Chapter 74: Daddy, You’ve Got Me Drunk
That night, father and daughter wrestled around on the bed for quite a while. Nan Xun had an absolute blast playing “horseback riding.”
Tsk tsk—this feeling of riding on top of the big boss was way too blissful. Such a great perk—she absolutely had to enjoy it as much as possible in this world.
After they’d had enough fun, Li Chen started reading storybooks to Nan Xun. She lay sprawled on his flat, firm stomach, idly kicking her little legs.
“…and then Mama Pig and Papa Pig lived happily ever after.”
After finishing the twentieth storybook, Li Chen rubbed the fluffy little head somewhat helplessly. “Baby, Daddy has already read twenty books. Aren’t you sleepy yet?”
He’d planned to leave after coaxing his little treasure to sleep, but the kid was sharp as a tack. She seemed to have noticed he had somewhere to go—after twenty stories, she still hadn’t yawned once, her watery big eyes slyly fixed on him.
Li Chen thought for a moment, set aside the twenty-first storybook she’d handed him, and coaxed gently, “Baby, Daddy needs to go out for a bit. You sleep first—Daddy will bring you a present when he gets back.”
Nan Xun pouted. “When we bought my dress today, I saw Daddy conveniently buy a watch too. Daddy, are you ditching me to go on a secret date with your lover?”
Li Chen didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Baby, who taught you that? Daddy isn’t going to see a lover, and Daddy doesn’t have any lovers.”
Nan Xun slapped his face lightly with her little palm. “Who says Daddy doesn’t have a lover? I’m Daddy’s little lover. Daughters are their fathers’ lovers from a past life.”
Li Chen raised an eyebrow, in a pretty good mood. “Alright, Daddy’s little lover. Daddy’s just going to a friend’s birthday party—just to show my face and I’ll be back soon.”
Nan Xun wouldn’t have it. “I don’t care. Daddy can’t leave me behind. Wherever you go, I’m going too!”
—
Twilight was a very high-end bar, located on the most bustling street in the city. The people who came here generally fell into two groups: well-known figures and rich second-generation heirs, or newly rich tycoons and their offspring.
And this famous Twilight belonged to the father of Li Chen’s childhood friend—Zhao Minghao.
When Li Chen brought his daughter into the private room, the previously noisy room instantly fell dead silent.
Everyone stared wide-eyed at the exquisitely cute little doll in Young Master Li’s arms.
She looked as if she were made of water—soft and tender. A pair of watery big eyes curiously looked around at them, her chubby little lips slightly pouted as she leaned close to Young Master Li’s ear, whispering something.
And the well-known cold-faced Little Yama King of their circle suddenly softened all his facial lines.
Damn—what the hell?
Is this really Li Chen?
No possession involved?
“Daddy, Daddy, why is that handsome uncle putting his hand into the pretty auntie’s clothes?” Nan Xun blinked, pointing at the man—no, the youth—in the center of the room. He looked only eighteen or nineteen.
Li Chen followed her soft little finger and looked toward Zhao Minghao. His face immediately darkened. With a large hand, he quickly covered Nan Xun’s eyes.
Zhao Minghao felt awkward and hurriedly pulled his hand out from the dress of the innocent-looking girl beside him.
“Zhao Minghao, didn’t I tell you before I came that there were to be no irrelevant people in the private room? Did you take my words as a breeze past your ears?” Li Chen’s voice was icy cold.
The others in the room went completely silent, not daring to make a sound.
Though everyone present was a wealthy second-generation heir, compared to the Li family they were nothing. And this man before them had been handling major affairs alongside Old Master Li since the age of twelve—completely different from their own playboy ways.
Though Zhao Minghao was a bit of a rogue, he and Li Chen were close. He quickly waved the women out of the room and said with a grin, “Brother Chen, this one’s on me. I figured you weren’t new to this kind of thing and wouldn’t mind. I really didn’t expect the little princess to come along. I’ll punish myself with a drink—one drink, one drink, haha.”
Li Chen’s expression eased slightly. He casually tossed him a box. “Birthday present.”
Zhao Minghao tore open the wrapping, and when he saw the high-end diamond-studded watch inside, he couldn’t help whistling loudly. “Brother Chen never disappoints.”
Li Chen carried Nan Xun and sat in a corner of the private room, sweeping his gaze over everyone. “Do as you like. I’ll sit for a bit and then leave.”
“Don’t be like that, Young Master Li. You haven’t shown your face in ages—today we finally got you here. At least have a few drinks with us,” Zhao Minghao laughed.
With Zhao Minghao leading the way, the atmosphere livened up, and the others joined in the teasing.
Zhao Minghao winked at little Nan Xun. “My little princess, how about you persuade your daddy to drink a few more with us tonight?”
Nan Xun shot him a big eye-roll. “Daddy can’t handle his alcohol. He can’t drink much. If you want to drink, drink by yourself.”
Hearing her sweet, soft reply, everyone burst out laughing.
“I say, Young Master Li, where did you pick up such a thoughtful little kid? She’s nothing like you at all—so adorable, hahaha…”
Li Chen glanced at him. “My biological daughter.”
After sitting for a short while, Li Chen left with his daughter—enough to give Zhao Minghao face.
Once they were gone, the private room immediately exploded with chatter.
“Holy crap, that really was Young Master Li, right? I feel like I saw a fake one!”
“Last time I saw him my legs were shaking—why does he feel kind of approachable this time?”
“Approachable my ass—did you forget what happened last time…?”
Although Li Chen only stayed briefly, with Zhao Minghao around, he still ended up being forced to drink a glass—high-proof stuff.
Nan Xun herself had a great alcohol tolerance, but unfortunately, all the bodies Little Eight found for her had terrible tolerance—this child’s body especially so. Just smelling the alcohol on Daddy Li Chen’s breath made her feel a little drunk.
Seeing his daughter’s little face flushed red in his arms, Li Chen couldn’t help poking it, then giving it a pinch.
“Baby, are you uncomfortable?” Feeling that her little cheeks were a bit hot, Li Chen frowned.
Nan Xun fanned the air with her little palm, then pinched her own nose and said in a muffled voice, “Daddy, you’ve got me drunk.”
“Pfft!” Old Zhao, the driver in front, couldn’t help laughing out loud.
Suddenly feeling a chill at the back of his head, Old Zhao didn’t dare make another sound.
With a dark face, Li Chen got out halfway and bought a fruit-and-cream cake, with a little heart drawn on top.
“Daddy, why did you only buy one? I want some too,” Nan Xun protested.
Li Chen directly speared a bite with a fork and fed her. “Baby, let’s share.”
Nan Xun looked at the single fork in Daddy Li Chen’s hand—so that meant they were sharing one fork?
She ate the small bite of cake, then licked the fork back and forth with her little mouth.
With so much of my saliva on it, Daddy Li Chen should be grossed out enough not to use it again, right?
