I Am the Lord in the World of Mist – CH47

"What, you're not convinced?"

Chapter 47: “What, you’re not convinced?”

After the [Restless] trait was reduced to level 1, Xu Zhi once again tried feeding the aberration a [Cup] attribute core.

It only needed one more core to level up, and this time, shortly after consuming it, the creature chose to evolve on its own.

[Familiar: Aberration Lv3]
Spirit: 0
Body: 210
Attribute: Cup
Traits: Bloodthirst Lv2, Stealth Lv1, Agility Lv1, Restless Lv1
Special Ability: None
Evolution Points: 50/200]

As expected, its Spirit stat remained at zero. But Bloodthirst had increased by one level, and at level 3, its Body stat had reached 210. If she remembered correctly, Gouzi only had 40 at level 3.

The difference was absurd.

But… no matter how strong its body was now, Xu Zhi didn’t dare let it roam free.

Even so, this familiar served as a clear example of how vast the gap was between these aberration species and humans or animals—far greater than she had originally imagined.

After the upgrade, the previously subdued urges of [Desire] and [Hunger] surged back within the aberration creature.

Xu Zhi had a bad feeling. She asked, “Don’t tell me I have to feed it blood every time it levels up?”

“Isn’t there a more permanent solution? I’m not some mobile blood bank!”

[There is, but it’s not achievable for now.]

“Then you could at least tell me what it is.”

[Feeding it a high-level Lamp attribute core after level 10 can suppress Restless.]

“…..I haven’t even seen a shadow of a Lamp core yet.”

Xu Zhi felt the condition was rather difficult.

After level 10—was that when intelligence would awaken?
Then the Spirit stat would probably remain zero until then.

[Exactly, that’s why I said it’s not possible for now.]

The narrator’s voice remained calm and emotionless.

“Fine, got it.”

She reluctantly pricked her finger again, not even bothering to clean it, and used the wound to fiercely feed more cores to the aberration. She force-fed it until it reached level 7.

[Familiar: aberration Lv7]
Mind: 0
Body: 550
Attribute: Cup
Traits: Bloodthirst Lv3, Stealth Lv1, Agility Lv1, Restless Lv2
Special Ability: None
Evolution Points: 150/750]

“Wait, why is Restless level 2 now?”

[Because it consumed too many Cup attribute cores at once—but it can still be suppressed.]

Xu Zhi glanced at the aberration, which looked nearly the same as before, and couldn’t help but sigh. “Why are these aberrations so delicate?”

But then she remembered—this was the [Cup] attribute. She had once inhabited a Cup-attribute spirit body, and it really was uncomfortable.

“Fine…”

She reluctantly fed it a few more drops of blood, finally suppressing the Restless caused by the level-ups.

“Good thing it’s me now—if it were the old me, I wouldn’t have had nearly enough blood to make you.”

As she fed it more cores, she grumbled. The aberration, still resembling a dried-up piece of wood, didn’t really understand what she was saying. It had almost no intelligence—at most, it could react to simple emotional cues in her tone, like when she questioned it earlier.

Now, though, her idle grumbling didn’t register at all. Its empty brain had no capacity to respond, making it seem like nothing more than a lifeless withered stick.

Pretty deceptive, really.

After feeding it way more blood than expected, Xu Zhi finally got the gluttonous creature to level 10.

[Familiar: Aberration Lv10]
Spirit: 1
Body: 1280
Traits: Bloodthirst Lv4, Stealth Lv2, Agility Lv3, Restless Lv1
Special Ability: None
Evolution Points: 0/1000]

[Congratulations, your familiar has reached level 10. Intelligence has awakened. You may now name it.]

Moved to tears!

Its Spirit stat actually increased by one full point!
It finally broke through zero!

Xu Zhi’s face remained expressionless. “Wow. Amazing.”

“So, its sign of intelligence awakening… is that 1 point in Spirit?”

[What, you not impressed?]
[Relax. You’ll find that even a single point is a big deal later.]

“Heh, it better be.”

It was naming time again—but this time, Xu Zhi already had a name in mind.

“It’s so dumb… let’s call it ‘Xiao Dai’.” (lit. “Little Dummy”)

Unlike before, when it had zero reaction like a hunk of wood, this time Xu Zhi clearly sensed a flicker of resistance and frustration—though it couldn’t really protest. Still, it was a sign of intelligence beginning to form.

One thing worth noting was that the aberration’s appearance had changed slightly after reaching level 10—it had branched.

It was subtle, but a tiny branch had sprouted from the “head” area, still looking like withered brown thorns.

Xu Zhi couldn’t quite make sense of how it was evolving. But aberration creatures always varied wildly—some were grotesque. Compared to those, hers might actually be considered fairly “normal.”

“Can it still not leave my side?” she asked.

[Correct. Though its intelligence has awakened, it’s still naive and cannot resist outside temptations. It needs strict discipline.]
[A [Lamp] attribute core would increase its resistance to such temptations.]

Hearing this, Xu Zhi sighed. “Lamp cores aren’t exactly easy to find around here.”

Still, it wasn’t impossible. Seemed like she’d have to accelerate her plans.

Seeing Xiao Dai temporarily behaving, Xu Zhi opened the spirit vessel interface and began save-scumming—using up otherwise useless cores to randomly generate the cheapest spirit body around the city and recording their locations.

After around 20 tries, she finally landed near the outer edge of the Nanshan Villa District again.

She noted the location, though it had cost nearly 100 cores to get there. Even though she used only one core per attempt, saving the randomized locations came with a high cost—though still cheaper than doing so outside the city.

It’s worth mentioning she had, on three occasions, randomly landed in the city center—and was instantly killed by surrounding aberrations as soon as her 2-second invincibility wore off.

The city center hadn’t changed: those aberrations still huddled together, silently waiting for something.

“Isn’t the chance of landing in the city center a bit too high?”

Cloud City was huge—with a city center, inner, middle, and outer rings, suburbs, rural zones, and vast mountain regions. Her current area was just a small part of the third ring.

The fact that she got the location she wanted within 20 tries was incredibly lucky. But hitting the city center three times in that batch? Clearly something was off.

Each of those three locations was different. Curious, Xu Zhi recorded them too.

“All right, time to get to the real mission.”

“Zhen, fly to the place you went before and wait for me.”

“Oh right—will entering a spirit body affect the aberration?”

She pointed at the creature and asked the system.

[No. It will stay beside your main body.]

“Good.”

Opening the window, the white saker falcon flapped its wings and flew into the dark mist. Xu Zhi sat back on the couch, preparing to enter the spirit body.

Well if cores seek similar attributes and abbiritions are cup, hers being mostly cup cores may increase odds of it being city center
