Doomsday: Scavenging in a Survival Game – CH12

The Visit, Livestock Farm Instance Begins

Chapter 12: The Visit, Livestock Farm Instance Begins

Seeing the crowd gathered at her doorstep, Su Ning couldn’t help but feel confused and puzzled.

However, when she noticed the four people standing at the front, she instantly understood why so many had gathered here.

A hint of obvious disgust flashed across her eyes.

“Su Ning, you little brat, why are you back so late? Don’t you know we’ve been waiting for you for ages? You really have no manners! How dare you let your elders wait for you?”

One of the four, a middle-aged man, spoke impatiently, though his eyes kept scanning Su Ning’s hands, as if looking for something important.

This man was Su Zonggang, Su Ning’s eldest uncle.

The other three standing beside him were his family members.

Her aunt-in-law, Li Yun, stepped forward, rudely pulling Su Zonggang behind her. With a fake smile, she said to Su Ning, “Su Ning, we heard that you got a job at Shelter No. 6, so we came specially to ask—would you be willing to give that job to your cousin?”

Su Ning was stunned by the absurdity and asked back, “Give my job to Su Xin?”

Su Zonggang suddenly took on a magnanimous tone, as if bestowing a favor. “As long as you’re willing to give the job to your cousin, we’ll generously allow you to move in with us. That way, we can protect you.”

Su Ning felt as if she’d just heard the joke of the century.

How shameless could they be to even say something like that?

She quickly responded with a sharp question, “Heard? Heard from whom?”

Someone in the crowd shrank back guiltily.

Su Ning’s sharp eyes caught Zhang Li stepping back.

Expressionless, she turned to look at Su Zonggang, this so-called uncle of hers.

After her parents died during the riots, she had hoped her so-called relatives would help her. But what did she get instead?

They completely ignored her. Worse, they looted the house and took everything.

Seeing the posture of this family, Su Ning realized they had come today solely for her job.

Her expression turned mocking. “Don’t even think about my job. Even if you wanted it, it wouldn’t work. This job was granted based on talent. Unless Su Xin has the exact same talent as me, he won’t get it.”

The surrounding onlookers started murmuring.

“I heard not just Su Ning, but two others from the neighboring community also got jobs at the shelter because of their talents.”

“Really? Why didn’t I get a good talent? That way, not only could I survive in the game, I could also get a job in real life.”

“You think working at the shelter is safe? We’re close to the shelter and get some protection, but the rest of the world is in chaos. I just hope to survive.”

Su Ning directly drove the entire family away.

Seeing Su Ning ignore them and let the opportunity slip away, Su Xin became furious and threw a tantrum.

His large body twisted dramatically. “Mom, Dad, I don’t care! I want that job! I want it!”

His man-child behavior drew scorn from the crowd.

Unable to endure the stares, Li Yun gave Su Ning a vicious glare before dragging her foolish son away.

Su Ning also noticed the last member of that family—Su Keke, her younger cousin who attended the same school as her and Zhang Li.

A trace of regret flashed in Su Keke’s eyes—clearly, she also coveted Su Ning’s job.

Su Ning now understood that Zhang Li had definitely leaked the information about her job to this family.

Clenching her fists tightly, Su Ning was filled with hatred toward Su Zonggang’s family.

Of course she hated them!

At her most helpless moment, when she needed support the most, she turned to family—only to be betrayed and hurt by them.

If she weren’t still too weak to fight back, she would’ve already taken her revenge.

Back inside her house, Su Ning began to reflect.

She realized that all her problems stemmed from her lack of strength.

Only by becoming stronger could she protect herself and make those who hurt her pay.

So, Su Ning began to make plans and trained herself deliberately.

She got up early and went to bed late, sticking to a strict physical training routine.

A week passed in this rhythm of training and working—until suddenly, the system’s voice echoed again in her ears.

[Ding! The survival game is about to begin. All players, please be prepared!]

[Ding! Note: The beginner tutorial is now over. The full version of the game is launching. Players may voluntarily choose to forfeit entering the survival instance. Forfeiting will be considered death. The player will lose all player rights and everything they possess.]

Su Ning didn’t even hesitate—of course she was entering.

The extreme weather disaster had already lasted a year. Who knew when the next unknown catastrophe would strike? Su Ning didn’t care what others chose. This game could change her fate—there was no way she’d quit.

“Enter the game!”

[Ding! Instance – Livestock Farm!]
[Objective: Survive for 7 days]

Looking at the instance name, Su Ning didn’t feel any immediate danger—but that was exactly what worried her.

In the communication channel, players were discussing the names of the instances they were about to enter.

[I got one called Shark Storm. Is that an ocean instance?]
[Whoa, lucky you! You might get shark fins to eat!]
[Oh god, my survival instance is called Demonic Haunting. Why did I get a horror one?! I’m terrified of ghosts!]
[LOL, mine is called Livestock Farm. Sounds like an easy one!]

Players from around the world were exchanging information in the chat.

They even compiled a list:

“There are five total instances: [Shark Storm], [Demonic Haunting], [Livestock Farm], [Silent City], and [Wilderness Jungle].”

Judging by names alone, Demonic Haunting seemed to be the most dangerous, but Su Ning had a feeling that her Livestock Farm instance wouldn’t be that simple either.

As she thought about it, she stared at the game screen.

“Virus Town was already considered a tutorial. How dangerous will the official versions be?” Su Ning muttered.

She felt a little nervous, but even more curious and excited.

After all, this was a survival game—challenges and dangers were to be expected.

Her job now was to keep getting stronger and overcome all obstacles.

Taking a deep breath, Su Ning mentally prepared herself.

No matter what awaited her, she had decided to give it her all.

Because only by doing so could she survive in this cruel world.
