I Am a Landlady in the Apocalypse – CH122

Pathetic, Despicable!

Chapter 122: Pathetic, Despicable!

Lei Xing noticed her shock and seemed a little proud of himself.

“It’s a type of spatial ability. Whenever we need it, we just tell him to spit everything out.”

Su Tao: “…That’s impressive.”

But she still preferred Fang Zhi’s ability—at least it was more polite.

Lei Xing continued, “Boss Su, do you have any vacant rooms? We haven’t accepted any suitable missions recently, so we’d like to stay in Taoyang for a while.”

Fire Serpent and the other team members all looked at Su Tao expectantly.

Su Tao asked, “How long do you mean by ‘a while’? The minimum rental period here is one month.”

“How much is the monthly rent? Do you have a list of room types and prices?”

Su Tao called Zhuang Wan over to introduce Leopard’s Path to the rental options, while she stepped aside to take a call from Pei Dong.

“We caught one of the bombers, but it’s not Su Zhengqing. His name is Fei Pengyi, an unemployed drifter from Dongyang. He knows how to make bombs, but due to limited materials and skill, they’re not very powerful.”

“The bomb strapped to Wu Feichi’s corpse the other day was made by him.”

Before Pei Dong even finished speaking, Su Tao suddenly heard a man’s vicious cursing through the communicator—

“Damn the City Defense Army! You bastards are just Tao Yang’s lackeys! One day, I, Fei Pengyi, will kill you all! One bomb isn’t enough? Then I’ll throw two, three, a hundred! I’ll—MMPH!”

CRACK!

Pei Dong kicked him hard in the jaw, sending two bloody teeth flying.

Su Tao asked, “Where are you?”

“Right outside Taoyang’s southeastern wall. My men caught him while he was trying to throw another bomb inside, but we disarmed it in time.”

Su Tao clenched her teeth in fury.

“Sister Pei, bring him inside. I want to ask him myself—what the hell does he have against Taoyang?!”

She just couldn’t understand. What kind of grudge was so deep that this man wanted to kill everyone inside Taoyang?

Less than fifteen minutes later, Pei Dong’s subordinates dragged Fei Pengyi into Tao Yang.

Along the way, he kept cursing non-stop, spewing the filthiest insults he could think of.

But the moment he stepped inside Tao Yang and saw its thriving community—the newly built two-story clinic—he suddenly burst into hysterical laughter.

“Hahahaha—Taoyang? A ‘Peach Blossom Spring’? A utopia? You people are such hypocrites!”

“People outside struggle just to survive, while you all eat well, live comfortably, and don’t even have to worry about getting sick. If you get injured, you just take a few steps into this little clinic and wait for an ability user to heal you. Out there, if someone falls, they can only wait for death!”

Fei Pengyi’s bloodshot eyes glared straight at Su Tao as he roared, his mouth full of blood.

“Do you know how my mother died?! It’s because you people kept rejecting my application! You never let us move in, and in the end, she died from her illness!”

“She just fell! You have ability users—why didn’t you let us in so they could heal her?! Why could others get in, but not us?!”

“Her death is on you! Every single person living in Taoyang is a murderer!”

The more Su Tao listened, the more shocked she became.

Just as she was about to call Zhuang Wan over to clarify, Lei Xing suddenly flashed forward, moving at lightning speed. In an instant, he struck Fei Pengyi, slamming him onto the ground.

Fei Pengyi’s vision went black, stars exploding before his eyes.

Lei Xing spat on him. “Why are you asking so many ‘whys’? You’re a grown man—have you not lived through the apocalypse? This world follows the law of the jungle—the strong make the rules. Your mother died because you were too weak. And now you want to blame Boss Su? Sounds to me like you have a death wish.”

Pei Dong was equally cold. She ordered her men to gag him and turned to Su Tao.

“Just ignore him. I’ll take him away and wait for Major Shi to deal with him.”

Su Tao held her back. “Wait.” She called Zhuang Wan over and questioned her carefully.

Zhuang Wan had an excellent memory. The moment she saw Fei Pengyi, she immediately remembered. She couldn’t hold back her usual gentle and refined demeanor—her anger burst out.

“It’s him! He threatened Rong Rong, saying he’d kill everyone if we didn’t let him move in! My god, he’s insane! No job, a gambling addiction—and he was proud of making bombs! He even bragged about killing wandering survivors on his housing application! How could we possibly approve it?!”

Su Tao yanked the tape off Fei Pengyi’s mouth. “Let me ask you—why didn’t you take your mother to Dongyang Hospital?”

Fei Pengyi stared at her with pure hatred, spat out a mouthful of blood, and sneered. “You’re not worthy of knowing. Let’s be real—you people look down on people like us. If I were a general or an admiral, you’d send an ability user to pull out a splinter for me. You so-called saviors—Taoyang is just a paradise for the privileged, nothing more than lapdogs serving the powerful!”

SMACK!

Su Tao slapped him hard.

“The real hypocrite here is you! Every word you’re saying is just to cover up your own mistakes! Why didn’t you take her to Dongyang Hospital?! Because you gambled away all the money for medical treatment! And now, to escape guilt and responsibility, you’re pushing all the blame onto Taoyang, expecting others to pay for your failures!”

“Your mother’s fate is both tragic and infuriating!”

The entire room fell silent. A pin drop could be heard.

Her words struck straight at Fei Pengyi’s heart, ripping apart his pride and self-deception.

His eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Su Tao, screaming and spewing filthy curses.

Su Tao reached out toward Lin Fangzhi.

Sensing her intent, Lin Fangzhi pulled a handgun from his spatial storage and handed it to her.

With a blank expression, Su Tao loaded the gun and aimed it directly at Fei Pengyi’s face.

“Say one more word, and I’ll make sure you never speak again.”

The curses stopped instantly.

“Now answer me—who decided to do what you did to Lan Lingling?”

Fei Pengyi gritted his teeth. “She deserved it. A woman like that, selling herself for a bit of food and betraying men—she should have been played to death. I was just teaching her a lesson on behalf of my brothers. I even showed mercy—otherwise, she would’ve died along with that Wu bastard.”

Su Tao’s eyes turned icy cold. The gun shifted downward—

BANG!

A bloodcurdling scream echoed through the room as Fei Pengyi collapsed to his knees, howling in agony.

Every man present instinctively tensed, feeling a cold chill in their nether regions.

Su Tao turned to Pei Dong. “Sister Pei, take him away. Let me know if there’s any news on Su Zhengqing.”

Pei Dong gave her an approving look and waved her hand.

Two City Defense soldiers immediately grabbed Fei Pengyi and dragged him out. As they pulled him away, one of them sneered:

“You ungrateful bastard. If it weren’t for Taoyang, you’d be starving and dying of thirst just like the rest of the wretches in those other bases. You really don’t know what’s good for you…”
