I Am a Landlady in the Apocalypse – CH328

Su Tao Gets Shot

Chapter 328: Su Tao Gets Shot

Ling Yu’s return surprised and delighted Su Tao.

After spending these days together, Ling Yu would still occasionally blurt out “Old Xue, Old Xue,” clearly not having truly forgotten its original owner. Su Tao considered setting it free—after all, forcing it to stay would do no good.

Yet, to her surprise, after eating its fill, Ling Yu really came back. Since that was the case, she decided to treat it well, just like her other furry companions. With time, their bond would naturally deepen.

The next day, Ling Yu was in great spirits and insisted on following Su Tao out. It obediently perched on her shoulder, quiet and observant, tilting its head to curiously watch its surroundings. It was unusually well-behaved.

It even handed her tissues during the car ride, understanding whatever she asked for.

Song Yuebin, watching all this, clicked his tongue in amazement. “I gotta say, Boss Su, you’ve got a real knack for attracting animals. It’s only been a few days, and this black bird is already treating you like its master.”

Su Tao knew the truth—it hadn’t really accepted her as its owner. It just trusted her the most, for now.

When they arrived at the trade fair entrance, everyone got out of the car one by one.

On the third day, the crowd had thinned compared to the first two days. However, the Taoyang booth still had a long queue, and business remained booming. Since it was the last day, many customers who had missed out earlier arrived before dawn to line up.

Yesterday, Zheng Xing played the role of the “milk tea guy,” while Mu An’an handled the cashier duties. Today, Lin Fangzhi and Qian Rongrong had taken over. Everything was running smoothly—until the people from Dingnan confronted Su Tao.

Jiao Qing’s husband led several burly men and blocked Su Tao—in the public restroom at the trade fair.

Su Tao was dumbfounded. The women’s restroom—seriously? These guys had no sense of propriety.

Jiao Qing’s husband aggressively cleared out the other women, leaving only Su Tao behind.

She calmly touched the bracelet on her wrist and asked, “Who are you people?”

His face twisted with rage as he stepped closer. “I should be asking you! My wife disappeared while she was with you! I don’t buy Zuo Ercheng’s story—only you know what really happened to her!”

Su Tao remained composed. “Oh, so you’re Mrs. Jiao’s husband. I was wondering. But why would I harm her? We don’t have any grudges.”

His face contorted further, and he seized her wrist in a death grip. “Don’t play dumb! I’ve already spoken to the Chu family’s eldest daughter—she told me everything. You must have done something to my wife!”

Su Tao’s expression darkened. “Let go.”

“Hah! Still acting tough? Boys, get her!”

The surrounding men closed in. Two of them even drew guns, their barrels aimed squarely at her head.

Jiao Qing’s husband flexed his wrists, and without warning, he swung a punch at her.

His fist enlarged mid-swing, gleaming with a metallic sheen—clearly enhanced by some special ability. If the punch landed, it would be devastating.

Su Tao’s mind went blank for a split second, and sheer instinct propelled her to dodge. She twisted aside, narrowly avoiding the blow.

Her breath hitched, and cold sweat broke out on her back. That punch could have shattered her skull. Her “precognition” ability had saved her life.

Jiao Qing’s husband staggered forward due to the force of his missed punch. Embarrassed by his failure, he roared, “Shoot her legs! Don’t let her escape! But keep her alive!”

“Bang! Bang! Bang!”

Gunfire echoed through the restroom.

Although Su Tao managed to evade two bullets, one struck her ankle, sending her crashing to the ground.

Jiao Qing’s husband strode forward and grabbed her by the collar, lifting her effortlessly.

Just as he was about to mock her, Su Tao snapped her black whip around his neck. The sudden constriction made him choke and instinctively release her.

She fell hard onto the floor, smacking her mouth and sending stars dancing across her vision.

Despite the pain, she forced herself up, dragging her injured leg while threatening the others, “Take one more step, and I’ll strangle him!”

Jiao Qing’s husband was already turning purple, struggling for breath.

Her captors hesitated, eventually stepping aside to let her through.

Dragging Jiao Qing’s husband like a tethered dog, Su Tao limped out of the restroom—just as Jiang Yu rushed over. His face paled when he saw the blood trickling from her ankle.

“I told you not to panic,” Su Tao said, cutting him off. “Call Chairman Zuo—or no, get Minister Xu immediately!”

At that moment, Minister Xu was patrolling Xindu’s security with Ling Tianji. When he received the call, his brows furrowed deeply.

“How did a shooting happen in broad daylight?” he asked coldly.

Ling Tianji’s heart skipped a beat. Oh no.

Xu handed him the communicator. “Answer it.”

Ling Tianji felt an ominous chill down his spine—this was bad. “Hello?”

The voice on the other end belonged to Xu’s assistant: “Mr. Ling, there’s been an incident at the trade fair. Mr. Hu from Dingnan Base kidnapped Miss Su from Taoyang in the women’s restroom and shot her. The situation is serious—it even scared off many customers.”

Hearing Su Tao’s name made Ling Tianji want to crawl into a hole. Of all people, why did it have to be her?

Desperate to fix things, he promised Xu that Dingnan would be held accountable and that Miss Su would get justice. But after hanging up, Minister Xu said coolly, “Mr. Ling, shouldn’t Xindu, as the leading southern base, maintain better law and order? This isn’t the first time someone’s disrupted our trade fair rules.”

The implication was clear—Xindu’s authority was slipping.

Ling Tianji clenched his teeth. This disaster was Zuo Ercheng’s fault, and the Dingnan troublemakers would pay dearly for it.

He personally drove Minister Xu to the nearby hospital to visit Su Tao.

By then, Su Tao had multiple external injuries—aside from the gunshot wound to her ankle, her joints were bruised and scraped. Most humiliating of all, a chunk of her front tooth had chipped off.

It wasn’t too noticeable… hopefully, Dr. Zhong could fix it.
