Chapter 75: Excitement — The Evil Thought Value Dropped
As it turned out, Nan Xun saw her dad, Li Chen, use the same fork to pick up a bite for himself, not minding at all that the fork had just been “bathed” in her saliva.
Li Chen took two big bites himself, then forked another piece and fed it to Nan Xun. “Here, sweetheart.”
Nan Xun was very conflicted inside, but decisively firm on the outside. She opened her mouth wide and stuffed the cake—fork and all—into her mouth, chomping away with relish.
You take a bite, I take a bite—before long, the little cake was almost gone.
Only the last small piece remained. Nan Xun held the tiny fork, speared it, and brought it to Li Chen’s mouth. “Daddy, this is the last piece. You eat it.”
In truth, she just couldn’t eat anymore—her stomach was too small.
“Sweetheart, you’re so filial. Daddy is very happy. How about… we split it half and half?” Li Chen said.
Li Chen was a very meticulous person. If he said half, it was absolutely half. Nan Xun clearly saw him eat the final piece of peach on top of the cake—who would’ve thought that after putting it in his mouth, he actually spat half of it back out.
Nan Xun cursed inwardly. “Holy crap. Little Eight, how can he be so unhygienic? He wants me to eat the half he already ate?”
The Void Beast replied earnestly, “For the sake of his evil thought value, just endure it. It’s just saliva—he’s not making you eat poison.”
Li Chen forked the remaining cake, now smeared with half a piece of peach, and held it out to Nan Xun. “Here, sweetheart.”
Being stared at so directly by him made Nan Xun uneasy. She didn’t have a particularly severe germaphobia, but damn it, this thing was covered in his saliva. The big boss was right there waiting—if she let him think she found him dirty, she’d be finished. All her efforts would go down the drain.
Nan Xun let out an “aowoo” and swallowed the cake in one bite, chewing vigorously on the half piece of peach stained with Li Chen’s saliva.
By the time the two returned to the villa, it was already very late. Nan Xun sprawled flat on the bed in a starfish pose.
“Daddy, you’re squashing me,” Nan Xun turned her head and saw an arm lying across her little butt.
Li Chen scooped her into his arms and rolled over. One big person stacked on one little person—they ended up like a human pyramid.
“Daddy, Daddy, I’m so sleepy, but I haven’t brushed my teeth or washed my face yet,” Nan Xun said, lying on his stomach, propping her head up with her little arms to look at him.
“Come on, sweetheart. Let’s go wash up together,” Li Chen said, lifting little Nan Xun up.
Nan Xun draped herself limply around his neck and yawned. “Daddy, don’t go out at night anymore. Let’s sleep earlier.”
“Alright. We’ll do whatever sweetheart says.”
In the bathroom, Nan Xun very consciously dragged over her little stool and set it in front of the sink. Standing on it, she could see herself in the big mirror.
Li Chen squeezed out strawberry-flavored fruit toothpaste for her. One big and one small, the two of them brushed their teeth facing the mirror.
Brush left, brush right—their movements were exactly the same.
After brushing, Nan Xun bared her teeth at the mirror. “Daddy, my teeth are so white.”
Li Chen chuckled softly, wiped her little face with a towel, and carefully washed her tiny feet. “Come on, sweetheart. Time to sleep.”
—
The relationship between Li Chen and his daughter was getting better and better, but Old Master Li was growing more and more worried.
Seeing that Li Chen was about to head to the company again as usual, taking little Nan along, Old Master Li couldn’t help coughing lightly. “Li Chen, maybe it’s better to let Nan Nan stay at home. She’s at an age where she can’t sit still. Once you get busy with work, you won’t be able to look after her, and she’ll be bored all by herself. Besides, in another year or two she’ll be going to elementary school. She doesn’t want to go to kindergarten, but she still needs to learn some basic lessons, or she’ll fall behind.”
Before Li Chen could say anything, Nan Xun immediately spoke up. “Grandpa, I can already do addition, subtraction, and multiplication for first grade! I don’t want to study lessons—I’m a genius, Li Xiao Nan!”
Li Chen patted her head and said to Old Master Li, “My sweetheart takes after me—she’s smart.”
After that, Li Chen said nothing more. He picked up Nan Xun’s cartoon backpack with one hand, lifted her with the other, and the father and daughter happily went out the door.
Old Master Li felt utterly exhausted.
The old butler smiled. “Perhaps you’re worrying too much, sir. Miss is still young. It’s natural for the young master to spend more time on her now. When she grows up, they won’t be this clingy anymore.”
“Hopefully…” Old Master Li sighed.
Li Chen worked in his office while Nan Xun sat quietly to the side, coloring and drawing, looking very well-behaved.
That day, Li Chen had a major meeting to attend, and little Nan Xun happily tagged along. She dragged a chair over next to Li Chen’s seat, climbed up and sat properly. Then she took out a notebook from her little backpack, along with her crayons, set them neatly in front of her, picked a red one, and started doodling on the paper.
Across the table sat two rows of department managers in sharp suits, their gazes all landing on the pink-cheeked, jade-carved little figure.
Only when Li Chen’s cold, sharp gaze swept over them did everyone hurriedly avert their eyes.
“President Li, this is last month’s sales revenue…” someone began stiffly, and everyone returned to business.
The meeting lasted an entire day. Nan Xun’s little butt had practically gone numb from sitting. There was no helping it—Li Chen’s company had too many departments, and Li Chen himself was the kind of leader who handled everything personally.
All day long, with nothing else to do, Nan Xun filled an entire notebook with drawings of little figures. Every single one showed a big person holding a small child. The drawings were ugly—really ugly. The adult’s head was as big as their body, the mouth was a straight line, and the eyebrows were two slanted lines tilting upward.
Still, ugly as they were, they were oddly vivid. At a glance, you could tell that the big person was Li Chen.
“Sweetheart, you must’ve waited a long time. Daddy’s finished with work—we can go home now,” Li Chen said, lifting little Nan Xun up with one hand.
Nan Xun puffed out her cheeks and said in a soft, spoiled voice, “Daddy, I sat all day—my butt hurts. I also drew all day, and my arms are sore.”
“Sweetheart worked hard. When we get home, Daddy will massage you,” Li Chen said.
“Thank you, Daddy. Daddy is the best,” Nan Xun said, quickly handing him the notebook she’d drawn in all day. “Daddy, this is for you. It’s all Daddy and me. I drew Daddy really handsome.”
Nan Xun felt that her filial devotion should move heaven and earth. If Li Chen’s evil thought value didn’t drop after this, then there was no justice in the world.
Li Chen took the sketchbook, his expression freezing for a second. He flipped it open and looked through it carefully.
“Daddy, do you think my drawings are good?” Nan Xun asked eagerly.
Li Chen silently rubbed her head. His gaze was deep and unreadable, his voice somewhat low. “They’re good. Very good.”
Nan Xun was a little puzzled. Shouldn’t her dad be so moved that he burst into tears? Wasn’t this reaction a bit too calm?
Just then, Little Eight suddenly spoke up, sounding excited. “Your dad Li Chen’s evil thought value dropped by 10 points at that very moment!”
Nan Xun was excited too. Damn, that was really not easy at all!
