I Am a Landlady in the Apocalypse – CH291

Su Tao, What Exactly Do You Dislike About Me?

Chapter 291: Su Tao, What Exactly Do You Dislike About Me?

Su Tao was stunned.

Lei Xing’s golden eyes were even more intense than usual as he said,

“Why isn’t it appropriate? What’s wrong with it? Today, you must give me five reasons—one, two, three, four, five. If you can’t convince me, then you’ll have to accept this gift whether you like it or not!”

Su Tao wasn’t angry. She poured him a cup of tea and pushed it toward him.

“Big Brother Lei, two people either suit each other or they don’t. There’s no need for a list of reasons.”

Lei Xing retorted, “And you think you and Shi Zijin suit each other? From what I see, you two don’t match at all! At least I know how to protect my own woman. Other people mean nothing to me!”

He was clearly trying hard to suppress his emotions. Not only had his ears appeared, but his tail had also emerged, though it drooped low.

Su Tao even noticed his fangs had grown sharper…

She sighed softly and murmured,

“Maybe I’m not suited for him either. Lei Xing, what’s so great about me? You’ve traveled far and wide, met plenty of smart, beautiful, and capable women. I’m sure there are those willing to fight alongside you. You’re like an eagle—the apocalypse is an opportunity for you, a stage for you. Keeping you confined to this small place in Taoyang would be a waste.”

After everything that had happened, she still leaned toward finding a partner who would stay with her in Taoyang, building a future together.

Zhuang Wan envied her ability to construct towering buildings in an instant.

But Su Tao envied Dr. Zhong, who had given up everything just to stay in Taoyang and spend his days by her side.

Her words, however, did nothing to convince Lei Xing.

“I don’t care about anyone else. No matter how big or prosperous another place is, I don’t want it. Su Tao, what exactly do you dislike about me? I’m a straightforward man—I don’t like beating around the bush. If you have any complaints, just say it. I’ll change.”

Su Tao was speechless.

Did she really have to spell it out?

That she simply didn’t feel that way about him?

That she had no romantic or physical attraction to him at all?

Under Lei Xing’s scorching gaze, she forced herself to say it.

Her tone was even harsher than usual—she just didn’t want him to waste any more time on her.

She genuinely believed Lei Xing had a special kind of charm—one that had nothing to do with romance or attraction.

He was like a cheetah sprinting at full speed, with the herd as his destined prey. Even dangerous lions and tigers had to submit to him. He was wild, untamed, and full of life.

Romance was just a momentary distraction for him.

Lei Xing closed his eyes, his clenched fist loosening and tightening repeatedly.

Suddenly, he stood up. “Take your time eating. I’ve already paid the bill.”

Su Tao didn’t even have time to stop him before the door to the private room was forcefully pushed open.

A waitress rushed in, flustered. “Miss, you can’t—”

A tall, striking young woman with sharp, cold features stepped inside. The moment she saw Lei Xing, her eyes flared with anger.

“So you are here!”

Chu Yue’s expression darkened the moment she spotted Su Tao. She turned to Lei Xing, furious.

“You two schemed to fool me—for this brat?”

She was both shocked and enraged.

At first, she had only suspected Lei Xing was hiding something from her. Curiosity led her to follow him.

She never expected to catch him on a date!

Lei Xing had never taken the initiative to ask a woman out before!

It had to be this brat who seduced him!

So young, yet so full of tricks!

Lei Xing hadn’t expected Chu Yue to follow him, let alone barge in like this. His already bad mood instantly worsened.

“Chu Yue! Do I need to report to you who I’m having a meal with? Who exactly are you to me? Even delusions have their limits!”

His words were harsh, making Chu Yue tremble with anger.

“Lei Xing, don’t go too far! Even if I was being delusional, it’s still better than using underhanded tricks to seduce you!”

Su Tao was completely dumbfounded.

Was She Talking About Me?

It really seemed like she was talking about her!

Lei Xing’s expression darkened completely. In two strides, he crossed the room and yanked Chu Yue over, forcing her to stand in front of Su Tao.

“Apologize to her!”

Chu Yue’s eyes widened. “Why should I?”

She was the treasured daughter of the Chu family. Since childhood, others had always apologized to her—never the other way around!

Lei Xing said coldly, “Because you’re talking nonsense and slandering her without proof!”

Chu Yue found it laughable.

“Am I wrong? What on earth about this brat could possibly attract you? She’s not stunningly beautiful, her figure is nothing special—I even doubt she’s of age! Without using tricks, how could she have lured you into having a meal with her?!”

Su Tao was so stunned by her words that she immediately looked down at her own modest chest, then glanced at Chu Yue’s impressive curves.

Her expression changed drastically.

She felt humiliated!

Pointing at Chu Yue, Su Tao snapped, “That’s a personal attack! If you want to chase after Lei Xing, go right ahead, but leave me out of it! Here, take the private room—I’m leaving!”

With that, she turned and walked away.

Lei Xing instinctively moved to follow her, but Su Tao waved him off. “Major General Shi is waiting for me downstairs. You two can continue your conversation.”

Lei Xing froze in place.

Chu Yue, on the other hand, stomped her foot in frustration. “What do you mean by that, brat?! Letting me have him? As if I need your charity?!”

Lei Xing clenched his fists, barely restraining the urge to hit her.

“Chu Yue, this is my final warning—stay out of my life! I don’t care if your last name is Chu or not, but if you keep pushing me, I will go to your house and make a scene again!”

Chu Yue stiffened, her anger cooling slightly.

She recalled the last time Lei Xing had confronted her at the Chu estate—it had been humiliating beyond words. Later, her father had scolded her so harshly that she had been utterly disgraced.

Lei Xing was absolutely the type to storm into the Chu household and turn everything upside down, ruining both their reputation and dignity.

Gritting her teeth, she forced herself to swallow her pride. “I was just giving you a friendly reminder. Girls these days are full of tricks—you better be careful not to fall for one.”

Lei Xing didn’t even spare her a glance before turning on his heel and walking away.

Su Tao got into the car and sat in the passenger seat, looking visibly upset.

Shi Zijin glanced upstairs but didn’t see Lei Xing. Without any change in expression, he asked, “Didn’t go well?”

Su Tao huffed, still angry. “I ran into a mad dog.”

Shi Zijin mused over her words. So, in her mind, Lei Xing had been demoted from a leopard to a mad dog?

He felt a slight sense of satisfaction but didn’t show it. Instead, he said calmly, “You haven’t eaten, have you? I’ll take you to get some food.”

From the short amount of time they spent upstairs, it was obvious they had been too busy arguing to eat.

Su Tao shook her head. “No appetite. Just take me home. And on the way, let’s stop by the parking lot to check on my car.”

Shi Zijin’s good mood dampened slightly.

Even if Lei Xing was out of the picture, there was still Gu Mingchi, who kept giving her gifts.

Neither of them spoke during the drive. When they arrived at the parking lot, Su Tao had barely opened the car door when she heard a heated argument.

An elderly mechanic’s face was red with anger as he shouted,

“I don’t care who you are! As long as this car is in my hands, I won’t let you damage it! If you have a problem with the owner, take it up with them directly! Taking out your anger on someone’s car while they’re not here? I’ve never seen such unreasonable people!”

A young woman sneered arrogantly,

“Do you even know who I am? Forget just this car—if I wanted to smash every single car in this parking lot, no one would dare to stop me!”

Another younger girl, emboldened by her words, chimed in smugly,

“Exactly! My sister is President Zhuo’s wife! If you know what’s good for you, you’d better back off!”

From a distance, Su Tao immediately recognized them.

The eldest woman was the same one who had blocked her car on the road that day!

And the youngest girl—wasn’t she the one from the Deng family who had pretended to be innocent in front of Shi Zijin?

So the Deng mother and daughter hadn’t died on the road after all?
