Doomsday: Scavenging in a Survival Game – CH113

Cocoon of Transformation, Treasure Chest?

Chapter 113: Cocoon of Transformation, Treasure Chest?

Within this dungeon, Su Ning unexpectedly encountered her greatest crisis yet!

As the scene unfolded before her eyes, she couldn’t help but gasp sharply, “All three Lords of the Mist… are gathered here?!”

But what shocked Su Ning the most wasn’t just their presence — it was the terrifying monster known as the [Mother of Mist], ruler of the Mist Abyss.

It possessed a chilling ability: it could transform any living being into a mist creature!

In that instant, a horrifying realization flashed through Su Ning’s mind, sending a cold shiver down her spine, “Could it be… that all the monsters I encountered before weren’t born that way? But were once normal creatures — who were later transformed into these monstrosities by the Mist Abyss?!”

The thought alone made her scalp tingle and her body go cold.

Su Ning had always felt a strange, unsettling vibe from this place known as the City of Mist, but she could never quite put her finger on what exactly was off.

Now, it all made sense.

This entire city was so bizarre because — there wasn’t a single trace of natural life!

Not a single bird in the sky, no insects in the grass, not even the hum of a fly.

The entire dungeon was deathly silent, a kind of silence that stirred unease deep in one’s soul.

Even in a dungeon as horrifying as [Corpse Hell], overrun with zombies, Su Ning had still seen the occasional wild animal.

But in the City of Mist, there was only absolute death — as if all life had been devoured.

“Could it be that they were all captured and transformed into mist monsters by the Mist Abyss?!”

The idea horrified Su Ning.

Surrounding the Mist Abyss, she now noticed countless white, cocoon-like structures — some of which had already broken open, revealing newly-transformed monsters.

She activated Scavenger’s Eye:

[Monster: Cocoon of Transformation]
Creatures currently undergoing transformation. Once the cocoon breaks, their life force will be fully converted into a creature of the Mist Sequence.

Su Ning turned her gaze toward the players who had previously been captured — Tang Fanghua and the others.

“Are they going to be transformed too?!”

That thought made Su Ning’s blood run cold.

She quickly weighed the risks and benefits, trying to decide her next move.

A difficult decision now stood before her:

Should she risk her life to save them?
Or leave quietly while she still could?

After all, she didn’t really have any deep relationship with Tang Fanghua.

To now risk her life to save her — it was clearly beyond what Su Ning was willing to take on.

Especially with the three Mist Lords gathered here — each one was like a towering, insurmountable mountain standing in her path.

Even if she used all her trump cards, there was no guarantee she could save anyone.
And failure would likely mean her death.

That kind of gamble wasn’t Su Ning’s style. She admitted to herself: she was selfish.

Unless she had absolute safety measures, she would never act recklessly.

After carefully thinking things through, Su Ning let out a silent sigh and offered an apology in her heart to Tang Fanghua, preparing to turn and leave.

But just as she turned — she noticed something glowing under the giant Mist Tree.

A brilliant golden light shimmered quietly beneath its thick mist.

She looked closely:

It was a treasure chest, quietly waiting to be discovered.

“A treasure chest?!”

This unexpected find left Su Ning somewhat speechless.

It had been so long since she’d seen one — her feelings were now mixed: both joy and despair.

Still, she didn’t let the joy cloud her mind.

She knew very well: in this situation, she had no chance of opening that treasure chest.

Compared to treasure, her own life was far more valuable.

So she turned and began to leave.

But — on her way back — she suddenly ran into another massive monster.

[Monster: Mist Spider]

Talent: Web-weaving, Mist Body
Skills: Bind, Corrosive Fog

The Mist Spider was enormous, easily the size of two passenger buses.

Behind it, two human figures were being dragged along by silk threads.

Su Ning focused her eyes — hey, she recognized them!

“Why are these two captured? Did Fu Qingge die?!”

The ones being dragged were none other than Fu Qingyao and Xi Chunyan.

At the moment, both were in terrible shape — clothes tattered, covered in dirt and mist.

And yet, Fu Qingge was nowhere to be seen.

The two were still conscious.

Fu Qingyao sobbed:

“Sister Chunyan… are we going to die?”

Xi Chunyan looked irritated and anxious.

While Fu Qingge was recovering from injuries, the two of them had encountered another wave of monsters.

And just when they had put their hopes on Fu Qingge, he had led more monsters away — but then vanished. No one knew whether he was alive or dead.

The two were eventually overwhelmed and captured by this giant Mist Spider.

Xi Chunyan racked her brain, trying to figure out what went wrong.

“Could it be that monster egg…?”

Just as she was lost in thought, her eyes swept across the forest — and suddenly she caught sight of a familiar silhouette.

“It’s her… Su Ning?!”

She blurted out in surprise.

Su Ning hadn’t expected this either — she had already activated her [Stealth] skill.

Yet somehow, Xi Chunyan had still spotted her.

“You can still see me? Sister, your eyes are lethal!”

Was it just her bad luck?

Or was Xi Chunyan just that sharp?

A storm of questions filled Su Ning’s mind.

At the same time, Xi Chunyan found herself caught in inner conflict:

On one hand, she desperately hoped Su Ning would help them. But on the other, her rationality told her that asking for help might drag Su Ning to her death.

She looked at Su Ning with pleading eyes, silently begging for rescue.

But Su Ning simply spread her hands with a helpless look — clearly saying, “I can’t help. I’m powerless too.”

The three Mist Lords were still nearby — trying to rescue anyone now would be suicide.

Seeing that Su Ning wasn’t even willing to try, Xi Chunyan’s eyes suddenly flashed with anger.

“Why me?! Why am I the one who got caught, while you just got lucky and escaped untouched?!  This isn’t fair!”

Unable to suppress her emotions, she screamed at the top of her lungs, “Su Ning! Please! Save us!!”

Despite knowing full well that her screaming might bring danger to Su Ning, she simply couldn’t control herself.

She just wanted Su Ning to suffer like her.

Su Ning’s expression turned icy.

She instantly saw through Xi Chunyan’s malicious intent — deliberately putting her in danger.

Because of her scream, the surrounding mist thickened — and Su Ning realized:

She had been exposed.

But instead of panicking, Su Ning stayed calm.

As the mist monsters began rushing toward her — drawn by the shouting — Su Ning activated her Planting Space, and in a blink, her figure vanished inside it.

She disappeared — leaving Xi Chunyan dumbfounded.

Meanwhile, the still-crying Fu Qingyao also remembered, “Wait… don’t I have a planting space too?”

Without a second thought, she flashed into her own planting space, completely forgetting about Xi Chunyan.

Every woman for herself.

The instinct for survival was on full display.

Xi Chunyan had no idea things would turn out this way.

Left behind, betrayed and exposed, her eyes filled with disbelief and fury.
