Chapter 76: New Humans, Annihilation Gun, Blue Stone Ore
Seeing Andy’s expression, Su Ning suspected the disease might actually be curable, albeit the chances were extremely slim.
Could it be that she was trying to hide something?
Su Ning didn’t believe Andy approached her just to make friends.
Claiming she was “different” — even Su Ning herself found that hard to believe.
After all, there were plenty of players more unique and exceptional than her.
Su Ning turned to look at the other players who had entered the dungeon. Some of their actions and styles were even more flamboyant than her own low-key demeanor. Each had their own strengths and quirks.
At that moment, Su Ning noticed a slender player with ashen-brown hair.
His eyes sparkled as he stared at the surrounding ores, completely fascinated.
To everyone’s shock, he squatted down, scooped up a handful of excavated mineral fragments, and without hesitation — licked them with his tongue.
Immediately after, something shocking occurred — his body began rapidly turning to stone.
This scene left not only the players dumbfounded, but also startled the nearby natives.
They stared at him in fear, muttering:
“A New Human?”
“This guy is actually a New Human!”
[Player: Linklair]
Talent: Rock Skin
Through transforming his skin into hardened rock, he can enhance his defense. He can also consume various minerals and stones to strengthen his defensive state.
“This Linklair’s Rock Skin talent seems perfect for this dungeon.”
With so many minerals around, he could boost himself just by devouring ores.
Linklair was visibly thrilled. At first, he had thought the four-year mission duration was too long, but now he had completely forgotten about that.
As he licked the local ores, he immediately felt his talent rapidly growing stronger.
He could sense his body changing — becoming more powerful.
“These ores… they’re extraordinary. The energy inside them is unbelievable,”
he whispered to himself in excitement.
But as he reveled in his joy, a squad of cyborgs suddenly appeared and surrounded him.
The natives didn’t seem surprised. Some even looked at Linklair with pity, but the players were bewildered — they had no idea what was about to happen.
Andy hurriedly pulled Su Ning back, warning her:
“Step back. That New Human is done for.”
Su Ning asked in confusion, “Why?”
Andy explained, “These cyborgs are the mine’s enforcers. If anyone tries to steal or sabotage the mine, they’ll launch an attack without hesitation.”
Su Ning was about to argue that Linklair hadn’t done either of those things.
Andy continued, “But since miner No.1076 revealed supernatural powers, he’s now classified as a New Human. And in the territory governed by the colonial company, no New Humans are allowed. They believe those with supernatural abilities are a threat to the company’s rule, and they eliminate them without mercy.”
Andy’s words left Su Ning shocked and confused.
She hadn’t expected that being a New Human would carry such immense danger.
She realized now that she’d have to hide her powers — if exposed, she’d be eliminated by the company just like Linklair.
As she thought about how to protect herself, Su Ning glanced at Linklair again.
The Western player apparently had no clue about this rule and was still trying to fight back.
Although he had powerful Rock Skin, he was no match for advanced sci-fi weaponry.
One of the cyborgs pulled out a special weapon and aimed it at Linklair. The weapon emitted a blue glow — and in a flash — hit Linklair.
In the next second, Linklair’s entire body disintegrated into ash and vanished without a trace.
Su Ning widened her eyes in disbelief, inhaling deeply to calm her pounding heart.
She knew now wasn’t the time to panic — she had to stay composed.
[Annihilation Gun]
A special eradication weapon powered by Energy Crystals.
To her surprise, Su Ning noticed that her mission target — “Energy Crystals” — was mentioned in relation to the Annihilation Gun.
After erasing the threat, the cyborgs swiftly exited the mine.
Andy looked at Su Ning with a helpless expression and asked:
“This isn’t a safe place. Why did you even come here?”
Su Ning didn’t answer directly. Instead, she asked:
“If it’s so dangerous, why don’t you leave?”
Andy hoisted a mining shovel nearly as tall as she was and slammed it into the ground, producing a dull thud.
She explained bitterly, “No one here is staying willingly. Working long-term in these harsh conditions will eventually lead to Lung Crystal Disease. But leaving? That’s not our decision to make.”
“Miner No.1008, Miner No.1-3334, complete your tasks. Cease all further conversation.”
A deep, authoritative male voice rang out.
Su Ning turned to see a middle-aged man wearing gold-rimmed glasses. His gaze was cold and sharp, chilling to the bone.
Su Ning figured he must be the one overseeing their work.
Andy visibly flinched at the sound of his voice, clearly afraid of him.
She immediately shut her mouth, lowered her head, and began furiously digging at the ground.
A tense atmosphere settled over the mine. Everyone worked cautiously, afraid of triggering trouble.
Su Ning also began quietly digging, her mind racing.
As she dug with her pickaxe, she kept observing her surroundings.
“The surveillance here is airtight. I must be extremely cautious. I can’t let anyone know I have spatial abilities. If I’m discovered, I might end up like Linklair — dead.”
Despite her concern, she was thankful for her Scavenger’s Eye talent, which was subtle and hard to detect.
“Clang!”
With a solid hit from her mining shovel, a pale blue crystal chunk appeared before her.
[Blue Stone Ore]
A special mineral with powerful heat-resistant and cold-insulating properties.
“This is…”
Just as Su Ning reached out to collect the ore, someone bumped into her — hard.
She staggered and nearly fell.
Turning around, she saw a short, monkey-faced man grinning as he snatched up the Blue Stone Ore she had just mined.
“Hah! What luck! Found myself a Blue Stone Ore!”
Su Ning reached out her hand coldly and said:
“Sorry, that’s mine.”
The monkey-faced man glanced at her dismissively:
“Tsk tsk, little girl, you say it’s yours? Does it answer when you call it?”
