Even with a little one perched on his shoulders, Li Chen still wiped his mouth elegantly with a wet tissue before grasping the little girl’s feet and standing up. He reminded her, “Hold on tight.”
Then the big one and the little one went strolling around the hall, and from time to time, the little girl’s clear, giggling laughter could be heard.
Old Master Li sat alone at the dining table, feeling stifled and uncomfortable.
“Old Wang, do you think I made the wrong decision back then?” Old Master Li sighed.

After the incident with Yu Manshan, Nan Xun felt a heavy sense of responsibility. No matter what Daddy Li Chen did, she had to follow him closely, just in case he hooked up with some other woman when she wasn’t around.
As a result, everyone knew that Li Chen had a little tail following him everywhere. Whatever Li Chen did, she did too. In the past, Li Chen would at least gather with some people from his circle every month or two, but now he didn’t go at all.
This time, it was the birthday of Li Chen’s childhood friend Zhao Minghao. Zhao Minghao booked the venue at his own place—a bar called Dusk—and threw a private party, inviting friends from their circle to get together.
Li Chen immediately refused, citing that he had a daughter at home to take care of. But Zhao Minghao kept pestering him relentlessly, and in the end, Li Chen had no choice but to agree.
“Daddy, Daddy, I’ve worn all the dresses in my closet so many times. Let’s go shopping, okay?” Nan Xun climbed onto Li Chen while he was working and planted two sloppy kisses on his handsome face.
Li Chen set aside the acquisition proposal in his hands, lifted his little treasure into his arms, and poked her chubby cheeks. “All the princess dresses in your closet were custom-made by the international master designer Java. The words were ridiculously sweet. Nan Xun felt she truly was Daddy Li Chen’s caring little padded jacket, warming his heart.
Li Chen’s gaze softened as he looked at her and reached out to ruffle her hair.
Nan Xun protested, “Hey, Daddy, don’t mess it up! You’re ruining my hairstyle.”
Li Chen let out a low chuckle, deep and pleasant.
“Daddy, Daddy, so are you going to take me out to play or not?” Nan Xun kneaded his face hard with her chubby little hands, squishing his handsome features out of shape.
Even with his image ruined, Li Chen didn’t get angry. Holding her close, he kissed her soft, pink cheek and smiled. “Alright. We’ll go now.”
Li Chen had never personally bought clothes for his daughter before; he usually left everything to his private designers. If the little one hadn’t brought it up, he wouldn’t even have realized this. Since he was going to Zhao Minghao’s birthday party tonight anyway, he could also pick up a watch as a gift.
If Zhao Minghao knew his birthday present was just an afterthought, he’d probably cry himself blind.
They headed to the most bustling commercial district in the city.
Since cars weren’t allowed inside, Driver Zhao parked the luxury extended limousine outside, while Li Chen held Nan Xun’s hand and walked in.
Li Chen was a very goal-oriented person. After a brief glance around, he led Nan Xun straight into a high-end building and went directly to the third floor’s children’s clothing section.
The building was lavishly decorated, filled with luxury brands, and most of the shoppers were people of considerable means.
At this hour, there weren’t many people browsing children’s clothes. Even when there were one or two, they were usually women. So Li Chen—tall, rich, and handsome—holding the hand of the exquisitely pretty Nan Xun was especially eye-catching.
Although the entire street belonged to Li Chen, he himself had hardly ever been here and wasn’t familiar with the place at all.
Nan Xun spotted a white, diamond-studded puffy dress in a display window and was about to pull Daddy Li Chen over to take a closer look when Little Eight suddenly shouted, “Alert, alert! In the shop you’re looking at, there’s one of Daddy Li Chen’s countless little lovers—and she’s the most formidable one!”

Li Chen raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t you like the puffy dress in the window? Why don’t you want it anymore?”

She hurriedly tugged Li Chen away, and only after spotting a shop with an older, experienced sales assistant inside did she pull him in.
The staff in this building were all highly professional. The sales assistant didn’t immediately ask Li Chen what he wanted. Instead, whenever Li Chen picked out a dress, she would give a brief explanation on the side, without being overly attentive.
Li Chen glanced at her approvingly and nodded. Later, he could give the building manager a raise.
Before long, Li Chen selected a simple yet smoothly tailored body-hugging dress and asked, “Baby, do you like this one?”
Nan Xun quickly said she liked it and carried the little dress inside to change.
The sales assistant was about to go in to help, but Li Chen beat her to it.
She froze for a moment, thinking that this father was really good to his daughter. People who shopped in places like this were all upper-class; even women who brought their children along might not personally help them change clothes.
After a while, Li Chen came out holding Nan Xun’s hand.
They stood in front of a full-length mirror, and Li Chen said, “Come on, baby, turn around and let me have a look.”
Nan Xun lifted her little skirt and twirled in front of the mirror, saying sweetly, “Daddy, you have such good taste. I really like it. Daddy, do you think I’m pretty?”
“Daddy’s baby is very beautiful,” Li Chen said, patting her little head.
The sales assistant smiled and added, “Your daughter is really lovely. This dress suits her very well.”
Li Chen raised his brow slightly and accepted the compliment with pleasure.
“Baby, this one’s not bad either. Want to try another?” Li Chen quickly picked out another dress.
Nan Xun shook her head and said sweetly, “Daddy, I really like this one. I’ll save Daddy some money—let’s just buy this dress.”
Caught off guard by yet another mouthful of sweetness, Li Chen rubbed his forehead helplessly, though the corners of his lips lifted slightly in a smile.
