’s back.
He staggered forward, collapsing onto one knee.
He turned his head, eyes glowing red with fury.
Rage and bloodlust filled his gaze.
He looked less like a human and more like a bloodthirsty beast.
Fang Xiaocao’s breath hitched.
“Holy crap…”
“That’s terrifying.”
