Chapter 19: Pregnant—Stunned, Then an Abortion
When she woke up again, the room was filled with a strong medicinal smell that was quite pungent.
Nan Xun opened her eyes and, upon seeing the man sitting by the bed, shot upright. Confused, she asked, “Didn’t you go to favor those gorgeous demon beasts? What made you think of coming here?”
Nan Xun was genuinely puzzled, but to anyone else it sounded different—like jealousy, like a reproach tinged with resentment.
The Demon King’s gaze shifted slightly as he looked at her; a flicker of emotion flashed through his eyes.
“You’re pregnant,” the Demon King suddenly said.
Nan Xun froze for a moment, then her eyes widened and she went completely blank.
Before Nan Xun could even process the joy of becoming a mother, the Demon King abruptly brought a bowl of pitch-black medicine to her, his face expressionless as he ordered, “Drink it.”
Nan Xun stared dumbly at the black liquid exuding a bitter smell and asked foolishly, “What is this? A miscarriage-preventing medicine?”
The Demon King said nothing, only pressed his thin lips together. Something complex churned in his eyes.
Nan Xun glanced at Lu Sui and the others. They were kneeling on the ground, trembling; upon hearing the Demon King’s words, their bodies shook.
Suddenly, Nan Xun understood. This wasn’t medicine to protect the pregnancy—it was… an abortion potion.
Nan Xun looked at the man before her. As she stared, tears fell in large drops, and she cried as she asked, “Can I not drink it?”
The Demon King looked at her and said coldly, without a trace of mercy, “You cannot bear my child.”
Nan Xun asked nothing more. She took the bowl, tilted her head back, and drank it in one gulp. Her hand loosened, and the bowl smashed to the ground with a bang, shattering into pieces.
Nan Xun didn’t notice the Demon King’s fists suddenly clenching tightly—so tight that blood seeped from his palms.
“Little Eight, my heart hurts. This child really can’t be kept. I’m just a wandering soul—I can’t leave a child behind in any world. But thinking that I personally killed this unborn baby… I feel so guilty,” Nan Xun said softly, her eyes lowered, her expression mournful.
Even without the Demon King’s abortion potion, she wouldn’t have kept the child.
“In just a few months, I went through a wedding, pregnancy, and abortion. Heh…” That final dry laugh held countless traces of bitterness.
To her surprise, the Void Beast replied, “You’ve tasted all the bitterness this world has to offer. In the worlds that follow, you’ll be able to handle things with ease. This time was my mistake—I promise that in future missions, this kind of error won’t happen again.”
Nan Xun was startled. “Little Eight, you’re actually talking—aren’t you afraid the Demon King will discover you?”
The Void Beast snorted. “His mind is in turmoil right now. He doesn’t have the attention to spare for anything else.”
After seeing Nan Xun drink the medicine, the Demon King left. His departing figure looked somewhat desolate. Nan Xun didn’t bother with him—she turned her head inward and closed her eyes to rest.
The Demon King’s abortion potion really was good medicine. After drinking it, her belly didn’t hurt at all; in fact, she felt more energetic.
Suddenly hearing some strange noises, Nan Xun opened her eyes and turned her head—and was utterly shocked by what she saw.
Hong Chou was sticking her butt up, lying prone on the ground, stretching out her tongue and licking something on the floor!
“R-Hong Chou, what are you doing?” Nan Xun looked like she’d seen a ghost.
Zi Ling coughed lightly and explained, “When the Demon King left just now, a few drops of blood fell from his palm. Hong Chou spotted it immediately and rushed over to lick it up.”
Lu Sui also said regretfully, “Back when I was able to take human form, it was thanks to the Demon King granting me a drop of his blood. Just now, when I saw the blood on the ground, I was thinking of fetching a bottle to collect it—but who knew Hong Chou would be so fast!” As she spoke, she glared fiercely at Hong Chou.
Nan Xun’s mouth twitched as she looked at the only relatively normal one—Lan Shui.
Lan Shui smiled awkwardly and explained, “Madam doesn’t know? The Demon King’s blood contains immense demonic power. Everyone in the Demon Realm longs to obtain a single drop of his blood. However, aside from the Demon King himself, I’ve never seen anyone capable of making him bleed.”
Nan Xun nodded and didn’t ask why the Demon King was bleeding. She was in a bad mood, and soon pulled the blanket over herself and fell into a deep sleep.
Lan Shui exchanged a look with Lu Sui and the others, and they quietly withdrew.
“The reason the Demon King wouldn’t let Madam keep the child… could it be that he was afraid the child would take Madam’s life?” someone among the four whispered softly.
For several consecutive months, the Demon King didn’t come to the small hall where Nan Xun lived. It was said that he spent his days in endless revelry, with music and wine every night, living in extreme extravagance.
“Holy shit—the Demon King’s malice value suddenly dropped by ten!” the Void Beast suddenly yelled, startling Nan Xun, who was cracking melon seeds.
Nan Xun was overjoyed, yet also puzzled. “How did it drop so much all of a sudden? Could it be that the Demon King suddenly figured something out?”
After all, the Demon King was stingy as hell. Back when she worked so hard at the whole that-that-this-this routine, he’d at most drop five points. Later it became a pitiful one point, then 0.5 points. Dropping ten points at once was unprecedented!
Nan Xun suddenly clapped her hands. “I know! I heard that during this time, the Demon King has been bedding multiple women every night. He must have gained immense physical and mental satisfaction, discovered that there are such soul-melting pleasures in this world, and that’s why his malice value dropped so much.”
The Void Beast nodded in agreement. “Then should we help him find even more beauties?”
“No need for us to worry about that. Those old demons in the Demon Realm have practically gathered every beautiful demon beast there is. That should keep him entertained for quite a while.”
In a good mood, Nan Xun couldn’t help humming a tune. “Fa fei fa, fa wa fei fa, fa wa fa…”
“This song sounds so mournful,” Hong Chou said, rubbing her reddened eyes as she replaced Nan Xun’s plate of nuts.
Lu Sui and the others sighed. “Madam has started finding joy in bitterness.”
That night, Nan Xun had a dream. First, she smelled a rich, mellow scent of wine. Unable to resist, she drifted toward where the scent was strongest. That place was soft, a little cool. She leaned in and took a gentle sip.
In the end, she smacked her lips and hummed happily. “So sweet… mmm…”
The air around her suddenly grew scorching hot, an almost burning temperature binding her tightly within it.
Something stole her breath away. Her body felt cool for a moment, then hot…
The next morning, Nan Xun stared at the bluish-purple marks all over her body, completely dumbfounded.
“Little Eight, did the Demon King come last night?”
The Void Beast nodded. “I only know that he came. As for what happened after that, don’t ask me. Scenes that burn the eyes like that—I always auto-filter them. Besides, I don’t dare watch. If I stare too long, he’ll notice me.”
Nan Xun said that made sense, then asked, “Do you think the Demon King is sick or something? He already has so many beautiful demon women—why does he still come to mess with me?”
The Void Beast chuckled. “After thinking it over, I figure it’s probably because the body I found for you is a natural-born temptress, making him… unable to forget it?”
Nan Xun: “….”
