Chapter 87: Experimental Data, Eliminating a Public Threat
In the back kitchen, Su Ning discovered a massive stash of energy bars—astonishingly, more than a dozen crates, each containing thousands of bars.
Without hesitation, Su Ning stored all the energy bars into her scavenger backpack.
Next, she began collecting the often-overlooked water sources.
While she was doing this, Dex suddenly received a message on his wristwatch:
[Alert] Uprising at Mining Site 123. The Colonial Corporation has dispatched support forces!
Almost immediately, a second message followed:
[Directive] In response to the riot at Mining Site 123, the Corporation has devised a resolution plan. Upon review, the site has been deemed unprofitable and is now officially abandoned. Except for corporate executives, all personnel will be forsaken—and silenced.
Su Ning was shocked upon reading this. She murmured, “Silenced?”
She could hardly believe it. She glanced at her newly obtained ID card—it listed her as an ordinary employee, far from any executive level.
That meant she was also on the list to be eliminated.
Su Ning quickly realized that it was no longer safe to collect supplies at a leisurely pace.
She checked the time: 1 hour remained until the support forces arrived.
Su Ning muttered, “One hour is enough to grab everything I need.”
Without wasting a second, she resumed collecting water.
Once finished, she made her way without hesitation to Fei Wenli’s private quarters.
Despite the chaos outside, this area was still heavily guarded—evidence of its importance and secrecy.
When Su Ning tried to enter the underground lab, the bio-soldiers immediately noticed and moved to block her.
But Su Ning didn’t flinch.
She knew time was short and decisive action was necessary.
With a wave of her hand, Unit One, Unit Two, and the Rat King (still under the zombie’s control) appeared beside her.
These were Su Ning’s three strongest fighters—and now, all were deployed.
The bio-soldiers were startled by the sudden appearance of these figures and instantly realized that Su Ning was not here with friendly intentions. They tried to stop her—but it was too late.
Unit One raised its Gatling gun and, with zero hesitation, activated infinite ammo mode, unleashing a torrential barrage of bullets that instantly engulfed the enemies.
Unit Two used its specialized ability to drill through the bio-soldiers’ bodies on contact, opening fatal holes in them.
Meanwhile, the Rat King went on a frenzy, shredding any bio-soldier it touched into pieces.
Su Ning herself held the annihilation gun she’d picked up earlier, and with her “Deadshot” skill, every shot landed perfectly.
Each bio-soldier hit by her blasts disintegrated into wisps of black smoke, vanishing from existence.
However, despite the gun’s impressive power, Su Ning quickly discovered a major drawback: the ammo depleted almost immediately.
“This thing hits hard… but it only has five shots? That’s way too little!”
She didn’t hesitate—she tossed the annihilation gun to Unit One.
“Let’s see if your ‘Bullet Storm’ skill can turn this into an infinite-ammo death machine.”
Sure enough, Unit One activated the gun, and it did not disappoint.
Bullet Storm + Annihilation Gun = Devastating Firepower.
The bio-soldiers guarding the lab stood no chance.
With the resistance cleared, Su Ning descended to sublevel two of the underground facility.
To her surprise, she found herself not in a vault of treasures—but in a study.
This was far from what she had expected.
Su Ning frowned. She had assumed this place would be packed with valuable loot. The reality was underwhelming.
But then she thought, Why would so many guards be protecting a study? There must be something important here.
She checked the time—still a little while before the support forces would arrive.
She began searching the study for clues or anything valuable.
And sure enough, her efforts paid off.
After a thorough search, Su Ning discovered a trove of Fei Wenli’s experimental research data.
These records covered various horrifying topics: animal gene modification, human genetic mutation, lung crystal disease research, new human inducement, and even head and skin transplantation experiments.
Su Ning opened the animal gene research files and was stunned—she had seemingly opened Pandora’s box.
The files contained shocking amounts of data and grotesque results.
As she flipped to the section on head and skin transplants, Su Ning finally understood just how twisted Fei Wenli really was.
“No wonder she’s actually an old hag, but looked so seductive and youthful… She literally stole the appearances of beautiful young women.”
Fei Wenli had no moral boundaries. She experimented on herself just to stay beautiful.
At the center of all these experiments was a key item—energy crystals.
Su Ning activated her Scavenger’s Eye and scanned the room.
Eventually, she found a safe that stood out from the rest.
Rather than forcing it open, she simply took the entire crystal-storage case into her space.
Though she didn’t fully understand the value of all the documents, she instinctively stored everything in her inventory space as well.
Just as Su Ning was preparing to leave Fei Wenli’s private quarters, she suddenly heard faint footsteps outside.
Alert, she turned toward the door—and saw a bloodied, battered figure limping in.
It was none other than… Fei Wenli.
Her condition was awful.
The once-beautiful woman now looked utterly disfigured, her face soaked in blood. She was practically unrecognizable.
Why had Fei Wenli come here?
Upon seeing Su Ning, her eyes flashed with rage—then quickly shifted back to coldness and cruelty.
“Well, well… didn’t expect to find a little rat hiding here.”
She didn’t seem surprised by Su Ning’s betrayal. In this brutal world, loyalty was a luxury.
The truth was, Fei Wenli hadn’t kept Su Ning around for her desserts—but for her exquisite beauty.
She had planned to graft Su Ning’s face onto her own when the time was right.
At that thought, a greedy and venomous glint appeared in Fei Wenli’s eyes.
She activated her Petrifying Gaze, hoping to turn Su Ning into a lifeless statue.
But Su Ning had been prepared.
With a flick of her hand, Honghong and a swarm of emerald wasps flew out from her space ring.
Tiny arcs of electricity flickered through the air, forming a dense electric web.
Fei Wenli hadn’t expected this and couldn’t dodge in time. The electric current surged through her body, making her convulse violently.
She let out a series of painful, guttural screams.
“AAAAAAHHH!”
Honghong had gone full Thunder Lord Mode, electrocuting her with precision.
Fei Wenli, already severely injured, couldn’t endure the attack—and died on the spot.
Su Ning felt nothing.
Eliminating Fei Wenli was a public service.
She casually tossed Fei Wenli’s corpse into her space, where Huahua—the corpse-eating flower—consumed it entirely.
Moments later, Su Ning sensed more people approaching.
She quickly recalled Units One and Two.
When Andy and the others arrived, they found Su Ning standing there alone.
