I Am a Landlady in the Apocalypse – CH173

Boss Su’s Impressive Marksmanship

Chapter 173: Boss Su’s Impressive Marksmanship

The gun was one that Shi Zijin had purchased for Su Tao to practice aiming and shooting. She usually kept it in a holster alongside her energy gun, ready for emergencies.

Chen Yang lifted his head to look at the streetlamp. The determination in his eyes quickly faded, replaced by hesitation.

Sixty meters… The streetlamps in Taoyang were tall, and the lamp head was small. Hitting it was no easy feat.

Holding the gun tightly, he pursed his lips, feeling immense pressure.

Lei Xing, the troublemaker responsible for all this, had been watching the show for a while before finally stepping in to help.

“Boss Su, this is a bit tough on the kid, don’t you think? That distance is pretty far. How about aiming for that trash can instead? Thirty meters should be fair.”

Chen Yang immediately looked at Lei Xing with deep gratitude.

At thirty meters, he was almost guaranteed to hit the target.

Zhuang Wan shot Lei Xing a glare. This damned leopard keeps leading the kid astray.

But Su Tao was unyielding. “Sixty meters. When you’re out there, you’ll be facing zombies and desperate survivors. Thirty meters won’t even give you enough shots to save your life.”

Shi Zijin had trained her the same way. For ordinary people without special abilities, only long-range shooting could give them an advantage—close combat was practically a death sentence.

Since Su Tao had spoken, Lei Xing didn’t dare argue further. He simply shrugged at Chen Yang as if to say, You’re on your own, kid. That’s all I can do for you.

Chen Yang never dared to bargain with Su Tao, so with a long face, he took a deep breath, chambered the round, and aimed.

Su Tao noticed that his posture was quite standard—surprising.

Zhuang Wan was even more shocked. This kid actually looks the part. Maybe he wasn’t just fooling around with Leopard Path these past few weeks.

A few dozen seconds later, the bullet shot toward the streetlamp. With a thunk, it struck the pole—not the target, but only about ten centimeters off.

For someone Chen Yang’s age, that was impressive.

Lei Xing whistled and clapped first. “Nice improvement, kid!”

But Chen Yang, knowing he had missed, looked downcast. He returned the gun to Su Tao, head bowed, eyes red-rimmed.

Su Tao patted his shoulder. “Keep practicing.”

In her mind, though, she was already thinking—The kid’s growing up. He’s got some skill now. Maybe it’s time to get him his own gun.

Chen Yang nodded firmly.

Just then, Fire Snake, who had come over to watch the fun, spoke up with a smirk.

“Boss Su, you’re being way too strict. This kid’s got talent. A month of training and he’s already at this level—that’s really good! Honestly, you probably don’t even shoot as well as he does.”

Chen Yang immediately bristled.

“Brother Snake, don’t talk nonsense! Sister Tao once shot and killed two evolved zombies. She’s definitely better than me!”

Fire Snake narrowed his eyes. “You little brat, I was sticking up for you, and now you’re talking back?”

Chen Yang muttered, “Facts are facts. You can’t just say whatever you want.”

Fire Snake scoffed. “What do you mean ‘whatever I want’? You think killing evolved zombies is that easy? They move so fast.”

He might as well have outright accused Chen Yang of exaggerating.

Chen Yang, young as he was, understood the implication. His face turned red with anger.

“You don’t believe it because you’ve never seen it!”

Fire Snake, ever sharp-tongued, smirked. “Who was it that’s never left Dongyang and begged us to take him out to see the world?”

Chen Yang was so furious he looked like he might burst into tears.

Lei Xing, seeing things escalate, smacked Fire Snake on the back of the head. “Quit messing with the kid. You spend all day bickering with children.”

Then he turned to Su Tao with a grin.

“Boss Su, Chen Yang’s made you sound like a sharpshooting legend. How about giving us a little demonstration? I’m really curious now.”

Su Tao crossed her arms. “Just because you ask, I have to perform?”

Lei Xing grinned wider. “Come on, consider it a farewell gift. When we first arrived in Taoyang, we even brought a gift, remember?”

Men could be so annoyingly persistent when they got clingy!

Su Tao sighed in defeat. She squared her stance, chambered a round, and aimed. Just as she was about to pull the trigger, an image flashed through her mind—

She saw the bullet fly and shatter the streetlamp.

She froze.

She looked down at her gun—she hadn’t even pulled the trigger yet.

Su Tao shook her head, frowning deeply.

What the hell was that?

To Fire Snake, though, her hesitation just made it seem like she wasn’t confident in her shot.

Even Zhuang Wan started to wonder—Has Boss not been shooting for so long that she’s gone rusty?

Chen Yang, Su Tao’s #1 fan, held his breath, not daring to make a sound.

Of course, Su Tao had no idea what they were thinking. She narrowed one eye again and aimed, this time deliberately shifting her target slightly off.

And again, the vision came.

This time, the bullet didn’t hit the streetlamp—it veered off into the sky and vanished.

A chill ran down Su Tao’s spine. She looked at her gun again. She still hadn’t pulled the trigger. The bullet was still inside.

Could it be…

A guess formed in her mind. She felt a thrill of excitement. Taking a deep breath, she aimed properly this time and fired.

The bullet whistled through the air—

And struck the streetlamp dead center, shattering it into pieces.

Lei Xing’s eyes sparkled. “Boss Su, damn, nice shooting!”

Chen Yang clapped so hard his hands hurt.

Zhuang Wan, feeling proud, added, “Our boss was trained by Major General Shi himself. And with her natural talent, this distance is nothing.”

Fire Snake thought to himself, No wonder—Dongyang’s top major general personally trained her. She must have some real skills.

Still, deep down, he found it hard to believe that a regular person like Boss Su could have actually taken down two evolved zombies. It just seemed too far-fetched.

Lei Xing walked over with a bright grin.

“Well, I’ve received my farewell gift. It’s time for us to head out. See you around, Boss Su.”

He turned to his crew.

“Alright, guys—got everything packed? Get in the car!”

Chen Yang was practically on the verge of tears with envy as he watched Leopard Path and the others hop into their sleek, modified vehicle and speed away, leaving a trail of dust behind.

Su Tao gave his neck a light squeeze and said, “Tomorrow, I’ll take you to buy a proper gun.”

The happiness came so suddenly that Chen Yang’s eyes welled up with tears. “Really?”

Su Tao tilted her chin toward Zhuang Wan. “Ask her.”

Zhuang Wan sighed, rubbing her forehead. “Looks like studying really isn’t your thing. Fine, we’ll buy it. You little debt collector.”

“Mom, you’re the best! I love you!”
